The moon and the stars swirl in the sky,

Personality: Despite his name and looks; Thanatos isn't exactly what he seems. He's silent and strong, watching everything quietly and with an odd discipline. At times, he can be a bit overconfident; as well as willing to go first. Thanatos is one of those that may be silent, but strides through life with an aura as bright and stand-out as himself.

His parents gave him the name Aza'zel, which is Hebrew for Angel of Death, due to the way his marking appear. However, he prefers to simply go by Az or Zaz, so that he isn't constantly reminded of how others perceive his appearance.

Age:

He is 7 years, 10 months old; so he's seen 94 moons rise and 31 seasons pass him by.

Personality:

Due to his appearance, most are a tad rude to him - or completely avoid him. Because of this, he has taken to acting stand-offish and as if he prefers solitude to the company of other Whip-Tail Equines. Aza'zel is short with others and acts as if he will simply ignore any who bother to try and interact with them; this is because he's come to mistrust those who claim they want to get to know him better.
At heart, he is actually a friendly and outgoing stallion, despite how others often treat him. Zaz feels the bitter bite of loneliness regularly and often wishes he could just trust others who might actually wish to spend time in his company. However, he is too scared to do so - afraid of feeling the sting of betrayal once more - and looks to other creatures for companionship. Thanks in part to his gentle nature and his height, he has found that he can spend time with other herbivores in the warm jungles - even if it is merely as a silent guardian against predators, as he can't communicate with them easily.

He was born unlike the rest, for
He bore a pelt that looked like death.

He felt the tang of loneliness early on, as
He watched as others turned away.

He carried hope in his heart, yet
He believed that there was at least one out there.

He trusted in those who dared approach, and
He felt the bitter sting of betrayal often.

He now travels alone, or
He mingles with those not of his kind briefly.

He still feels isolated, but
He hides behind a mask of anti-socialness.

He consoles himself, that
He is not an outcast.

He walks friendless in the world, but
He acts as if this isn't so.

He has the deer and birds, or
He can spend time with the stars.

He silently watches as the herds interact, and
He wishes that one day he will be with them.

He thinks there will be one who comes to him, yet
He doesn't manage to turn away with his looks or retorts.

He watches as others turn away, as
He walks toward them.

He travels in solitude, for
He was born unlike the rest.

I tried to round it out, and I apologize about the somewhat repetitious aspect of this free-verse poem with no rhyme scheme. I wanted to put emphasis on his solitary state - and that his dark markings are the cause of this - while also conveying a little of his backstory and personality in there ^^"
