Hover foxes are cuddly, adorable fox hybrids with unusually large furry ears. As infants they are born with very small, proportional-sized ears, but as they reach childhood, those ears grow so large they can use them to hover a little bit above the ground and glide short distances. Of course, that can't last and by the time they reach adulthood they do grow into their ears a bit and are no longer able to use them for 'flight'. Their diet consists of seafood and different types of sweet and sour fruit, depending on their taste preference and where they live. Most HFs grow to be the size of a german shepherd, though you'll occasionally get some that are larger.
During a short trip into the Amazon Rainforest, I was suprised to come across a rather strange sight. My guide had been leading me through the forest with ease, making sure that I stayed on his trail so I wouldn't get lost. We'd been travelling for several hours and had stopped to eat some lunch.
It was during this time that my guide left me momentarily so he could scout ahead and make sure that the trail was clear and safe ahead of us. Rather than waiting for him to return, I pulled out my lunch, a tuna sandwich, and began to eat. The smell of the tuna attracted something that I was very surprised to see within this area, a lone male hoverfox of massive size, snuffling his way toward me.
When I looked up at him, he froze, his eyes darting back toward the underbrush he'd come from, unsure if it was safe to continue moving toward me. I stayed still, my food halfway to my mouth, not wanting to frighten the creature. Very slowly, I lowered my sandwich and tore off a piece which I placed on the ground near me.
The fox snuffled again, his large ears flattening against his head as he ever so slowly inched toward the food at my feet. When he deemed himself close enough, he flicked out his tongue and snapped up the bite into his mouth, darting back out of my reach immediately. He then chewed and swallowed the morsel before tipping his head to one side, intrigued by the fishy flavor. It became apparent to me that he'd never had fish before, something nearly unheard of for hoverfoxes since fish makes up 80% of their diet normally.
Carefully, I held out the rest of the sandwich toward him. He moved forward cautiously, ears flat again, nervous. His body crouched more the closer he got and he eventually stopped, stretching out his neck and then his muzzle as far as he could, taking the sandwich by the crust. As soon as he was sure he had ahold of it, he darted backward again, catching it better as he did, and then disappeared into the underbrush completely.
My guide soon returned and I asked him about the lone fox and if he'd ever seen any other hoverfoxes in the forest.
"Hoverfoxes? In this place? Not a chance, they like fish, the only places in this forest that have foxes are the places closest to the ocean. But here in the middle? Finding a hoverfox is unheard of."
I shrugged, knowing exactly what I had seen. We continued deeper into the forest and my mind wandered back to the fox I'd seen. I wasn't sure how he'd gotten so deep into the forest, but one thing was for sure, he'd grown up in this area and somehow managed to thrive. Even so, he didn't belong here, my guide was right about that much.PoisonedApple wrote:Username:

Going to work on it. I'm am going to use pages to write the story so It'll be up at least by tomorrow. Well here's part of it.
Username: Amberblaze
Name: Ankskar
Gender: Male
Short story: (300+ words) I was walking in the Amazon Rainforest with a tour guide when I looked at a rustling in the bushes. The tour guide walked ahead but I was more interested in the bushes. Soon I couldn’t hear the other people and saw a small nose poke out of the bushes. A green, blue and cream colored snout poke out of the bushes. The nose started to quiver and the rest of the head came out. It was a green fox-like creature with large ears. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life! I thought to myself. I thought way back to what I had heard many years ago. I didn’t remember when I heard it but I remembered what it was. A hover fox? I had heard that they were mystical creatures and when they were little they could hover with their ears. It walked out of the bushes, and I was instantly sad. It looked scrawny and he had to limp due to a back leg. I tore off my backpack and grabbed everything from my lunch. I dumped it in front of him and he gobbled it up quickly. He again backed up and looked up at me suspiciously.
