Lost and Found - Kidambura #59

Postby SnowStar » Thu Apr 17, 2014 6:35 am

What is a Kidambura?
A Kidambura is a tall wolf-like creature with long ears and lynx tufts at the end. the markings under their eyes are called streaks, and they will always match their eye dot. they also have abnormal large pupils. they have long mussels and a fury mouth to go with, despite that in some cases the Kidambura can have horns, they can come in any shape. with a long neck they have fuzzy manes that can also come in any shape, (or size) and even rarely be made of elements. with long legs, body, and tail it helps the Kida's run faster. one thing you can note is that a kida will always have a animal pattern. their tails have a small tuft at the rump that leads of into a long brisk tail much like a kangaroo that has a tuft of fur at the end. and their children are known as "Cupps"

username ;; thunder..

kida's name ;; detak, derived from the term 'detak jantung' which is indonesian for 'heartbeat; pulse.'

kida's gender ;; male.

kida's personality ;; detak is a very closed kida. his true colors have never shown. all his life, detak had been a level-headed, patient young kidambura without a distinct trait in his selfhood. this lack of diversity shows that, even today, detak is just another kida.

on the inside, however, he is hiding a small
secret. no matter how hard he tries, he can't forget that his stable act is only a cover. he fears that, if different, he would be excluded and rejected. and so he continues on his private masquerade as an expressionless joe without a tale to tell.

his one and only fascination? the rain. and why, out of all things, is
rain capable of releasing the passion locked away in his heart? well, detak himself doesn't know. something about the rain, a phenomenon caused by the magic and forces from above, could capture detak's attention for hours. for what was a mere drizzle of water to one, is a spell to others. a wizardry that no one could understand.

you see, detak never was familiar with the word 'science.' he tended to ignore others' explanations with his head in the clouds. was there even a reason to listen? detak doesn't think so. he would believe whatever he wanted to believe. if lords and emperors ruled the atmosphere or if zeus governed the skies,
then so be it. detak isn't one to believe in logic. the word itself he hates.

and even though detak is quiet and rather... ignorant at times, he does, however, have a hint of
compassion. like a bubble, this compassion is as fragile as thin glass, but it shimmers, allowing one to marvel and wander in its beauty. for when one finds the other side of this silent kida, well, they end up learning more than they bargained for. when that quiet someone in your life decides to open up, you realize that for once, you've found a friend in him.

such as only happened to very few kidas. one in particular, the sweet yet jumpy female known to most as
agatha. for some reason, the brown kida was used to calling detak with the nickname 'joey.' rumors say that she was detak's only friend. however, detak is also familiar with an adult kida, pandora. strangely, the two kidamburas had their personalities altered slightly as they became friends with detak. without each other, they became isolated and shut off.

it had always been common, seeing the three tucked away in a corner, snuggling tightly with occasional contented sighs. however, detak prefers not to be seen so easily while spending time with his friends. whatever happened, to the outside world, he had no friends. 'company is for the weak, sad and lonely,' according to him. it was obviously a cover-up, a lie, something hidden for no reason.

so, to sum it up, detak is a closed and quiet kida with a concealed heart of pure gold.

finding the egg ;; another day for agatha. her dark brown paws were set on the hard ground, with tiny pebbles digging into her pads. despite her discomfort, agatha continued to traverse across the indonesian forests. to be exact, she was on riau isle, a utopia for the rich and a comforting home for the natives.

the roads were rough and agatha noticed people on bikes, trucks and motorcycles. their way of transportation was complicated to her; she had never understood how machines worked. but as she watched them hurry away, to work and back, she couldn't help but sigh. unlike these humans, she had naught to do.

children aged seven to ten raced up and down the pathways, eager to go to school. they wore shabby uniforms dusted with a light brown coating, their backpacks stained with dirt. their shoes were almost falling apart, and yet they laughed as they ran, each one engaged in a game. whoever reached their school first would be the winner. no one paid notice to the lone kida.

men in ragged clothing were doing all sorts of things. some carried fishing nets slung across their backs. some biked to sell their goods from the sea. many of them were worn out, yet they struggled to feed their families and live life to its fullest.

but they enjoyed their lives. they cherished their families, held their teachings close to them. many of these people never went to school, either because they had no money or because they knew that they wouldn't need the knowledge to throw a net or cut a tree. and they were happy. agatha... wasn't. she was just lonely and shallow. her heart was a hollowed tree trunk and no heartbeat was to be felt.

