GPE #7 AB's Wild Light

Postby LostHope » Thu May 22, 2014 11:10 am

What is a Great Plains Equine?:
The GPE are a special breed of horse. They are large and sturdy breed, suited best for working a farm and pulling carts. They also were once used as war horses during the war between the Mountain and Forest kingdoms. GPE stand at 13-17 hands, though are most commonly ranging at around 15-16 hands. Their coats are sleek and soft, the colors and patterns are too varied to even list, though they are most commonly found with a 'paint' style coat. Their manes and tails are long and flowing, their hooves heavily feathers and nearly fully concealed. GPE's have long beards under their chins, both male and female, and have a pair of horns that sweep backwards along their necks. Their eyes range in any color of the full spectrum, and produce a glow that resembles smoke, or possibly flames. They are docile beasts, but are not easily tamed.

Handler: Allyssia_banter
Name: Wild Light
Gender: Stallion
Height: 17 H
History:
As a foal, Wild was born just that, wild. His mother was a straight bay mare, and his father a tiger striped palomino, the herd stallion. Wild was your average colt on the range, not as close to his dam as the fillies were and always getting into mischief. At six months he grew closer to his dam as the fillies began to get bolder and distanced themselves from their mothers.

Wild enjoyed the wide open spaces where he could run freely, kicking up his heels in excitement. But seeing as he also enjoyed his family company, when he and the other colts were driven out of the herd by their father, he struggled to accept it, often trying to get back in. Each attempt was not successful and he received some mighty bruises. The stallion was gentler trying to keep the colt away showing that he needed to get his own herd.

Finally his sire grew tired of continuously driving him off and bit him on the right hind leg viciously, drawing blood. Wild finally gave up and limped away in pain. He was later found by range workers and brought in with a semi serious infection from the bite. After healing he was left with a permanent limp and not able to return to the range, he was put for adoption and adopted by a stud ranch.

Username: Stumpy STMP
Name: Vaagh (tiger in Marathi)
Gender: Stallion
Height: 17 H
History:
.....He was captive bred and was born on a small ranch in the north. He was the pride and joy of the elderly couple that had bred him, he had a high prospect to turn out to be their new champion stud. They were in need of it because they were soon to go bankrupt. As fate would have it that could not be, seeing as some very rich and powerful people were interested in getting him for their own breeding program. They tried to get him through high prices but the elderly couple refused to sell him to someone only interested in monetary gain and not the animal.
.....Soon there were all kinds of problems with permits and pedigrees and licenses. They couple did go bankrupt and lost everything, including all their equines. However the couple wanted their animals to have good life and on the last night at their ranch they released all the animals that they thought could survive in the wild. The animals that were released were never recaptured and the rich people soon gave up not wanting to want funds searching for the elusive equines. Vaagh was among them. The young colt and his mother stayed with the others and all of them became feral. A few did not survive falling prey to injury and predators, but most did. They lived on and eventually Vaagh became the leader of the herd, though short lived was his reign.
.....Years later the grand-daughter of that elderly couple came to the land where her entire family had grown up and left behind. It was the death of her grandmother that brought her here, the woman's dying wish was for someone to see how the herd had fared on their own. With this promise the young woman set off into the brush looking for signs of hooves or evidence of grazing.
After a week camping and tracking in the woods she came upon the herd, but did not see the large stallion standing in the trees maybe twenty feet from where she was. She pulls out a camera and starts tacking some pictures, when there was a sound of movement she looks over to see him watching her. At first she is frightened, not knowing if he will charge, but when he makes no movement she slowly relaxes her body language and moves slightly to get a better look.
.....She gasps and closes her eyes as she has a flashback to when she was younger and come to visit her grandparents. She remembers seeing the small striped colt being born and her grandfather telling her to name him. She had gone on the computer that night and look up the word 'tiger' in other languages. She had found one that she liked an the next morning she went out to visit the tiny colt and tell him what his name was. Her eyes open and she recoils slightly because he had come closer, but soon she relaxes and says a single word. "Vaagh?"
.....The stallion tosses his head and eyes her suspiciously, but does not move. He also has some foggy recall about that word. When he was newborn there was some two legged small creature that constantly talked to him and played with him. Then when he was older that same being was there again speaking to him but she was bigger, yet not as big as him. Then she was there yet again a couple days before him and his mother where set free with the other equines who could handle a wild life. He is staring at that female human now, but she is again older and bigger then the last time. With this he snorts at her and walks away back to his herd.
.....She is shocked, to have seen that the same colt had survived was amazing. He had always been her favourite and she had been hoping he would still be around. She makes the decision right then and there to reconnect with him any way she can. She returns to her camp and moves it closer to the big open field that the herd was living in. For that night she sat by a small fire looking out at the shadowy figures moving in the moonlight, once in a while catching a glimpse of Vaagh.
.....She remains in the forest for weeks, everyday making sure to have some interaction with the stallion. Eventually their bond strengthens and she can ride him bareback and walk freely among the herd to play with them or check injuries. However, she cannot stay there forever and has to return home to the house she shares with her fiancé. He had been away on business while she was gone an hey had both just returned in time for the wedding a week away. The planning done by other people on both sides of the family the couple did not have much to worry about. On their honey moon they went camping in the forest where the striped stallion lived.
.....When her husband saw how much she loved the animals he made the decision that they should buy her grandparents' old ranch and start it up again. His business was doing amazing and they did not have to worry about all the fixing up the ranch needed. With some TLC and lots of hard work the ranch was back in business. The newly weds went out and bought some new equines out of new bloodlines with great pedigrees, and the woman slowly introduced the herd to their new home. They had a pasture for them but thy took the fences of preferring to let the wild one come and go as they pleased. They did not go often because they had all the food and water they could want exactly where they were.
.....Vaagh is the top stud but he remains free to come and go with the herd. He still loves going for bareback rides with the girl turned woman who had named and befriended him at such a young age.

Cannot decide which I like better, so I will award this one to Allyssia_banter and make a runner up for Stumpy STMP. I'll get working on the runner up in a moment.