“Being a mystical creature, what am I supposed to feed you?” I asked aloud. I smiled and he looked at me a little more confidently and walked up closer to me. “Where do you live?” I asked into the air. The Hover Fox made a sound between a yip and a bark. He then walked along the trail I came down. I followed him and saw a hollowed out tree. He then again made his yip-bark and ran into the tree. I smiled and followed him into there. There was a small moss bed and some fish ribs. I walked up beside the Hover Fox and sat next to him.
“Want to come with me?’ I asked to him. He did his bark-yip yet again which I took as a yes. I hugged him and we walked up to find guide. Well, let's say he didn't really agree to the hug, more of me petting his back.
Okay to be honest, I tried to hug him and he almost bit me.
I"ll probably fix up things later. Oh, I will have to edit quite a few times because I might lose it if I just do it all! So, it's a WIP really.

Short story:
I'm going to tell you the story of how I met my human. It's my favorite to tell so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
A series of thudding and a high pitch laughing suddenly jolted me awake, forcing me to my paws faster than I can remember. What was that? I thought, whipping my head around while flattening my ears back. On gentle paws I made my way to the safety of a thick tree, feeling my fur prickle with excitement each step. Would I get to chase another animal? Or maybe it was another Hoverfox, being forced away to find more food since it was so little at the ocean. As I peered around the side of the tree, a sharp clicking noise behind me caught my attention. With little haste, I whipped around to find myself faced with two towering beasts. The one, seemed like they could care less while the other stared down at me, its beady eyes locking with mine. Humans. I remembered the name of the creatures from stories told as a child. I had only seen one when I was a teen, hovering around the trees like a goof and the human was running from me but this was different. From what I've heard they liked to take us home with them, keep us as pets. There was no way I was doing that. I was about to turn and run when the human staring down made that irritating clicking noise. I backed up a little, wincing as the noise rang through my ears. The human seemed to take notice because it immediately stopped and started to whisper something. "Come here, I won't hurt you." It said in a soft voice, kneeling down to eye level and stretching out a hand towards me. I jumped back a few more feet but that's when I noticed the object in the hand. I almost forgot what it was it'd been so long since I had one. It was a large, slimy fish that must've been caught earlier that morning. She shook it gently, I think it was a female human, and I watched as the silver-red scales glistened. It smelled delicious, and it really couldn't hurt to take a bite. I approached cautiously, tilting my head to one side as I watched the human's movement's carefully. She held the fish tight and sat on the ground, folding her two legs underneath her. I jumped slightly but relaxed after a second. "It's okay little guy." She whispered again as I sniffed the fish. She gently placed it on the ground in front of me and then just sat there, watching me. I wanted to take the fish and run but it was a gift, and the human didn't seem all that bad. So there I stood, quietly eating my gift fish. The human turned and quietly began to chatter with the other human. "Why's he so far from the water?" I heard over my chewing. The other human, I think it was a male, sighed and shook his head before turning and began walking away. I watched how she would react to her companion leaving but it was as though she didn't register it at all. I suddenly felt more comfortable, less nervous and relaxed. I lay down, my side gently brushing against her legs in the process. As I began to finish off the rest of the fish, I felt something touch my shoulder and the sudden rush to run pitted itself in my stomach again. I stopped eating and stared at her through the corner of my eye, quickly shuffling out of her reach. I watched her face as I started to eat the fish again but I was surprised to see her still smiling, gently placing her hands on her legs. After I finished the fish, I felt the longing for more and let out a small whimper. I flinched as she reached out her hand again and I almost prepared to run. But then the sweet scent of fruit wafted over me and brought me to my senses. She held out a small red fruit, gently waving it towards me. I shuffled on my stomach towards her but kept a fair distance. Stretching my neck out, I gently nibbled at the fruit, never taking my eyes