filicium trees sheltered the young kida, with dried leaves pelting her softly. agatha paused for a moment and looked up, seeing a single golden leaf swirl until it landed right on her nose. the kida focused on the sunlight streaming behind the leafy canopy, and couldn't help but wonder who held control of the great fireball above her.

her dreams had always been full of gods and lords, ladies and emperors, empresses and queens, kings and princes, all sorts of great people holding power over the little things in he universe. who created the sun, moons, earth, and the planets. the same force that created stars, comets and meteors...

did other kidas believe otherwise? or did they not care? were they too busy exploring the mysteries on the earth's surface, and weren't willing to think of what lay further away?

๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑

scraps of cloudy white littered the skies as agatha finally stalked out of the trees. her fur was in tangles and small twigs clung to her scruff. agatha would prefer to take a while to wash, but she decided to simply plunge into a small river. she found a stream not too far away. tentatively, she dipped the tip of her bura tail into the cold, rushing water.

agatha shivered but attempted to ignore the freezing temperature and placed her paw in the water next. she continued to wade into the river, as the current pulled at her fur. the water seeped into her pelt and almost made her sneeze. the twigs and dirt pulled away from her fur, leaving it clean and spotless.

she noticed a blur of black, purple and gray from across the stream. her interest was triggered and she hurried over to the other side, trying to fight against the current as she splashed out of the water, panting. she shook herself, trying to dry her fur. it ended up in spikes, but agatha didn't lose her dignity as she padded over to the source of the black.

pandora stood at the edge of the bank, her tail waving in the wind. agatha wasn't going to run just yet — pandora had never bullied her, after all — but she couldn't help but feel nervous as the adult kida sniffed her fur. unable to suppress her fear, agatha trembled. pandora was so much bigger than her that the prospect of fighting her was intimidating.

however, pandora wasn't looking for a fight. "Hello.... Agatha, is it?" she asked. her nose twitched, waiting for a reply. "Uh... I'm, yes!" agatha blurted out. she stopped shivering, her tail straight as an arrow.

"I've never seen you since those Kidas chased you like you were a rat! What have you been up to lately?"

pandora was strangely friendly. it was odd considering how rarely she welcomed others. she was such a solitary kida that she probably never looked cheerful. and yet here she was, in the flesh. her crow-black fur glimmered. "I..." agatha stammered, "I'm fine! Great, even!" she added forcefully.

the adult kida had a spark in her eye, even though she appeared to be a little unbelieving. after all, agatha hadn't been all that convincing, had she? pandora replied, "Good. I've hardly seen you talk to anyone else. Why's that?" she asked. her gray tail twitched.

"Well," agatha said, facing her paws, "It's just that everyone's seen me as a toy, I think. No one wants to make friends when you're a scaredy-cat."

for once, pandora's gaze softened. "They ought to know better. That's why I never got to make friends when I was younger. You should be glad that you've still got the chance. Here; let me lend a paw." pandora offered her huge paw and agatha took it. she was hauled to a less slippery part of the ground, where grass grew and there were tiny patches of dirt. eventually, the water seeped out of agatha's pelt. "Thanks."

"Don't mention it."

๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑

the two kidas spent their time walking through the riau forests. here and there, humans and their children rode on bikes, various objects on their shoulders. one carried a wooden box, and another two carried bamboo stalks, tied together with thin, fluorescent plastic ropes. some even hogged living chickens on the back of their motorcycles.

oddly colored birds known as halcyon smyrnensis flitted above the scenery, their wings flapping frantically as they chased each other. they chirped musically, and they circled the skies as smoke rose from a nearby house, where a villager was roasting some meat. one of the birds landed close to agatha, where she could examine it. it had a long beak, sturdy and brown in color. its neck was white as a sheet and it had blue and brown feathers. it gazed at agatha with its beady eyes for a moment before it took flight once more.

"Beautiful... aren't they?" pandora asked, but agatha didn't feel the need to answer.

pandora turned out to be kind despite her irrational fear of long-legged house spiders. a snake slithered out of the bushes and had scared agatha out if her fur, but pandora had somehow managed to reassure it, which calmed both of them down.

a couple kids walked towards then, obviously interested in them. while pandora held her head high with pride as the children chanted, 'anjing, anjing!' all agatha could do was shy away as they stared at her like a day-old fruit.

luckily, the kids left for home as the two kidamburas continued on their pointless journey. they were padding around aimlessly again when agatha noticed something oddly colored. It was blue and had a bow stuck to it.

