"I bet I could do barrels faster than you!"
Sawyer is only a foal at the time, as his
friend Dusty challenges him to a duel.
Dusty is a purebred quarter horse,
he was bred for barrels. But so was
Sawyer. "No way, I can so do them
faster!" He retorts back, giving a
little bounce of energy. His mother
Bess, calls him a warning. "Don't hurt
yourself dear." Sawyer ignores her
comments, as he gets into position
next to Dusty, who shoots him a grin.
3.....2.....1.....GO!
Sawyer's off like a bullet, but so is
Dusty, as they race neck n' neck.
Sawyer thinks in his head,
left, right, left, right,

as he weaves threw the barrels
with great concentration. He sneaks
a glance over to Dusty, who is
trucking forward as well. He stares
for a moment, before regaining his
concentration to the barrels.
Suddenly...
Smash! Bang! Pow!
Sawyer topples over a barrel, hitting
face first into the dust. Dusty laughs,
continuing his streak. Sawyer sits up,
coughing slightly as he begins to stand.
He feels his mother helping him up.
"I told you to be careful." She retorts
in an upset tone. Sawyer was sad he lost
the race, but replies to his mom,
"I'm sorry..." His mom says nothing,
shooting him a glare as she trots back to
her grazing spot. He glances at her, then
finds Dusty trotting to him, bouncing
in a way with every step. "I told you!"
He grins, circling around Sawyer.
"I'm the best! Best of the best!"
"No fair!" Sawyer replies back in a
sad, pouty tone. "Retry!" He perks
up, but sees his mom shoot him a
deadly stare. "Hehe, never mind."
Sawyer says, as the two foals trotted
off into the meadow.

Poem:
The buzzer rings,
Off the line like a shot,
To barrel one,
Can I make it or not.

Looping around,
Up flys dust,
Around barrel one I go,
To barrel two I must.

I accidentally graze the edge,
See the look on everyone's face,
It teeters and totters,
Then freezes back into place.

With a sigh of relief I run,
I run straight to barrel three,
With great power and speed,
With the dust cloud no one can see.

Did I make it or not?
The dust hurt my eyes,
Did I make it or not?
Did we win the prize?

It standing straight up,
As the dust falls,
Run to the finish line,
Run straight for the stalls.

Cheering and screaming,
I sprint for the end,
My muscles tighten and loosen,
Straighten and bend.

Almost there,
I can see the line...
We won! Yes!
I can hear the losers whine.

I am a barrel racer,
And I'm proud to be one,
With my passion and skill,
Championship's what we've won.

