Aquila is much more gentle than she appears to be on the outside. She is often the first one to start mutual grooming sessions with the other mares and it is not uncommon to see her playing with foals in the field. When she's not doing this, she can also be seen to be rolling on her back, whinnying playfully to her companions.

But a word of caution to stallions: she is very VERY choosy. If she believes that a stallion is being too rough on her, or any of the herd members, or if he isn't strong enough to take care of the herd, she is quick to tell him so. This often by a sharp kick to the chest or the belly, or even a nip to his crest. She doesn't take any nonsense.