"Hey.. what's that?" asked agatha. she nosed the item, and it rolled out of the bush it had been under. as soon as agatha realized it was an egg, she let out a panicked squeak as pandora rushed over. the older kida caught the egg with one paw, stopping it from rolling away.

agatha let out a relieved breath and took in the egg's scent. nothing. "It's mother must have left long ago. I can hardly smell anything but dirt and roots," she remarked. pandora nodded. "It must have been long abandoned," she replied.

"Poor thing..." agatha let her tail brush the egg, and dust flew off it. "It won't be able to survive when it hatches."

"Unless we take care of it," pandora suggested. agatha was greatly doubtful. "I've never taken care of an egg before... what if it ends up flying away?" she said nervously.

pandora snorted. "It's a Kidambura in there, it can't fly." she rolled her eyes until agatha sat down next to the egg. insecurity never left the young kida's face as she murmured, "Are you sure we can take care of it? Because I'm not."

"I'm up for it, if you are."

kida and the rain ;; detak never was afraid of rain. as you probably already know, he loves to watch the watery drops as they fell from the clouds and ended up crashing into the ground. however, detak still prefers to keep his paws clean and dry. once in a while he would go out into the rain, exposing himself to the cold exhilaration, but it would be more common to spot him pressing his nose against a glass window with rain outside. sometimes his paws would be on the window as well, with his eyes frozen on a single drop of water as it trembled and slid downwards.

sometimes he would sit alone underneath the many filicium trees near his home, allowing the droplets to fall upon him if they got through the thick, green roof of the trees. he could remain there for hours, his face expressionless, a whimper deep within his throat. a whimper of curiosity, a will to learn and grow.

but how could one grow if one was not to accept reality? and so this leaves detak with a choice, to pursue truth and take logic for reality, or never know what caused the rain, and remain in his palace of fantasy. only time would tell what he would choose. so why was he so miserable during the rain?

whenever the skies darkened and water descended from the world above, detak would go into a strangely depressing state, as he went a thousand languages silent. once-in-a-lifetime did he smile during the rain, but in other occasions, he appeared possessed by the rain. he was almost talking to the clouds, the sky.

detak wrote:I believe that there is something behind the rain. A being, either lonely or sad, crying its heart out in its grief. I've heard many a poem about the rain, and here I tell you one right now.

๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑

Rain, rain, rain.
What is rain?
Rain is when the sky mourns.,
It is when the hurricanes gather.
And the sun just disappears.
Rain is when hearts soften,
A time for the atmosphere to grieve.
When clouds are thick,
And no light is to be seen,
When the sky is dark,
And when the moon has risen,
Finally we hear the first drizzle.

Stained glass, broken
In deep waters
When the sun rises, dreams
Relived again.

Don't forget, tell the clouds,
Rain down on me.
Make the night's reign,
Less of a nightmare with you.

Loneliness,
Loveless,
Listless,
Luckless,
But still, never faithless.

For rain and rivers,
Streams and lakes.
As droplets of dusty silver
Fall upon my lap.

Rain.
Rain, rain, rain.

detak believes that there is still joy in the nightmarish wizardry of rain. maybe one day, he would come fave reality. but for now, he is left in his own little world, where he can believe that he wants to and do what he wishes to. for one's childhood is so fragile, one can only live it once, and once it is gone, it vanishes like mist.

and so, even today, detak has a little world locked away in his heart. a world made of pure innocence, a childhood that he treasures and would never let go. nobody knows whether he would one day let go of these silly beliefs...

but sometimes, reality can crush dreams, so why not let him believe a little longer?

So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path

Imagetatic has a very bubbly personality! She is tech-savvy and geeky, as well as kind and generous. Static enjoys playing with other Kida's and making witty, sometimes smart-alecky, jokes. Its not rare to see her with a far off look, laughing her little ears off, or with her nose stuck in a book or computer screen.

