I've decided not to transfer the rest of the sparklepuffs, sorry guys! OnO This was a train wreck... Sorry it looks... odd, I designed her/him while using safe mode on my laptop, which really stretches the screen but it's the only way my dumb laptop will work sometimes.

      delphinium. is our winner! <3

Name ;; Petrus Plancius

Brief Explanation wrote:Named after the Dutch cartographer who first sighted the constellation Monoceros, Pertus's favorite constellation. The constellation Monoceros is commonly associated with Petrus while he may not have technically discovered nor named the constellation- he was still it's first recorded observer.

Gender ;; Male

Brief Explanation wrote:As Petrus Plancius the original was male, I felt the bearer of the name should follow suit.

Favorite Constellation ;; Monocerus

Brief Explanation wrote:Monocerus- or Unicornus as it was originally charted -is the constellation of the Unicorn. Odds are you've never heard of this constellation before- and that's because it's not easily viewed to the naked eye. One would have to have a telescope and be looking for it to even chance a glance at this mystical beast. Petrus loves this constellation because of the mythos surrounding the beast itself- the Unicorn. When he was little his parents used to tell him stories about Unicorns. He'd heard tales of granted wishes, fulfilled dreams and a general happiness surrounding this creature deemed 'Unicorn'. When he grew old enough to take and interest in his family heritage he discovered his parents, and his parents parents and so on and so forth were a proud line of astronomers. He took up fascination in the stars and eventually came to find the constellation Monocerus. Researching into it's past he found his namesake- Petrus Plancius. The Unicorn was his favorite animals as a child and he had a fantasy of one day encountering one. Seeing the constellation of the unicorn in the sky inspired him- he saw it as a beacon of hope and happiness for all who took the time and effort to find it looking over them. Though- you probably want his explanation, don't you?

Petrus wrote:"Well Monocerus is a dear constellation to my heart for many reasons." The odd sima tapped his foot as he spoke- a metronome to his thought. "As a proud astronomer of course I favor constellations but, admittedly, picking a favorite was hard." He glanced up at his interviewer, purple eyes trained on their own. "However I've always sort of… Liked Unicorns." He man said, a bit of blush on his face as if he were embarrassed with his words. "It's sort of a silly thing to admire, I know- but as a kid I used to hear lots of stories about how Unicorns inspire happiness and joy in others and grant the wishes of those who truly seek it with all their hearts and-" He took a breath, blush intensifying and reddening his ear tips and cheeks. "It was simply inspiring…" He smiled faintly, his eyes drifting from the interviewer. "Of course as an astronomer I knew of the constellation Monocerus and finding my name was tied back to it-" His eyes drifted back up, full of wonder and curiosity. "It's a honor, I feel. And thus it's my favorite and most precious constellation. I'm glad to be under the Unicorn's watch each night- it's an endearing thought to know happiness is so close for those who work and strive to earn it."

N a m e ;;
"Distira, which is Basque for 'bright'. Different, no?"

Distira laid down, curling up her tail to her side, she sighed and spoke. "When
I was a child, all I did was look up and watch the stars. Near my birthday, I wo-
uld always run outside, look up into the sky where Aquila is waiting for me. As-
tronomy has fascinated me, ever since I was a child. Space is such a interesting th-
ing, it goes on and on, forever and ever. I want to explore it all!" A sort of ma-
d look came into her eyes, Distira sometimes gets a bit crazy. You looked at h-
er muddled for a second, but shrugged it off and continued to listen. Distira n-
oticed your startled appearance and sighed, "Sorry if I scared you there, dear.
.." Distira's eyes became clouded for a moment. "I-its just that i'm bipolar... I
tend to go crazy or lash out sometimes - moving on!" She quickly changed the
subject and continued her story. "My mother and father were cruel to me, they
didn't seem to care or want me. The only friend I had was from Church, his na-
me was Calypso. Calypso was fascinated by stars like I, and we sometimes sat o-
utback together and watched the sky rotate from dawn to dusk, counting stars
and even making up our own constellations, but then the war came... They m-
oved away. Aquila was the first star he showed me when it was near my birth-
day, he was so kind... I wish to meet him again someday." Distira sighed, her
eyes became cloudy again. She got up and padded outside, looking up into the
stars, she pointed at one in particular. "There is Aquilia." She said. "I have al-
l of the stars in my mind." She giggled, before beating her small wings and ta-
king off into the night sky.

