I have to put it out there that I love this guy.
To try for him, describe/show to me the creature that would be his best friend and companion, and explain why. Then write him a short personality and give him a name.

Companion:
I thought long and hard about a suitable companion for Rohan, and in the end, I decided that he'd have to be friends with a bat. He needed a companion that could fly alongside him in an emergency, but was also small enough to ride along with him or cling to him. At first I thought that a bird might be nice, but the more I thought about it, the more the idea of a nocturnal friend appealed to me. Bats are cute and helpful and widely misunderstood. So, the bat research began.

To be more specific, his best friend is a Common Pipistrelle (not my page) named Cicily. Common Pipistrelles are Europe's smallest bat, and Cee measures exactly four centimeters long from her nose to the base of her tail. She's got delicate features and a longer snout than usual for this sort of bat, and her fur is silky and unusually creamy in its hue.
Cicily was born in an out-of-the-way cave in a dense forest in Norway, but longed for adventure. Rohan got lost in said forest, and took refuge in Cicily's family's cave to escape the cool Winter wind. Cicily led him to a pool of water in the cave (for he was very thirsty), and the two quickly became fast friends. When it was time for Rohan to leave, Cicily begged to be taken along. So, she was.
Rohan and Cicily only speak at sunset. In the daytime, Cicily sleeps, tucked into Rohan's mane when he flies, or under his wing when he is on land. She wakes as the sun begins to set, and for an hour or so, she and Rohan play and laugh and talk, before he must rest. While he sleeps, Cicily catches the insects which flutter around and threaten to bite her friend.

They are never vulnerable. Each creature always has someone to watch out for them.
Personality:
Rohan is a particularly coltish colt: Energetic, impulsive and as fiery as his coat.
Born with an almost insufferable curiosity, Rohan wants to see, do and experience everything. No exceptions. He's still young enough to have a great deal of faith in his own abilities, but just becoming old enough to learn caution. He has a lightning temper, and is as quick to become angry as he is to laugh. He has not yet grown into concept of 'flight', and tends to pick a fight with anything and everything, unless Cicily, the voice of reason, talks him out of it. How he survived so long without Cicily, nobody knows.
Rohan is fiercely independent. He will not be a suboordinate, and is quite determined to lead. He's not popular with other stallions for this reason, but as of yet he is undeterred, and continues to look for a herd to lead.
What Rohan doesn't show is his eye for beauty. He plays the tough guy, but in fact, he has an open heart, willing to love, and that was why he was able to befriend Cicily, who is, admittedly, a rather unlikely friend. He has a poetic twist to his soul, and cherishes the wonderful and unusual things he encounters on his journeys and adventures.

Personality: Hidalgo is a very proud boy. He loves to take the lead role in anything he can, although he is nice, not mean like other leaders might be. He is also a joker, and loves to horse around and act like a colt.

Personality: Jasper is a bit closed up to others he isn't very close with, afraid they will judge him, but with his family and close freinds (includes Amber) he takes down his wall, and let's his heart sing.

Personality: Ember has a fiery personality, much like his companion the phoenix. That is why they get along so well. He is very optimistic. He loves to be the center of attention and is a big Ladies man.

Companion: His companion would be a squirrel, The fuzzy little buddy reflects his wild personalty, it also thinks his back is the best nutcracker in the world. The squirrel is only a badder influence on his already terrible manners, she just gives him the most outrageous thoughts, oh by the way the squirrels name would be Hazel ((for hazelnut)) she loves to watch him do is dangerous stunts, while others close there eyes and wait for the crash, she is hasty and we'll not really sain, to be nice. Almost every one Chestnut knows had tried to discretely and "accidently" feed hazel to a coyote, or animal of the sort.
Personality: Chestnut is the wildest EQA you will ever meet, you could almost call him crazy. It is near impossible to keep him sitting still, or even quite for that matter, he always chatting up a storm or trying to the most stupid stunts in the air, he is seriously the horse version of a redneck. Chestnut may act this way, be he really is a nice Avis, he is just, well, ummmmm......... whats the word? Different! yes, different, he care a ton about others, but the way he shows it may just make others think over and ponder it for a bit. so in a few words Chestnut is crazy, loud, twittery, and most importantly, a redneck.

Companion: His companion would be an Baltimore Oriole. The Baltimore Oriole would be his companion because this type of bird is heard more often then they are seen, much like Pyrite, so he feels a connection to the birds by that, but also in other ways too. The birds have a distinctive chatter, which Pyrite happens to enjoy because of it being unlike any other bird, and he's also intrigued by the color pattern of the birds. He enjoys flying around with the Baltimore Oriole and listen to their chatter and singing.
Personality: Pyrite is just as his name suggests. He's a trickster and loves to mess with people as much as possible. Pyrite is also quite sarcastic and he can come off as a little mean because of this though he is really quite kind. He can be outgoing but he's actually very shy so he is often hiding to avoid being found. Because of his shyness he is a bit socially awkward and he doesn't really enjoy talking or being in a large groups. He can be quite serious too though, taking some things a little too seriously sometimes, which can make his tricks even better; for him.

Companion: Giligan a flying Platypus would be his companion. Although small and unusual in species. He's the dedicated buddy to this magnificent fly, so they fly together in the sky's, never leaving one out or on the ground, as they can both soar with their gift given wings. Damon also quite likes the comfort and such that comes with such a quite companion, other than the occasional sound that platypus' do make. And although their coats may clash a little their personalities do not.
Personality: Damon has a deep inner need for quiet, and a desire to understand and analyze the world they live in, and to learn the deeper truths. Which is why Giligan is probably such a curious companion to him.
Damon tends to be quiet, cooperative, considerate, sympathetic to others, adaptable, balanced and sometimes shy. He is trustworthy, respectful of the confidences of others, and an excellent diplomat, mediator and partner. Damon is also very intuitive. Liking details and order, although he finds change worrisome at times and sometimes feels restless, Giligan is always their to center him. He is also a hero and always wants to help others out, even before his safety and after everything is said and done he gets pretty shy in front of the ladies.