Story on how the egg was found:
Imageinnamon stumbled through the brambles clumsily. "Wait up Kyler- OOF!" She fell face forward into a bush. Kyler whipped his head around and laughed boisterously. "Shut up." Cinnamon grumbled, tossing some stray leaves off her head with her paw. "You really aren't one for the outdoors, are you?" Kyler asked. He stood still, waiting for Cinnamon to catch up. Once she did, Kyler knocked a bramble out of her ginger pelt. "No..." Cinnamon replied with a sigh, staring down at the forest ground. Kyler hopped in front of the Kida, clearing out a pathway. Cinnamon tapped Kyler on his shoulder. He turned around to look Cinnamon in her orange eyes. "Thanks, but you really don't have t-" she was cut off by Kyler, as he fell on his back and yelled "What is that?!" Cinnamon stared at Kyler with an annoyed glimpse in her eye. "Why, sorry to trouble you, but that just so happens to be my face." Kyler sat up and shook some leaves out of his shiny, silver fur which was peppered with black spots. "No, not you, that." He lifted his paw and pointed to a nest, tucked neatly in the grass under a few trees. Cinnamon furrowed her eyebrows. "What is it?" She asked, wandering over to the nest. "Some sort of nest." Kyler replied. The two Kida's looked inside the nest, and their eyes were met with a little egg. It contained different shades of blue, and a little sky blue sating bow sat neatly on the top of it. "Lovely." Cinnamon whispered, smiling.

Imagetatic LOVES the rain! As a matter of fact, its one of her favorite things! In her opinion, its just so fun to run around in the wet and soggy grass, water drizzling down your pelt. She enjoys having splash-fights with other Kidambura's and catching the raindrops on her tongue.

his one and only fascination? the rain. and why, out of all things, is
rain capable of releasing the passion locked away in his heart? well, detak himself doesn't know. something about the rain, a phenomenon caused by the magic and forces from above, could capture detak's attention for hours. for what was a mere drizzle of water to one, is a spell to others. a wizardry that no one could understand.

you see, detak never was familiar with the word 'science.' he tended to ignore others' explanations with his head in the clouds. was there even a reason to listen? detak doesn't think so. he would believe whatever he wanted to believe. if lords and emperors ruled the atmosphere or if zeus governed the skies,
then so be it. detak isn't one to believe in logic. the word itself he hates.

and even though detak is quiet and rather... ignorant at times, he does, however, have a hint of
compassion. like a bubble, this compassion is as fragile as thin glass, but it shimmers, allowing one to marvel and wander in its beauty. for when one finds the other side of this silent kida, well, they end up learning more than they bargained for. when that quiet someone in your life decides to open up, you realize that for once, you've found a friend in him.

such as only happened to very few kidas. one in particular, the sweet yet jumpy female known to most as
agatha. for some reason, the brown kida was used to calling detak with the nickname 'joey.' rumors say that she was detak's only friend. however, detak is also familiar with an adult kida, pandora. strangely, the two kidamburas had their personalities altered slightly as they became friends with detak. without each other, they became isolated and shut off.

it had always been common, seeing the three tucked away in a corner, snuggling tightly with occasional contented sighs. however, detak prefers not to be seen so easily while spending time with his friends. whatever happened, to the outside world, he had no friends. 'company is for the weak, sad and lonely,' according to him. it was obviously a cover-up, a lie, something hidden for no reason.

so, to sum it up, detak is a closed and quiet kida with a concealed heart of pure gold.

finding the egg ;; another day for agatha. her dark brown paws were set on the hard ground, with tiny pebbles digging into her pads. despite her discomfort, agatha continued to traverse across the indonesian forests. to be exact, she was on riau isle, a utopia for the rich and a comforting home for the natives.

the roads were rough and agatha noticed people on bikes, trucks and motorcycles. their way of transportation was complicated to her; she had never understood how machines worked. but as she watched them hurry away, to work and back, she couldn't help but sigh. unlike these humans, she had naught to do.

children aged seven to ten raced up and down the pathways, eager to go to school. they wore shabby uniforms dusted with a light brown coating, their backpacks stained with dirt. their shoes were almost falling apart, and yet they laughed as they ran, each one engaged in a game. whoever reached their school first would be the winner. no one paid notice to the lone kida.

men in ragged clothing were doing all sorts of things. some carried fishing nets slung across their backs. some biked to sell their goods from the sea. many of them were worn out, yet they struggled to feed their families and live life to its fullest.

but they enjoyed their lives. they cherished their families, held their teachings close to them. many of these people never went to school, either because they had no money or because they knew that they wouldn't need the knowledge to throw a net or cut a tree. and they were happy. agatha... wasn't. she was just lonely and shallow. her heart was a hollowed tree trunk and no heartbeat was to be felt.

