Personality: Wings has always been the bright one, the sensitive mare with a kind heart who easily forgives. She can be spooked...fairly easily, although she wont shy at every single flapping thing out there. She's an excellent Dressage horse, for her steadiness, light mouth, and grace give her an advantage in the field.
Story:I remember the day I first saw her.[corny as that sounds XD] I was at a horse fair, people milling about everywhere and pushing up against you, making it hard to focus on one horse. It was incredibly crowded for a horse fair.
Then I noticed a pair of white ears peeking up above the crowd[I was rather short at that time]. It was difficult, but I managed to push and shove my way through the crowd, mutters and mumbles of "Excuse me" and "Pardon me" becoming lost in the buzzing murmur of many voices.
When I had finally curved through the mass of people and made it through to the other side, I was greeted with a pair of curious sienna brown eyes set in a beautiful white-and-gold head, connected to a fine, slender neck whose base met with a graceful, well-set body, patched in splotches of white and pale gold.
The horse nudged me, and the salesman to my left swiftly moved into action. "A lovely fine horse, here. Steady step, light mouth. Oh, and really good in the dressage field too."
My hand reached up and rubbed gently over the mare's cheek. She tossed her head lightly, a pleased look in her gently intelligent eyes. "How much?"
"Two grand, even."
"I'll give you one seventy-five."
"Done."
The transaction was made, and as I swiftly counted out the required amount, I glanced back up at the mare, hands working quickly.
She was giving me the most curious stare, eyes twinkling knowingly.
Later, as I led the mare across the quarter-mile walk back my small ranch, I watched her gait, and knew the salesman was right. It was as if she were gliding above the ground.
"I think I'll call you Wings."
And that was when our friendship began.
