Emyrich #25 )))Winners!

Postby McKellsen » Tue May 21, 2013 3:39 am

What are Emyriches?

Emyriches are large docile creatures that inhabit the large, mystical island of Emyr. They emerge from their leafy lairs at dusk and are active for most of the night and morning. A colony of Emyriches is a tightly knit community, mostly consisting of a couple families. They are very social but completely silent as they lack mouths. They communicate through the bells on their tails which are also completely silent to the average human ear. The Emyriches pick up these signals through their large rabbit like ears and then respond is necessary. How do they eat? Well, they use the colorful pads on their feet to absorb nutrients from plants. This doesn’t harm the plant.
They are the size of a small horse when full grown. Females are slightly taller than males and are usually the ones that lead the colonies. Males mark territories and guard if they have to. Their only means of self defense are their size and small claws on their hind feet.
Cubs are born without a bell, causing them to be mute for the first few months. At two years old, a cub will receive a wrap. This wrap will be their first and probably last. The parent either makes it or hires someone to. This band displays the cubs personality and where they stand in the colony. Females wear them on one of their front legs and males on one of the back. The wraps can be vibrantly colored and intricate but usually match the eyes and paw pads of the cub. They stand out from the naturally colored coat of the Emyrich.

This big guy does have heterochromia. He is blind in his right eye.

~.:How he become blind:.~
"„It was a quiet night, besides the crickes, that is. A white creature slid among the tall oak trees, listening to the gentle swish of the crisp atumn leaves. He sent a light flick through his tail, causing the copper bell tied at the end to ring out a small happy note. He was alone.

He'd never had a colony to protect him. He had lived by himself for his whole life with not even the slightes memory of parents, a home, friends, nothing. In fact he couldn't remeber growing up, either. He'd always just, sort of, been here at this second and never anymore.

The animal shook his head vigorusly. The thoughts of his past and relations always made his head hurt so he simply didn't think about them anymore. He made a strange little dribbling sound come from the bell as he tripped over a root. His eyes widened as he saw a steep hill appear in front of his falling body and felt fear flash through his mind and then he was falling. No more time to think.

The large animal thudded limply, having fallen on his chest on a small, steep ledge. He tried to grab the earth with his small claws, but they caught the leaf litter instead. He felt his body sliding as he struggled to pull the leaves from his claws with his the toes on his hind feet and jangled his copper bell in vein cries for help, but he stony outcropping dissapeared from under his body and he began rolling down the hill. He flashed his claws out in a wild frenzy, trying to grab anything to stop his tumble, but everything was flashing by so fast. It took him by suprise when his body was launced into the air and time seemed to stand still as he caught a glimpse of the sharp rocks lying in wait below. He jerked his tail in a cry of fear and shut his eyes tightly, not wanting to see the jagged points coming any closer. There was a shuddering impact and Platinum's tail winced, provoking the little bell to emit one last terrible wailing tune.„"

~. :How he copes:.~
"„Platinum pried open his eyelids to find himself lying on his side in the leaf litter. He tried to push himself up into a sitting position, but his arm hurt and he couldn't do it. He realized he couldn't see out of his right eye an tried to lift a paw to rub it, but his mucles were too sore so he just lay there, like a piece of road-kill. He couldn'd remember how he got here, now that he thought about it. He was going to be dead for sure. He swivled his large ears around, trying to get a feel of what happened, but the forest was compeltly silent. He jangled his bell in a weak whimper and looked around franticaly with his left eye.

He didn't like how quiet it was. It felt like something was preying on him. He tried again to push himself up, but his bell rang out in pain and he flopped back down onto the hard earth. He was becoming more and more frightened. He could barley see, hear, or smell where he was. He sheathed and unsheathed his claws, in and out of the leaves covering the ground before falling unconcious"„

~.:Why he has the leaves and what they mean to him: .~
"„When the animal awoke he felt a bit better. He was able to push himself up into a sitting position and look around. When he looked back he could see the rocks, glinting harshly in the halflight. He still couldn't figure out how he had survived.

While he sat there pondering a large leaf fell on he head. He jumped a bit and shook it off. He looked up to see an oak tree closely entertwined with an ash tree. Their branches formed a sort of net suspended in the air above the rocks. Platinum squinted his eyes and could see his white fur clining to the branches and was shocked to imagine that these trees had saved his life. His body had probably bounced off the net when he blacked out. Sadly, the net was low-hanging and he could see his blood on the rocks, but that was a small price to pay for his life.

He jangled his bell happily gazing up at the trees in extream gratitude. Another oak leaf fell onto his head, followed by two of the ash's. He delicatly scooped them up and stared at them in his paws. The oak leaves sent a sweet, comforting, warm taste through his paw-pads and the ash went perfectly along with it being slightly smokey. He bend down and pulled a long firm string from his wrap and threaded the three leaves together. He picked up a sharp, yet shiny rust red pebble and secured the string around it. Then, he puntured his ear with the stone. A sting of pain filled his ear, but he didn't care. He wanted to show his gratitude to these trees, even though they were plants, and if he had to stab himself he would.