filicium trees sheltered the young kida, with dried leaves pelting her softly. agatha paused for a moment and looked up, seeing a single golden leaf swirl until it landed right on her nose. the kida focused on the sunlight streaming behind the leafy canopy, and couldn't help but wonder who held control of the great fireball above her.

her dreams had always been full of gods and lords, ladies and emperors, empresses and queens, kings and princes, all sorts of great people holding power over the little things in he universe. who created the sun, moons, earth, and the planets. the same force that created stars, comets and meteors...

did other kidas believe otherwise? or did they not care? were they too busy exploring the mysteries on the earth's surface, and weren't willing to think of what lay further away?

scraps of cloudy white littered the skies as agatha finally stalked out of the trees. her fur was in tangles and small twigs clung to her scruff. agatha would prefer to take a while to wash, but she decided to simply plunge into a small river. she found a stream not too far away. tentatively, she dipped the tip of her bura tail into the cold, rushing water.

agatha shivered but attempted to ignore the freezing temperature and placed her paw in the water next. she continued to wade into the river, as the current pulled at her fur. the water seeped into her pelt and almost made her sneeze. the twigs and dirt pulled away from her fur, leaving it clean and spotless.

she noticed a blur of black, purple and gray from across the stream. her interest was triggered and she hurried over to the other side, trying to fight against the current as she splashed out of the water, panting. she shook herself, trying to dry her fur. it ended up in spikes, but agatha didn't lose her dignity as she padded over to the source of the black.

pandora stood at the edge of the bank, her tail waving in the wind. agatha wasn't going to run just yet — pandora had never bullied her, after all — but she couldn't help but feel nervous as the adult kida sniffed her fur. unable to suppress her fear, agatha trembled. pandora was so much bigger than her that the prospect of fighting her was intimidating.

however, pandora wasn't looking for a fight.

Closed for judging. Winner will be announced and Kidambura uncovered at 12:00 pm est.
So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path

'Cause it's a bitter world and I'd rather dream.

Dizzy love turned a star lily pink,

And hung above our lids too flushed to blink,

But icy blue froze the fairytale cold,

Though I treasured you and you sparkled
with someone to hold.

kida's name ;; detak, derived from the term 'detak jantung' which is indonesian for 'heartbeat; pulse.'

kida's gender ;; male.

kida's personality ;; detak is a very closed kida. his true colors have never shown. all his life, detak had been a level-headed, patient young kidambura without a distinct trait in his selfhood. this lack of diversity shows that, even today, detak is just another kida.

on the inside, however, he is hiding a small

whenever the skies darkened and water descended from the world above, detak would go into a strangely depressing state, as he went a thousand languages silent. once-in-a-lifetime did he smile during the rain, but in other occasions, he appeared possessed by the rain. he was almost talking to the clouds, the sky.

detak wrote:I believe that there is something behind the rain. A being, either lonely or sad, crying its heart out in its grief. I've heard many a poem about the rain, and here I tell you one right now.

Rain, rain, rain.
What is rain?
Rain is when the sky mourns.,
It is when the hurricanes gather.
And the sun just disappears.
Rain is when hearts soften,
A time for the atmosphere to grieve.
When clouds are thick,
And no light is to be seen,
When the sky is dark,
And when the moon has risen,
Finally we hear the first drizzle.

Stained glass, broken
In deep waters
When the sun rises, dreams
Relived again.

Don't forget, tell the clouds,
Rain down on me.
Make the night's reign,
Less of a nightmare with you.

Loneliness,
Loveless,
Listless,
Luckless,
But still, never faithless.

For rain and rivers,
Streams and lakes.
As droplets of dusty silver
Fall upon my lap.

Rain.
Rain, rain, rain.

detak believes that there is still joy in the nightmarish wizardry of rain. maybe one day, he would come fave reality. but for now, he is left in his own little world, where he can believe that he wants to and do what he wishes to. for one's childhood is so fragile, one can only live it once, and once it is gone, it vanishes like mist.

and so, even today, detak has a little world locked away in his heart. a world made of pure innocence, a childhood that he treasures and would never let go. nobody knows whether he would one day let go of these silly beliefs...

but sometimes, reality can crush dreams, so why not let him believe a little longer?

The Kidambura has been uncovered. It is a Teen PPS with lop ears and leg fluff, inspired by Long haired lop rabbits.

So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path
