I narrowed my eyes and pawed the ground angrily, fury blinding me. I gave a low snort and bolted toward the gate and leaped over, my hooves barely skimming the barbed wire. A excruciating pain shot up my leg, and dots danced across my eyesight. I ran, faster and faster, trying so hard but it was too soon before I could not run any farther. There by a lake I laid, feeling the cool waters lap at my skin, causing a tingling sensation. I heard soft footsteps and looked up to a little girl with hair that matched my coat. At once I felt something blossom, all these years of never rusting humans were over. The girl's soft whispers of comfort seemed to cool the singing pain in in my leg. I let out a thankful nicker and she smiled, maybe this girl did understand me, as if we were one. Then something caught my eye as the girl cleaned my wounds, right on her arm. It was a patch of paler skin that was in the shape of a maple leaf, I had one of those!! (doesn't show up in her picture) It was meant to be! IU heard the girl give a gasp as she discovered my marking, and then her warm embrace enveloped me.

Later on:

I galloped along the beach with Leah on my back, her nimble fingers intertwined with my mane. I leaped over a log and she spread out her arms like a bird with wings. Leah let out a giggle of enjoyment and I raced faster until we could run no more. I laid down on the beach with Leah, but this time I had my best friend in the whole world with me.