off of her. After I finished off the fruit, I licked the stray juice droplets from my mouth. She's not that bad... I thought, inching a little closer. I wanted to smell her for some reason, understand her scent. She stayed still, her hand still extended as she watched with a smile. She smelled nice. Like that bean that falls on my head in the windy season. Cocoa bean I think it was called. "Theós." She said quietly, reaching her other hand up to scratch behind my ear. I flinched for a moment but didn't move away. It felt relaxing, to the point that I felt my eyes begin to droop and my head begin to bob until I finally gave in and rest my head on her leg. Humans aren't that bad. I thought happily, inhaling her sweet cocoa scent as the hand scratched my ear. I eventually found myself dozing off. I dreamed of fish, fruit and cocoa beans. The human was there and we were both fishing. I'm not sure how long I slept for but what finally woke me up was her gently standing up, trying not to wake me. But she didn't know I was a light sleeper. It had gotten darker and I guessed she had to return to whoever that male human was but here's the strange thing, I didn't want her to go. I wanted to be pet more, engulfed in that cocoa smell everyday, eat fish and sleep. I slowly stood up as well and stared up at her. She smiled and gently scratched the top of my head. "Goodnight Theós." She said softly before turning and walking away, leaving me standing in the darkness. "No." I huffed aloud, only to myself though as she was engulfed in the darkness. I refused to let her leave me alone. I wanted to be pet more and I wasn't about to be left alone again. I took off into the darkness after her yipping loudly as I went, I refused to give up on finding the kind human and besides, I was still hungry and she somehow provided me with fish. It wasn't until early the next morning did I find her, on the edge of the forest with a large metal flying creature that her companion was loading boxes into. "Hey!" I snorted, trying to get her attention. I wasn't sure how she heard it but she heard something and turned, staring straight at me until finally locking eyes with me again. She smiled and waved at me but didn't move any farther. Why wouldn't she be more excited to see me. I started to move out of the trees I had called home and towards her, glancing over my shoulder to watch as I distanced myself from the edge. Once I was only a few feet away from her I jogged forward and nudged up against her leg, always keeping one eye on the trees. She laughed, different than the one I heard the other day, and gently began petting me. "Hello, Theós. It's time for me to go home." She said quietly, a pang of sadness in her tone as she scratched behind my ears. The male human grumbled something to her, and she turned to look at him. They whispered some things that I couldn't hear with a few gestures towards me and then the forest. She suddenly held up a hand and pulled some weird things out of one of those strange pouches on her leg. They looked like a leaves that had been cut carefully all the same shape and were stranger colors than leaves. For what reason would he need leaves? She started to hand them to the male human till he finally looked pleased and walked away towards the flying creature. She sighed and turned to look at me, a smile on her face. "Come on Theós, we're going to go home now with vast oceans and plenty of fruit." She said softly, gently patting my forehead and walking after the other human. Fruit and fish everyday, cocoa scents all the time. It sounded great but still, I just stood there, in that open patch of land, so vulnerable and far from the trees. I looked back at the trees for a moment. If that isn't home, what is? I thought sadly, staring at them for a moment. Then I heard that familiar word. "Theós?" What did it mean? Why did she always say it? She was watching me, still smiling as she stood half in half out of the flying creature. I am Theós, and I'm going home. I decided before bolting into a run with a smile, towards the flying machine and my new human who would take me home.

Hello, my username is Cody's Lost It, but It's best if you prefer to call me Cody. ^^
Hmm I can't decide, so I've decided to put a list of names, but your going to have to read the story first. I want you to understand it more why I've list out each if these names. Just chose which you you liked most.
This fella's name if going to be...
Nahele ; meaning forest in Hawaiian. This name really fits along well with him from how I've gotta him out at the Amazon Rain forest.
Tuna ; meaning is a type of fish, you'll understand if you read through the story why I would call it Tuna.
Nahele / Tuna is defiantly a male.
