Story of the Feathers: King was a wild mustang, born free in the desert with his father and mother. He lived freely, until a band of Indians came around his herd, capturing wild mustangs. King was only two years of age at that point and time, and was captured and sent to their tribe camp. He was tied in the center of camp, the children running their hands along his pelt, smiling smiles that glistened in the light. The kids pushed and shoved, trying to get to King. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a lone girl, small and frail, watching as other kids pushed around her. For the rest of the day, the kids where around him, until their mothers called them in for the night. King was alone outside, until he heard little footsteps come up from behind him. It was the little girl. She had two bluejay feathers in her palms, as she slipped them into his mane. He has worn the feathers with pride ever since.

Why he has feathers in his mane: Indigo Spirit was raised by a Native American family. One day, the youngest daughter went missing. Indigo did not like seeing his family hurt, so he runaway to find her. His spirit was strong & he never gave up on looking for her. Three weeks passed, the family had lost hope, they had lost their daughter & their Prize stallion. Indigo finally found the little girl, she was very weak & was trapped in a hunter's trap. The jaws had gotten her foot & she had no escape. She was hardly breathing. Indigo bit the trap & pried it open. She didn't move so he used his own hoof to get her foot out of the trap. She was badly injured, but he knew that he had to return her to her family for if she died her spirit would not be at rest until she arrived back home. He got her on his back & raced through the night back to the place he had called home for four years. During the night the girl took the blue feathers out of her hair & placed them in Indigo's mane, before taking her last breath. Her spirit was in the skies now looking down on him waiting for him to return her body to her family, so they did not wonder about her anymore. (I will finish the story if I win him)

Taboo was rescued from a large property at a young age> Other than a matted mane and tangled tail he showed no signs of ill health and was sold at an auction. When he was purchased a few feathers had been caught in his matted mane. Instead of shaving his mane the girl combed out the mats and braided the feathers back into his mane as a symbol of the horses resilience in overcoming his neglectful past.

Jay is a rather shy horse. He is unsure of himself, so he tends to keep to himself. When he gets to know someone he'll come out of his shell, and be very talkative.


Why he has feathers in his mane:

Jay's feathers were given to him by an old friend who has now passed. The friend was indeed a bird, and this bird actually taught Jay many things. He introduced Jay to his best friend, Falcon, and gave him advice when he needed it the most. The bird gave Jay his feathers for his birthday shortly before he died. Each feather symbolized a year of their friendship. When this bird passed Jay was distraught, but he remembered everything that his friend had taught him and knew that his friends spirit would never be far away.

This beautiful stallion roamed the badlands of Oklahoma, for many years for his life. The day came where he came face to face with a human, but this was not the day of his death only the re-birth of the stallion. He and human connected on a level of respect and dignity. This beautiful stallion has bald eagle feathers laced into his flowing mane to symbolize he lives along side a chief. For he comes and goes as he pleases, and is not 'owned' by anyone.
