Why I Don't Love
--
My mother used to always tell me to keep my heart guarded,
Boys were nothing but devils in disguise and with time they would wear down your heart until it could no longer even beat,
So I vowed to my mother and promised on her words that I would always be sure of myself,
It wasn't long until I broke that promise,
Because well you see how could I,
When someone who looks like an angel and sounds like your favorite tune comes waltzing in,
With eyes that are an ocean filled with so much soul that even the mightiest ship could be lost forever in,
But that's all over now,
The number of times I have sat alone with only despair as a companion I can no longer count with both paws,
Ever since you ripped me apart with the truth you'd be hiding not a good day has gone by,
I look down at the ground every time I see your face; such a face of an angel that leaves me with hope,
Hope that I built board by board only for you to burn the whole house down,
I never knew the devil could be so disguised, so deadly,
I bite back tears,
You never liked the waterworks,
You never even liked me.