I was out traveling and exploring new types of species out in the Amazon. I wanted to find a couple of feathers and collect them and put them into my photo album book for memories on how I spent over here at the Amazon Rain Forest. Or maybe collect different types of leaves, but they'll end up dieing out in the end, so I have to take pictures of them instead. I wasn't really the type of person interested in bugs, they all creepy me out; even butterflies. But I wouldn't be the one to run away and freak out, I would be the one that just starts out some kind of tantrum attack at it, until I see that it was dead and smashed up. Than I'll continue back over to my journey with the crew members.
As we continued further off into the Forest. I suddenly gotten distracted by taking so many pictures of beautiful birds that were flying by, the crew went off and left me behind. While I stood there taking a nice good pose of this nice sea blue like colored bird. Once I taken a few shots, I turned around and noticed everyone was gone, there was no way I would called them, because there was barely any service around here at the forest. And yelling wouldn't really do any help. The forest animals would just block out my yelling with all the chirping and all type of different noises around me. And also looking at these trees. These trees were humongous! I really couldn't explain their sizes. All I know was that, they weren't like the trees I've see back at home.
Well, now that I am lost, I've decided to continue on walking. I wasn't going to stand there and waited for the crew to turn back around and try to find me. I wanted to continue, continue to take more pictures. See more species and all sort of other things. I than suddenly paused and noticed something walking over behind a tree a about a few yards away. It was this light green color with a bit of blue. I wasn't sure of it, but I've quickly picked up my camera and zoomed in seeing that it was a hover fox! I've remember hearing stories about these foxes. It was my very first time seeing one. But I've never heard of one being around here at the Amazon Forest, I thought it was quiet odd. But yet it was very interesting.
Right when I was going to take a picture, the hover wolf disappeared behind a tree. I sigh than I decided to step forward a bit, but not to close by the tree. It was a wild animal and I have to keep my distances.
As I got to as close I can to the tree. I seen the Hover wolf just sniffing onto the ground. I couldn't really see it's face. It was turned around, but either way I've taken a picture. Once it 'click!' the Hover Fox turned around and looked over to me. I was amaze by it's looks. I slowly lower my arms down, trying to lay low my camera. Right now I didn't want to take picture of this thing, I didn't want to scare it off. As I stood there, the Hover Wolf just sniffed around the air. He slowly started walking towards me, than he quickly jumped back. He looked pretty hungry, telling from how I could see the ribs showing out from his stomach, he defiantly was! As he circled around me. He was just stand right behind. It should like he was growling, but he didn't seem like he wanted to hurt me.
He quickly blot towards me and to my shoulder back. He put his head it and pulled out one of my tuna sandwich. I was actually planing on eating that, but guess I wont. Either way this guy deserves to have it more than eye do. As he fought to try to remove the plastic wrapper, he ate the tuna sandwich and turned around and sat, staring straight at me. I didn't know what to do, I do remember packing about 4 tuna sandwich in my bag. So I decided, to give them to him. Before I did I slowly keeled down and removed off my bag. I opened the back slowly and took out of the of the tuna sandwich. I slowly unwrap it, I broke it in half and threw it over to him.
As he sat up and took a few steps over to the half tuna sandwich and sniff it, he picked it up into his mouth and started eating it. Once he was down he lick his lips and took 3 steps forwards, he still seemed afraid and yet very hungry. So I decide to put my arm out and showed him the tuna sandwich. He stepped a few more steps closer, he kept an eye on me and quickly went over to my hand and started eating off of it. I smile and took out the other 2 I had and feed them to him. Once he finished off eating all of those I gently pet him on the head, "I see that you like Tuna don't you? If you want more you can always come along with me."
The hover fox stared at him and started sniffing around my back to see if there was anymore. As static like sound came out around me and a voice came out, "Cody can you hear me? Cody can you hear me, wherever you at stay where you are and we'll find you." Right now I felted stupid, our of this whole time, I've forgotten that I had a walkie talkie the whole time. He took it out my back pocket and replied, "Ok, and you wont believe what I'll be bring back home." I said and gently started to pet the hover wolfs head.
The End