Username: hey, jack!
Show Name: Little Tom Sawyer
Barn Name: Sawyer
Gender: Stallion
Age: Four years
Breed: Appaloosa x Paint Horse mix
Height: 16.2 hh
Parents: Sire is Beaux, and Dam is Bess.
Best Foal Friend: Dusty
Current Friends: Trickster, Ghost, and Flare are his best friends currently.
Current Mate: Darling
Foals/Fillies: None at the moment.
Discipline: Western, but mainly competes in barrels
Personality: Sawyer is a very happy, cheerful stallion, that can usually put
a smile onto anyone's face. He really has no temper and is very easygoing.
Along with that calm, cool, side, comes a wise, caring side. He can tell
when someone is in danger, and is never afraid to but in and help. He tries
to avoidconflict, but when it comes to friends in harms way, he is always
there to step up to the plate. He is very smart and charming, a mare magnet.
Unlike some stallions, Sawyer doesn't have multiple mares, he just has one
he loves and cares about. He is very kind to his mate, and always keeps her
out of any harm. If other stallions or any horse in that matter upset her,
he can turn protective, but is chilled and laid back most of the time. When
he is searching for that perfect mate, he can be flirty and rude with stallions,
but that is usually the only time he is. Other than that, he is usually a
very funny, cool stallion to be around. He's the go-to-guy, with his
almost full-of-himself personality. But- he's a very friendly, a great
horse for a child. With his low tempered, kind, charming personality,
he's the horse most children at the ranch learn to ride on. When kids are
riding him, he is careful and very attentive to them. He makes sure that
they are not frightened or uncomfortable, or even bored. He makes every
experience fun and grand. One other love besides mares and children, is
competing. He has a passion for barrels racing, as it's what he lives to do.
He loves the feel when you just barley graze a barrel, and it teeters, then
stands upright yet again; the sounds of the buzzer as you shoot out like a
bullet towards the first barrel; the feel of the rider, kicking and steering,
so happy and energetic; and the praise and treats after a good run. It is
what he loves. He has had a desire to compete western since he was a foal,
racing around the pasture as a foal with his buddy Dusty. Sawyer has actually
seen Dusty multiple times during competitions, and truthfully- Sawyer is
better than him! After all the years of loosing to him, suddenly transformed
into Dusty loosing to him! When Sawyer had beat him almost every run since
he moved stables, he felt on top of the world. He felt like the weight of the
world was lifted off his shoulders. So in conclusion, Sawyer is just an all
around great horse to have. With his caring, charming, and laid back
personality, he's great for anyone, especially kids. But nothing compares
to his love and passion, of competing.
Likes: Competing, Joking Around, Autumn, Children.
Dislikes: Conflict, Rude Horses, Cold Weather, Loosing a Competition.
Favorite Treat: Apple's and Carrots, and the occasional snickerdoodle.
Biggest Fear: Hurting himself so badly he can't compete anymore.
Life Goal: To win championships for barrel racing one day.
Theme Song: Light Em' Up - Fallout Boy
Poem: A poem I made, called "The Barrel Racer". Please don't steal it.
Short History: Sawyer was born in a grand stables, with many horses
of all different shapes and sizes. From Clydesdales, to Shetland ponies;
from world ranked competitors, to horses in training. The stables was giant,
it was called "Cottonwood Horse Ranch". Sawyer was a very quiet foal, quite
weary of the world at first glance. His mother, Bess wasn't the kindest, but
she took good care of Sawyer and raised him well. He was not too old when
he first explored the meadow. He was set out in it with his mother one day,
and a relatively hyper foal bounced up to him. "Hiya I'm Dusty, let's be friends!"
Too shocked to say something, Sawyer stood there like Dusty was a ghost.
"Eh, you're shy. But whatever, come on!" Dusty had already twirled around,
as he skipped away. Sawyer glanced up to his mom, who only nudged him
away and continued grazing. With a sigh, Sawyer caught up with the joyous
foal. Slowly but surely, the two foals became best friends, and Sawyer
blossomed into a strong, brave, cheerful foal. Everything seemed tip-top
shape, until one of the ranch-hands took him out to a trailer. He was put
inside, along with one other horse... Dusty! They were about one at the
time, as they where set off to new homes. Of course, hey didn't know that,
until Sawyer was unloaded at a small stables, and Dusty was still in the
trailer as they sped off out of sight. Sawyer never forgot Dusty, but now
has a new life- full of friends, fun, and happiness. He's surrounded by many
horses, all kind and dear, and none too big and none too small. The stables
was the perfect size, with only about two dozen horses there. Guess what,
Sawyer's doing so good, he's got himself a mate! Her name is Darling, and
that is all he cares about. Sawyer and Dusty still see each other on occasion,
mainly during competitions, and they still talk. Even miles apart, their
friendship still lasts. It'll last a lifetime. The End
Birth Place: Cottonwood Horse Ranch
Current Home: Autumn Creek Stables
Favorite Place There: The Pasture
Owners: Mr. & Mrs. Parks
Short Story: Look to the right, in the first quote box.
Why I Should Have Him: The real question is... Why not? I've been
with the CWHR since the beginning if time. He's just such a pretty horse,
and if I were to win him, he'd be happy with all my CWHR horses. I'd
give this beautiful horse a wonderful home. It'd be such a shame to
give it into the hands of someone who really didn't care. I really do
love my horses I have here. This adoption line is my favorite adoption
thread on chickensmoothie! I spend most of my time on here. I
would be so honored in having this beautiful boy. c:

The Basics

Owner;;
Coloré
I am Coloré, but you can call me
anything you think fits.

