"Hello there! My name is
Perocore, and I absolutely fell in love with this little fluff dragon. I've always had a great love of invertebrates, especially gastropods, my favorite gastropods being slugs, my favorite slugs being sea slugs, and my favorite sea slug being the
Glaucus atlanticus, also known as the blue sea slug, or blue angel sea slug. So when I saw this little one I just couldn't help but want to take her home- though I was hesitant about touching her at first, I quickly reminded myself that Fluff Dragons are not toxic, and that her fluffy appendages wouldn't sting me.
When I crouched down to scratch her head, the little beast made a tiny hiccup sound that came out like; "Ica!" I chuckled at this, and it reminded me of the species name for the creature she resembles, which is
atlanticus and simply replaced
us with
a, coming to the name
Atlantica!
She really does love to make the sound "ica!" a lot...just seems to do her weird shuffle/roll movement around chirping; "ica! ica! ica!" as she does, rather reminding me of a Pokemon saying it's name over and over, which amuses me as I always thought sea slugs look like some odd sort of Pokemon. Of course it doesn't seem to be her favorite sound. While randomly rolling around she will start purring and wriggling when near fish tanks. At first I thought it was the fish she liked, but have finally realized that it is the sound of the filter's motor that she likes, as she seems to love any sort of motor sound, whether it be an airplane flying over head, a car driving by, the AC being turned out...Ica just really likes the sound of motors.

I was quick to find out, after returning the the Fluff Dragon place with a cup of coffee (for myself), that Atlantica also has a great love for iced coffee. I have no idea if she can actually taste it, but there's something about it she likes. Now I probably should go get a new coffee, as she polished mine off and promptly squished her entire body into the cup and fell asleep. The real question, though, is what to do about the sticky residue now drenching her fur.

Since she seemed to respond so oddly to motors running, I decided to try finding some other sounds she likes. After much trial and error, I finally turned on the radio. She wasn't interested in anything until I lost signal and only got the fuzzy-sound. This sound resulted in much happy purring and rolling, indicating that she enjoys the sound of static. At that moment the radio cleared and, to my own delight, reggae music was playing. I didn't expect much of a response from little Ica, but she did surprise me! It seems that Ica's favorite music is reggae! I tried a few other genres (turns out she's afraid of pop), but nothing quite clicked with her.
While trying to get to know little Atlantica, I tried to introduce her to a wide variety of hobbies and games. When trying board games, she simply rolled around on the board, happily scattering the pieces around...I then had to retrieve those pieces from under the couch. Drawing didn't go well, either, as she started getting crayons stuck in her nose (apparently she was trying to eat them), which I had to carefully retrieve with pliers. Painting was the worst mistake possible, and all I can say is that I am
still trying to scrub Ica's "artwork" off of the kitchen floor. Since her hobbies were all quite destructive, I took her out doors to play. As if to spite me after her bath, she immediately launched herself into every puddle she could find, and once too heavy with soggy fur to move, she simply wrapped herself around my ankle so that I could carry her indoors. Then, at long last, I did discover something she enjoys- playing with towels. She moves surprisingly fast, for not having legs, and I ended up chasing the towel-cloaked fluff around. She got stuck to the refrigerator at one point, but still managed to keep her tail curled about the end of the towel. So, it may not count much as a hobby, but this little one does love towels quite a bit- whether it's hiding in them, sleeping in them, or getting them stuck up her nose.
Speaking of which, she has the
worst habit of getting objects stuck in her nostrils! I've learned to keep a pair of small pliers handy, and already have collected straws, crayons, my tablet pen (TWICE!), tissues, the cat's tail (don't get me started on that one), various flowers, and a fish (rest in peace, mister fishy VI) from her nose. How does a creature- without limbs- manage this awe-inspiring feat?! I know some fluffs have a weird habit of absorbing objects into their fluff (she manages this one just fine, too), but her nose/mouth/organ of all places? I hope she eventually learns that nasal cavities (if she has those) are not storage bins.
After a long day of inhaling things that shouldn't be inhaled, making improbably messes, getting into very unusual situations, and otherwise perplexing me, Ica began the quest for a comfy place to bed down. I decided not to interfere, and simply watched as she tumbled about. At first, she somehow got on top of the book case, but it wasn't comfy enough. Then it was between the books on the shelf, but that put her between a hard place and..another hard place. Then she fell (less than gracefully) onto a dog bed. At first it was quite perfect and soft and comfy-- but the snarling snapping terrier chased her away. I eventually lost track of the wee beastie, but thought little of it, assuming she'd curled up under the bed or something. As usual, that evening, someone has lost the television remote controller, so it was on to the great hunt! I slid a hand between couch cushions and was pleased to find the remote controller, then felt something warm and soft brush my hand- nearly giving me a heart attack (even manly men are frightened of unknown living beasts). I yanked my hand back, and a few second later Atlantica's head popped out from the cushion. She growled; "Ica! Ica! Ica!" at me before snuggling back into the cushions and going back to sleep. Pleased to see that she had found a comfy place to sleep, I carefully retrieved the controller and let her be.
