Vashta Nerada. The story behind this name is of a Whovian race of small aliens, who are basically the tiny piranhas of the air. They hunt by becoming your second shadow; you'd never expect it. When you spoke of surviving the Plague, and I saw his colors, it was the first thing that came to mind. Normally, I keep my geeky things out of it, but it was too good a thing to pass up.▪ History (At least a paragraph- Five Lines):
As stated above, this Whelkon has not had an easy life. Struggling through the survival of the plague, he is rebuilding his life step by step. A loner, he lost all his family to the plague, and this loneliness still resides within him. He does his best not to dwell in the past, though it is hard. His parents are gone, as are both his younger sisters, and all of his friends. That does not stop him from keeping his head up. He will stop at nothing to keep going.
Think of him as a soldier, a veteran of war. His perseverance, his stubborn nature, and his true loyalty make him stop at nothing to protect the ones he loves. He has a heavy heart, though it is made of gold through-and-through. He'll never speak of his past unless it is in a solemn way, for there is no fun in his history. His only fond memories of when his younger sisters were born, and he cherishes them greatly. He'll often gain a wistful look when thinking or speaking about his family, as he longs for the days when they surrounded him in numbers. Now, he is but a lone wolf.▪ Short Story (Again, at least a paragraph):
The wise, dark male lay in a forest's clearing, adorned with little pink and white flowers that blossomed with sweet, alluring scents. His immensely soft tail draped over his legs, and his front hooves stretched out and he gave a small, relaxed grunt. Stretching out, he laid his head on the soft, plush grass and stared wistfully up at the cerulean sky. The tranquil silence of the scene seemed to burst around him, and cheery leaves waved in the wind above him.The solitary figure raised his head, sitting up with a small smile.
The little ornaments on his horns clicked together merrily, and Vash yawned magnificently. He blinked lazily, a small movement almost like a smile flashing across his muzzle in a fleeting way. Heaving himself to his feet without problem, he shook twigs from his coat and stretched once more. Beginning to trot, he exited the clearing. He could hear the sounds of his neighboring Whelkons, though there were few in the whole forest, waking up as well. It was a fine morning, so he couldn't blame them for getting up as early as he was, though normally he would sleep in much later.
Tail flicking and swaying as he gained speed, he listened to the sounds of the forest. "Well," he thought aloud to himself as he continued to lengthen his strides, "I can see this will be a lovely day." Vashta Nerada, though hardly anyone called him by his full name, was an optimist, despite his dark stature, and could always predict something good coming out of even the bleakest times. It had been what kept him going all this time.▪ Why do you want this Whelkon?:
Haha, the easy part. I could go on and on with this one, but I won't. I hope I didn't overdo any of the above, either, but I dedicate myself to what I'm doing. This Whelkon included. I made sure I followed all the rules with adopting him, because he is mesmerizing. The colors blend perfectly, and the way his emotions seem to paint themselves upon his noble face, contrasting perfectly with his colors, well it brought awe to me.
Fox knows I've been stalking this thread for a while now, trying to suck up the courage to say, "I want him!" I've read others' entries, and honest, they are all well done in their own way. This boy reminds me a lot of a pet of mine, who has gone through a lot, though she only two years old. I know from personal experience that you can never just give up, and this one reminds me of that every time I look at him. If I do obtain him, I will hold him close to my heart. Neither of my other Whelkons have been left in the dust; on the contrary, I pay attention to them and get them other art, visiting their character page often. It would be no different for him.
Finally decided to suck it up and enter. ^^ Tried to stick with dark colors for the form, since he's so dark and lovely. c:
