Shh.. keep your voices down, there are little babies growing. ♥

Parrapup eggs are sensitive to overstimulation so keep quiet- not to mention the parents. Parents get very protective when they have eggs and newborn hatchlings; moreover, even if they are used to humans, they will chase anyone off but screeching and snapping. Females stay around the nests and only leave when the eggs get too warm. Make sure you are fully prepared for baby parras because they are a handful. Parras have been bred to only have two babies, but you may want help with more than one.

Breeding time for parras is usually in Spring to mid Summer (April 1st - July 20th). This is when the females are all ready to breed and they are guaranteed at least one strong baby. Parras can breed almost anytime of the year, but the chances of eggs being duds are higher, and if you do get a dud, the parents can both go into a state of depression. It's a good idea to just leave them together alone with plenty of meat and fruits to help replenish their health.

If you do get a successful breeding, congratulations!

Mothers

♪ Mothers have an extremely strong maternal instinct, and they rarely kill their own young, especially if the male disagrees.
♫ The only time a mother will kill her child, is when she is too hungry to take care of her baby and provide food.
♪ Mothers are very protective, but not nearly as protective as the fathers. Mothers love their babies, but they also don't mind having visitors from loved ones and friends. Usually the male (Depending on their demeanor) will either go out hunting, or they will lay down with the female as a way of showing their protection.
♫ Mothers get bored while sitting on their eggs/hatchlings and keeping them warm, so many of them will sit and sing lullabies or just soft songs.
♪ Mothers weigh a good 10 more pounds after laying her eggs and have plenty of that as fat. Her body uses that extra stored fat to keep healthy and also to produce plenty of warmth for her babies.
♫ The mother mainly lays on the babies to keep them warm, and when they are able to walk around, she and the father both teach their babies what they need to know.

Fathers

♪ To even find a mate, male parras have to strut their stuff, show'm what you got!
♫ Usually they show off their talents to females, but they also have to have good shelter and nests, whether they built it, or they fought for it from another parra.
♪ Unlike many mammals, fathering parras stay with their mates during the time it takes for eggs to hatch all of the way up until they are young adolescents.
♫ Fathers are extremely protective and will chase off anyone that they don't recognize. Most parras will back off immediately at the sight of a father, but if they don't, the father will flash their ruffles and charge.
♪ Dueling isn't common, but a father will continue to attack opponents for as long as it takes for the other to run.
♫ Males protect a varying radius of territory, usually varying from 20meters to 35meters.
♪ Males are responsible for collecting food for the mother and young, collecting a multitude of berries, nuts, rodents, and small animals.
♫ Their body weight can drop pretty quickly if they aren't careful, so just make sure your male is eating.
♪ Males stay with the female when they can, but stockpiling food is the most important thing to them. ESPECIALLY after the eggs hatch.
♫ Fathers are responsible for the upkeeping of nests, making sure that it is clean of rotting food and such.
♪ Big hunts are rare for males to get while fathering only because they want to stay alive. Parras already have thin bones, and they don't want to have themselves hurt and unable to feed their mate and babies.
♫ Once the hatchlings have become old enough, mother and father both teach their babies.

Eggs - 0 Days old

♪ Eggs are very sensitive to a lot of things, so make sure they stay fairly safe.
♫ They are moderately protected
♪ Eggs have random sexes
♫ Vary from off-white colors to browns. Sometimes they can have soft pastel colors.
♪ Can commonly be duds when out of breeding season.
♫ Take 2 weeks to hatch.

Newborns - Hatchday: 0 Days old

♪ Pink, naked and very helpless
♫ Highly protected
♪ Develop very quickly
♫ They eat a lot of food.
♪ Will squeak and squawk when food is smelled
♫ They have sharp hearing and smell when their ears develop.
♪ It takes 3 days for their ears to open.
♫ Their eyes open after one week.
♪ Fur and feathers for wings start to develop rapidly after hatching.
♫ After 1 week, they are already able to walk and their fur and downfur/feathers are already developed.

Hatchlings - 1 Week old

♪ Parents are teaching them to hunt, swim, and fly (Provided one parent has wings)
♫ They can't fly until their downfur/feathers have started to shed enough for only their bellies and nape to have some left which takes about 1 week. (Human Time : See fledglings)
♪ Never have markings except for maybe very dull spots and stripes
♫ Look similar to Fledglings but they are almost completely white or a dull shade of their base color (Parra=Red : Hatchling=Reddish/Pink)
♪ They hardly shut up.

Fledglings - 2 Weeks old

♪ Able to moderately fly/flutter/soar.
♫ Very fluffy with just bellies of downfeather/fur and napes.
♪ Begin to have cute little songs
♫ Very playful.
♪ They take two months to grow. (Human Time)
♫ They lose their downfur/feathers after the first month.

Adolescents - Approximately 2 to 2 & 1/2 Months old

♪ Going through puberty!
♫ Can be easily irritated, they are extremely calm, curious, or they are very playful.
♪ The way they act is a general way to judge how their adult demeanor is going to be.
♫ Extremely calm babies eat a lot and tend to be kind of whiny, but they grow up to be the strongest and calmest. (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn)
♪ Playful babies are the one's to grow up to be very social and outgoing! (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius)
♫ The easily irritated tend to nip when they are, and they usually only have good relationships with their families. (Cancers, Scorpios, and Pisces)
♪ Curious babies are easy to lose, but grow up the smartest! (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius)
♫ Adolescents can show a good amount of emotion in the beginning, but they tend to form different personalities as they get older.
♪ They take two months to grow up into adults. (Human Time)

Adults - Approximately 4 to 4 & 1/2 Months old

♪ Social in some way!
♫ Can develop schizophrenia if they don't socialize.
♪ They eat nuts, fruits, plants, and meat.
♫ Take after their personalities from being adolescents.
♪ Sexually mature after five months old.
♫ Their ripest age is after 2 years. (Most fertile)
♪ 1 human year is about 5 to them. Approximately. Their aging is unknown because they don't seem to follow a set aging pattern
