The Status and Diary-

Here is where I will be posting my progress with Tahoe.I hope to go far with him.He is very wild yet,but my hopes are high.I will write more in my diary soon but for now I will start working with him.

Monday,July 1st, 2013~

Story-
There was nothing more beautiful than that sunrise spent with Tahoe.His red and coat brightened with glowing,morning sun.He was up with the same energy as before.I had put him in the larger corral so he could run.I knew this would be a challenge but I loved a good task.I sat on the corral fence for and hour or so just watching him.I studied the way he ran,how he held his head,and his nice sturdy build.Eventually as you might have guessed,I climbed down into the pen.I walked through the middle ,and back.Then i stood in the middle for a few minutes.I repeated this pattern going on the opposite side.While i was standing in the middle,he charged at me.I had no choice but to run back to the fence.He began to get exhausted and I outstretched my hand to pet his very soft nose.I noticed then there was a little notch in his ear.I began to wonder what that was from.

Progress-
I am able to stroke and brush him.The halter is my target for tomorrow.

Art-
None today.

6:00 am-
I sat watching him run around the corral.He would stop occasionally and look at me.
7:00am-
I was able to walk into the corral with out Tahoe spooking.
8:00am-
No progress truly made.Tahoe and i took a step back after he charged at me.
9:00am-
He was exhausted after running around the corral.I was able to touch his nose.
10:00am-
He once again charged at me, but halted at about 2 feet from me.I was able to stroke his velvety nose.
11:00am-
I decided to take a break and let Tahoe be.
12:00am-
Back to work.Tahoe will stand still and let me run my hands down his neck,shoulders and forelegs.
1:00pm-
His trust in me has grown tremendously.I am beginning to think tomorrow will be even better.
2:00pm-
He will eat from my hand.I give him grass that I picked, soon I will give him oats,but for now grass is fine.
3:00pm-
A long days work.I tried to put a halter on him but he ran back around me.
4:00pm-
I have decided to take an hour and draw him.Just studding him once again.
5:00pm-
My drawing was unsuccessful.No art today.
6:00pm-
My last time working with him today.I am able to brush him,and stoke his face.

Tuesday,July 2nd,2013

Story-
None today.

Progress-
I can put a halter on and lunge.

6:00 am-
I woke up late so nothing happened earlier this morning.
7:00am-
I am able to walk around in the pen petting him occasionally.
8:00am-
I have tried holding up the halter and rubbing him with it but it has been very unsuccessful.
9:00am-
I have finally got the halter on him.I can hook a lead on and walk him a short distance.
10:00am-
Tahoe kicked me so I have been taking a break.
11:00am-
I walk Tahoe along the outside of the corral without struggle.
12:00am-
Though he is trusting me more.He won't allow me to tie him up.
1:00pm-
My last break today until bed time.Tahoe is also enjoying this break.
2:00pm-
I am getting him to lunge!He won't listen to me because i think he runs in fear.When i see fear i stop him and start him off again.
3:00pm-
Well i'm just doing the same thing.
4:00pm-
Tahoe is very calm while I lunge him.I think now is a safe time to try tying him.
5:00pm-
Well I was able to tie Tahoe!I gave him a treat!Yes his first one!He wasn't sure what to think of it.
6:00pm-
I went to bed early...so tired.

Wednesday,July 3rd,2013

Story-
The way Tahoe looked at me.I knew he was nervous.I wouldn't put any weight in the saddle until he was ready.I pulled the cinch tighter and he gave a little kick.I just laughed and tied off the cinch.I backed up and watched him kick and kick!I walked back up to him and he immediately stopped and looked innocently at me.Tahoe was definitely a sweet little guy,He has been ever so gentle ever since and he doesn't buck when I put on the saddle.However the hackmore is a different story.He doesn't mind the hackmore it's self,he just hates the little rubber tube that goes on the chin chain.

Progress-
I can get the saddle and hackmore on with few complications.

Art-
No art today.

6:00 am-
More lunging.
7:00am-
Breakfast break!Time to feed and water all the stock and fill up the 300 gallon cattle tank.
8:00am-
I keep lunging Tahoe and he can go all around the corral at all three speeds.
9:00am-
I just put the saddle on.Boy did he kick.
10:00am-
Took a while for him to agree with the hackmore
11:00am-
I can lunge him with the saddle on.I kept the stirrups down so he would get used to the feel at his sides.
12:00am-
Lunch time,and a shoping break.Going into town which is an hour away so i won't be back till three or so.
1:00pm-

Just got back.
4:00pm-
Time to test my dog with Tahoe.
5:00pm-
Tahoe did pretty well.I don't think my dog is his favorite thing.I gave him a treat for trying.
6:00pm-
Bed time again...it's been along day.

Thursday, July 4th,2013

Going well with walking in saddle leg cues and neck reining need work.

Missed(Slept in).
7:00am-
Lunged Tahoe and fed him before tacking up.
8:00am-
Okay Tahoe has a saddle on and a sack of feed tied to the saddle,he's not sure what to think.
9:00am-
I think Tahoe is ready to be rode. I've got my helmet on just incase!
10:00am-
Unbelievable!Tahoe is doing great with me in the saddle!Now to work on cues!
