Short Story:
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and I was restless. I inhaled my breakfast and slipped on my shoes, then trotted outside. The woods looked lovely and I had nothing to do. I walked to the line of tall trees, took a deep breath and stepped in. The forest never ceased to amaze me, and this outing was no different. Does and their delicate fawns cropped the new spring grass. Rabbits bounded all over, their ears flopping humorously.
As I was watching the woodland animals go about their business, I was stunned by the silence. Gazing around the copse of trees, I noticed that the innocent creatures had disappeared. I heard a slight whiffing sound that seemed extremely familiar. It came to me fast, it was one of the sounds my horses made. Whirling around I saw a beautiful gray colt standing shock still. I stepped carefully towards him and he danced away from me. Remembering a trick I had learned I sat on the ground, closed my eyes and made no movements. In a few minutes I heard soft footfalls approaching me. I opened my eyes and watched as the colt nuzzled me. After extending my hand to him and ensuring that he was not leaving I slipped a rope around his neck, leading him back home.
Cute! He is just old enough to be a big boy! He was just caught and brought to Cottonwood Ranch. To win him, tell me a really short story on how hard it was to catch him and how he ended up in your hands!
He will pass on to all of his foals his hard-to-train and wild personality!