Show Name;;
Retrouver L'espoir
Meaning "Regain Hope" in French.
Pronounced [ rue - true - ve - lea - sp - wa ]

Barn Name;;
Fidèle
Meaning "Faithful" in French.
Pronounced [ fi - del ]

Gender;;
Gelding
He would be unable to produce young.

Breed;;
Arabian
A beautiful breed.

Age;;
Five Years
I think the age suits him.

Coloration;;
Dunalino Roan Overo

Personality;;
He is a sweet tempered horse, always
loving and kind. He is hopeful, encouraging,
determined, sweet, inspirational, optimistic,
tolerant, patient and beautiful horse.

Dicipline;;
He doesn't usually get ridden, but he
sometimes goes on trail rides with cancer
patients. He goes to the hospital to see
the sick and give them hope in life. He
is a real inspiration to all.

The Extras

Quotes;;
Hope shines the brightest in the darkest moments

Don't lose hope; When the sun goes down, the star comes out.

Poems;;
Hope is the Thing with Feathers

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea,
Yet never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Not written by me.

Mate;;
I would pare him with my mare, Cherry Blossom.

Friends;;
He doesn't have many friends, he lives next to Cherry Blossom
who is his mate, but he is also friends with Miracle Masterpiece
and Ne Me Quitte Pas Maintenant from the local barn that the
horses from the cancer patient's weekly trail ride are leased

Why Me?;;
The reason I want him is because of his
patterns and colours. He is simply beautiful!

History;;
He was born on a farm
with his owner who was very cruel to
him, and when he was only one year old,
he was obtained by Animal Rescue. He
was then sold to a lady and he lived with
her and her daughter. When he was three
years of age, the lady's daughter found
out she had cancer, and also struggling
with depression. He set his job to giving
her hope and making her happy, and two
years later she has recovered from
cancer and is learning to ride so she
can ride him in the trail rides with the
cancer patients so they can both give
hope and inspiration to help them
battle cancer.
The Extras

Story;;
Fidèle whinnies as the
familiar sent filled the air. He couldn't
wait to get out of the horse box to meet
the cancer patients once again. He stomped
his foot against the metal and held his head
up high. Fidèle felt special with his coat
gleaming, all washed and brushed, mane
and tail braided with cancer bandanas plaited
into them. The car stopped and he waited
patiently for someone to let him out. The
girl was wearing a banana also, even though
she didn't have cancer anymore. She led him
out and petted his face. "Lets go in, shall we?"
She asked and Fidèle nodded his head in agreement.

They walked around the side and into a large gate.
Inside was a neatly mowed field. He turned and saw
the patients sitting under a tarp cover at tables
eating and drinking. He whinnied and they eventually
wandered over. There were about six people, all lady's.
Men never seemed to find Fidèle inspirational, but
he didn't mind, his first owner was a man and he never
seemed to recover from what he had done to him. He
stood as they all petted him and said stuff like "Oh,
he's so cute." or "Wow, Fidèle's so pretty when he's
all dressed up!"

The girl mounted him and held on tight. "Be careful,"
Said her mother sternly. "your still learning how to
ride him." Fidèle felt her shift around, trying to catch
her balance and grip the reins tighter. "I'm fine!" She
said to her mother. She pushed him forwards and he
started walking with the cancer patients on the trail.

They stopped at the river and one of the patients had
passed out. Her mother couldn't leave the patience,
so the girl volunteered to go back to the hospital and
her mother agreed, so she broke off in a canter. She
heard her mothers yell behind her, but she ignored
her and tried to show her that she could handle it.
When they reached the slope, she decided not to slow
down and get there quicker, but Fidèle refused to go.
She pushed him on, and they slip down the slope. She
screamed as she flew off the horse and on her side at
the bottom. She groaned as the horse nudged her
elbow and whinnied. She pushed herself up and onto
his back, and he took her back. When they got to the
hospital, the ambulance sped up the trail.

Theme Song;;
Katy Perry
Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
