Show Name:
Forgotten Memory
Barn Name:
Sorrow
(Totally named after China Sorrows - the most beautiful woman in the world - from Skulduggery Pleasant!)
Gender:
Mare
Age:
7 Years
Height:
16.1 hh
Breed:
Lustiano crossbred
Discipline:
She's being trained in dressage, and hopes to enter some competitions soon, yet due to her history is currently without one.
. Personality
Sorrow is a very cautious horse, and takes great care in everything that she does. It is very difficult to gain her trust, but once you have it, Sorrow will be extremely loyal and caring, and is the kind of horse who will turn around and try to help you if you fall off her back. Towards other horses, Sorrow is very shy and finds it difficult to make friends unless they speak to her first, as she would much rather sit on the sidelines than play. At heart, she is truly kind and loving, and she loves to watch foals in the springtime, hoping that one day she will have her own.
. Likes and Dislikes
Well, the things that Sorrow likes the most are watching other horses play, standing in the warmth of the sun, being in company of anybody (Human, equine, feline, canine, even bird, she doesn't mind) and daydreaming. She does, however, like flowers. So far, I haven't figured out why, but my best guess is that their aroma and colour seem to brighten up her dreary past. Sorrow doesn't like being left alone, chickens (The ones around the yard freak her out), shadows and the stall at the end of the stable block, as this was where she spent her years alone.
. Poem
Every day I remember
The 25th of December
Nightmare-worthy memories
Of heart-scarring mental injuries.
One year I was brought to cottonwood ranch,
The cause of an emotional avalanche
They said my new owner would find me here
And all of a sudden my future looked clear.
I counted the seconds, the minutes, the days,
The months and years fading into a haze
I began to realise my owner would never come
I started to wonder what I would become.
Ever since I've been alone in my stall
Hoping one day my owner would call,
But deep in my heart I know I'll never see
My owner, because nobody cares for me.
. Future Mate/Crush
Maybe Sorrow will have a mate or a crush, and maybe not. She doesn't like to think about the future, or the past. Just the present. So, for now it's just Sorrow and me (Although I think she would make a good match for my Quicksilver, they're almost identical!)
. What will you do with him/her?
Well, in short: everything I can. I will enter Cottonwood competitions for which you are allowed to use existing horses, maybe add some tack and possibly even get a breeding or two. .3.
. Fears
Being abandoned again. I will quite simply leave it at that, as usually she is a very bold horse.
. Favorites
Hmmm... This would be much easier to leave as a list, so I will do just that.
Food: Apples.
Horse: None, at the moment.
Dressage movement: Piaffe
Thing to do when she's stood in the yard: 'Point' her front hooves one at a time.
Kind of bit: An Eggbutt snaffle
Rein (As in change of rein): Left
Type of bridle: Just a regular, all-purpose snaffle, although she is currently ridden in a drop and flash.
Thing to do when she sees her owner: Whinny really loudly and trot over. No, not gallop or canter, trot.
. History
As we know, Sorrow was brought to Cottonwood one christmas as a gift that was never picked up, but we don't know what happened before, so with a little research, you can find out more about her past...
She was born on a small ranch in Spain which was owned by an old couple, to a retired lusitano stallion from the Spanish Riding School, and a thoroughbred mare that had lived on the ranch for most of her life. She was very loved by both of her owners, and was nicknamed their 'little china doll'.
Sadly, due to a lack of money, the couple had to sell most of their horses, keeping only their lusitano stallion. It was a heartbreaking experience for them, and, at the age of six years with little schooling experience, Sorrow was moved from the only place she had ever known and loved to a huge, unknown place full of strange horses, that was miles away from home. She was told that her new owner would come and pick her up from her new stall, and that they would spend many happy years together. There she spent a year awaiting her owner who never arrived.
When I came, she was slightly frightened, and as I gained her trust, I began to ride her just a little at a time, getting her used to being ridden once again. She is now being trained in dressage, and enjoys her work as much as I do working with her. It is hoped that she will begin to compete very soon.
^ Skilled At
Dressage; she excels in the piaffe and is a quick learner.
^ Particularly Bad At
Making friends, as she was lonely for most of her life and doesn't know how to stop it being that way.
. Companion/Friend
Sorrow has one very special companion, and they've been friends for... She can't even remember. He doesn't have a name, but he is always there for her, and for those years in her stable he watched over her. He is a robin, and sometimes, when Sorrow is being ridden, she will let him sit between her ears.
. Quirks
Well, Sorrow is usually very good, as she hates the thought of disappointing somebody so that they decide to leave her again, but as I did try a few jumps with her, whenever she lands a jump, she pauses, looks around at me as if to check that she did what I wanted, and then continues. Whenever she hears you bringing her food, she will put her head over her stable door, standing perfectly still, and as soon as you get near enough, she will throw her head towards you and sniff your pockets, even though you have a bucket of feed in your hands. I mean, what's that all about?
. Talents & Skills
Well, as I have written previously, Sorrow is very talented at dressage, probably due to her lusitano side, but did you know that she's also an escape artist? Well, not so much in her stable, but she can escape from almost any field that you put her in, no matter how solid the fencing.
. Zodiac
Sorrow is a Pisces, and for this year (Yes, I actually looked it up) her horoscope is as follows:
Overview: 2014 is the year of major transformation and rebirth, Pisces. You're about to undertake such a massive personal renovation project that your inner world will never quite look or feel the same. Of course, this will in turn revolutionize your outer world in the most fantastic ways imaginable.
Which I think is very fitting.
. Anything else
Oh gosh, this mare is gorgeous, and if I don't win her, then winner, you must feel very lucky. You have to.
Or I may just have to stealies :p (I'm just kidding, of course)