The leaves hung crisply on his ear as he took one final look at the trees. He shook his tail, causing the copper to jingle out a sort of thank you song as he turned away. He continued to swish his tail as he left the trees behind, his eyes closed, useing his hearing and smell to guide himself as he continued to sing the melody of thanks. He knew he had lost the sight in his right eye, but knew it was better than loosing his life."„

~.:His position in the colony:.~
"„In order to have a place in a colony, one must have a colony in the first place."„

Mountain Sound

How did he become blind?
The Ancient Mountain Shaman wrote:"Blindness Of A Being"
❝...The aggravated chimes ricocheted off the stone walls as they fought. A clawed foot flew past him, and her jumped back, his hind leg sliding on the gravely clifftop. His attacker advanced, and Mount felt his feet slipping, and panic rushed through him. He clanged in pain as the attacker dug their claws into his toes, and a red liquid spread across the stony floor as he began to loose feeling in them. The stranger began to jingle in victory, his bell whipping around with glee as Mount slowly dropped off the cliff. Branches whipped his face as he fell through the thick canopy of leaves above the forest.
... He tried to stand, but was too weak, and slumped over, his nose landing in the thick forest moss. His bell chimed frailly, but no one came. His eyelids began to droop, but a searing pain in his right eye shocked the consciousness back into him, and he sat bolt upright, clutching his eye with his paws. He ran to the neared puddle on three paws, but his appearance was clouded by the blood streaming from his eye. His bell rattled in alarm, but he was still alone, and it was so for many nights, as his cheerless jingles rang out into the silent forest ...❞

How does he cope?
The Ancient Mountain Shaman wrote:"Coping With Pain And Problem"
❝... He had finally gotten his eye to stop bleeding, and that was all fine and dandy, but he was still alone in an unfamiliar forest. He hadn't met many of his kind on his travels, but now, the rare few ran from the sight of his face, the dried blood crusted around his eye. He'd started to keep a leaf covering his unsightly injury, but the season had turned to bittersweet autumn. The leaves had dried and fallen, and were useless in his case. But then again, maybe he'd see more of his own kind, maybe even find his colony.
...He spun around in the brush, dazed. Having only one eye was complicated, and that was the fourth tree he'd walked into today. A red mark was left on the tree, along with about six farther down his path, reminders of the previous week. He swished his tail in anger, his bell ringing indignantly. He began to walk forward when he caught a flash of blue in the trees. she swung around, trying to fix the intruder in his one-eyed stare, but he lost track of it due to his continuous head injuries. He swore loudly, the clanging sound reverberating through the forest. Tears streamed out of his one good eye, obscuring his vision further, and her promptly walked into another tree, swearing again ...❞

Why does he have the leaves and what do they mean to him?
The Ancient Mountain Shaman wrote:"The Meaning Of Leaves"
❝... The stranger stepped gingerly from the shrubs, and he saw from it's wrap position that it was a girl. A pretty girl, at that. "Wh-ho are y-you?" he chimed brokenly, as his bell was badly dented to some extent. "I and Farnearan," she rang, "and you are?" She paused, and he replied, "I-I-I am Moun-ntain S-sound. I-I've been l-lost. Whe-where am I, i mean w-we?" He looked around the clearing, taking in the confused and frightened faces of the creatures around him. A loud clang sounded from behind him, "This is the Ferngullen clearing, and we are the Ferngullen colony." Mount jumped, and slyly swept a dead leaf from the ground over his eye, and turned around to face the voice. Another girl, but this one was much bigger than the one standing beside him, and Mount guessed she must be the leader. "Oh God, I'm sorry... I have the wrong clearing...just let me-" He started to back away, but a sudden gust of wind blew the leaf off his face. The whole clearing gasped, it seemed, but as he looked up at the chief in humiliation, he saw her eyes were smiling warmly ...
... His ear stung, but it was well worth it, and he could feel the chieftain's eyes looking down on him fondly. He stepped away towards the chunk of ice serving as a mirror, and looked at his new addition; a bundle of leaves tied with threads of grass to a metal claw-like object, pushed into his ear, an earring, and an eye patch. "Looks nice" he jingled, and nodding heads accompanied tinkles of agreement around him. He tossed his head, and the leaves fell neatly over his now clean wound. Another shake of his head, and they drifted off again. His bell clanged with joy, "It's perfect! Thank you, Melano." He nodded to the chieftain, who twitched her bell in delight, and patted him on the shoulder, "You're a good kid, you know that?" ...❞

What is his position in the colony?
The Ancient Mountain Shaman wrote:"Life"
❝... He silently cheered as he avoided a head-on collision with another tree, for the first time in days. The chief had told him to explore, just figure out where everything is, but he'd been having trouble, what with having only one eye. But he'd been doing well, slowly but surely getting the hang of seeing only one side of things. He swore quietly has he tripped over the roots of the tree he had so keenly avoided, and a single tear leaked from his eye. "I cannot cry," he clanged angrily, "I am a big government official, a deputy to the chieftain, I guess."...❞

Lightning flickered in the east, the only light for miles as even the moon's glow was hidden in the thick and thundering clouds. Young and unwise i followed the light wanting nothing but to see where these fireworks came from. They where magical and mysterious and i couldn't thing of why or how they where there. So i set out rain darkening my coat and thunder overpowering every sound. I was deff to everything around me and as the rain poured over my face I was unable to see but i kept going.

Okay . . . I just had to pick between two of the best forms I have ever read. I know this was a difficult contest and I was truly stunned by the result.
For blowing me away, both forms will be given and Emyrich. One will be a runner up if the winner wants it. <3

Now for the winners:

Congrats to Bear. for receiving a runner up. Your form was truly stunning. I could tell you poured your heart into it and I won't let you slip away with out getting a reward for your amazing work. <3 Please tell me if you want the runner up and I will have it done as soon as possible. ;3

The winner of this Emyrich is HannahBug! I chose you as the winner because it felt like the leaves had more meaning and a greater relationship with his accident.

Congrats to both of you! I hope to see you around the fanforum and maybe you can join in one of the new roleplays if time permits. =D

I actually went blind for a few hours after having an allergic reaction to a Kiwi a few days ago. XD Poor little Platinum. I feel for you. XD