I say it's Orion. There's two different stories about it but I will only tell about my favorite version. This story about the great hunter identifies his father as the sea god Neptune and his mother was Queen Euryale of the Amazons. Orion inherited Queen Euryale's talent and became the greatest hunter in the whole world. Unfortunately, he grew a huge ego due to his strength. He boasted that he could best any animal in the world. In response to his statement, a small scorpion stung him and killed him. I like that version more than the other one since it teaches a lesson. A lesson that I will always know, never have a big ego. Doesn't matter if you're the best in the world, don't act like you're better than anything else otherwise karma will hit you. Maybe not as bad as Orion but one way or another, you'll drop down a few notches. Life is full of lessons, and this is proof that we can learn from anything. That is why it's my favorite constellation.

The myth wrote:A Roman myth involves both bears, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. A beautiful maiden, Callisto, hunting in the forest, grew tired and laid down to rest. The god Jupiter noticed her and was smitten with her beauty. Jupiter's wife, Juno, became extremely jealous of Callisto. Some time later, Juno discovered that Callisto had given birth to a son and decided that Jupiter must have been the father. To punish her, Juno changed Callisto into a bear so she would no longer be beautiful. Callisto's son, called Arcas, was adopted and grew up to be a hunter, while Callisto continued to live in the forest. One day Callisto saw Arcas and was so overjoyed at seeing her son that she rushed up to him, forgetting she was a bear. Arcas thought he was being attacked and shot an arrow at Callisto. Jupiter saw the arrow and stopped it from hitting Callisto. To save Callisto and her son from further damage from Juno, Jupiter changed Arcas into a bear also, grabbed them both by their tails, and swung them both into the heavens so they could live peacefully among the stars. The strength of the throw caused the short stubby tails of the bears to become elongated. Juno was even angrier with Jupiter and managed to exact still more revenge on poor Callisto and Arcas. She went to the gods of the sea and forbade them to let the two bears wade in their water or streams on their long and endless journey around the pole star.

"I don't know why, always have loved dragons. I guess its what I make it, but I see this constellation as a strong warrior. A dragon who fought in the skies, throughout battle and was alone during this. I see this dragon alone, and seeming to struggle to fit in with the others. And that one day, he earned a spot in the skies after fighting to the death, he earned his pride.. He was lost in greed and sorrow. But it was a past tense so it seemed. Now he had given himself the power of ruling in the skies, after all of he battles he had fought in.
But of course, this is just my story, the reason why I like it. But somebody could totally think different.."

Name:
Aster
Meaning: "star"
Gender:
Male

Favorite constellation:
Aster's favorite constellation, or should I say, constellations, are Leo and Leo minor. Aster has always had a fascination for stars, and lions for that matter, and he thinks its really cool to see them floating in the night sky. The night he first discovered these, he was only six years old. He had been crying over his father's disappearance, so his mother took him outside to sit on the shore of a little lake near their home. She pointed out the two constellations for him, and said that they would be just like the two lions, never too far apart. He loves to remember that night, and relives that memory often when he is on his travels. He never wants to forget that she will always be there, waiting just for him.

My name:
my name is nyota.
it means star in swahili

Gender:
im female.

My favorite constellation:
Aries the ram ♈

i love this constellation for a few reasons.
for one it is a sheep, and i just love those.
the second reason is this constellation has roots in Greek mythology, which in near and dear to my heart.
Aries was the ram whose coat became the golden fleece.
this fleece had the power to heal any sickness.
i like to think of this constellation as watching over and taking care of me.
i feel as though Aries healing properties can still reach me <3
