chocolatey, a bit 'nosey' perhaps.
But that just goes to show...
You can't judge a book by its cover.

Saw as he sees himself;

I am a genius. I have no shame in hiding that fact- brilliance is meant to be shown, after all. What do I do with this intellect, you ask? I use it for pleasure, of course. Where is the fun in

being so gifted, and yet never using those gifts? I pose as an innocent citizen, a normal stag with a love for desserts and a common companionship with the other Deerserts around me, but in my spare time I put my glorious mind to work. While I may pretend to be a charming ladies man and good friend, in truth, I harbour a deep hatred for my 'fellow Deerserts'. They can not compare to me in any way- ignorant fools. I seek the Deerserts I think I will enjoy my time with the most by evaluation. Of course, these poor, delicious cervidaes have no clue I am testing them. To make a game interesting, they have to be strong.. But not too strong, smart enough to survive at least an hour, and of course, they have to be chocolate. That is vital. It doesn't matter the density of cacao, whether they are white, milk, or dark, they become a perfect target. Cannibal, you call me? Well, maybe just a lick... Heheh. Then the really fun part begins. Imagine it as a Hunger Games.... Isn't that what you human peasants call it? I select the best deer for my purposes... And I get to watch them jump through hoops, figuratively speaking, just to try and survive. The one who lasts the longest is permitted to leave... Of course they never see my face or hear my voice. Isn't it brilliant? And of course, I get my little 'addiction' satisfied... Oh so many delicious chocolatey Deerserts have disappeared from all around the world... All thanks to me. I've been doing this for years, and still I remain unsuspected. A true criminal mastermind....

How Saw appears to others;

Saw is friendly and polite, very courteous and charismatic. He is that neighbour that seems to be so remarkable in every way that he appears unremarkable- you just get used to having him there. He helps little old ladies out to their cars and walks kids across the cross walks. He makes a point to get to know everyone he meets, and in turn everybody loves him. He's generous and well mannered, and always on time. He works hard but he has fun while doing it, and he can bring a smile to anyone's face on a gloomy day. He might look a little odd to some, but other than that he appears to be the perfect Deersert. Ladies swoon over his gentlemanly manor, but he is always considerate and genteel when turning them away. He is uninterested in romantic relationships, but that's alright, you can't really imagine him 'settling down' with someone. He loves to laugh and spend time with others, though he is often on vacations and traveling to new places, looking to meet new people and have new adventures. He is brave and loyal, and very fair when it comes to punishments, debates, and judging. If you compliment him so, he simply blushes and smiles, thanks you, and then returns with a complement of his own. It's a perfect façade.

Janaff is a combination of the female name 'Jana' and the musical term 'ff' or fortissimo (translates to 'very loud') which suits him as he is a loud and childish person who is not overly masculine in his appearance.

Despite his intimidating appearance, Janaff is a big softie. He's friendly to everyone, optimistic, and always trying to make others happy, most often by making a huge smile by dislocating his snake jaw and flapping his wings like a turkey. He rarely gets upset, but when he does, you can tell that it's time to evacuate. His lower lip starts to tremble and crease, his eyes well up, and then he just starts bawling. Most often, venom drips out of his fangs when he cries.
For some reason, Janaff has a strange fascination with silver jewelry. He's always looking for more silver pieces to add to his walking collection (ie; himself). Some believe he likes silver so much because of the way it appeals to the eye and catches in the light, but others believe it's because he's part magpie. No one's really sure of the legitimacy of either of the theories.

"My homeland of Phoenicis is bordered by the South Sea. It's a wonderful place to live. There aren't that many of us, and everyone gets along... I've seen many countries with my own eyes, but Phoenicis is the best!"

Nobody knows who Janaff's parents are, not even himself. He was raised by a deerssert couple with no biological children who lived out in the country. Their pet cat indirectly taught Janaff how to hunt for himself, first mice, then larger prey like rats and rabbits. He is now able to take down massive prey, like cows, though he can't eat such prey in one bite.
The couple always taught him to embrace who he was and not let anyone dampen his spirits. He still holds that close to his heart. As such, he always stands up for what he believes is right and is quick to defend "the little guy". He is a strong advocate for equality and is very opinionated.
Janaff also learned to fly for short periods of time and to glide while living with the deerssert couple. He spent much of his time as a child enjoying nature, and his favorite subjects to study were birds (although snakes were a close second). He mimicked their movements and quickly learned that using those movements when in high places was the key to his success.
