EDIT - 7 June - changed a detail about the family members she lost
A bit over 200 words

Hope it's ok....
▪ Username: Tarra
▪ Whelkon Name: Aoife (meaning "beauty")
▪ History :
I was a welk when the humans first came; and the devastation they wrought we will never forget. It was rumours we first heard, tales of herds disappearing, of torn trees and ripped bushes where they were last seen. Of stragglers who bore tales of strange two-legged beasts with long vines and brown sticks - driving unfortunate herds away to an unknown fate. So was fear born among us, and it has never left.
My uncle and my cousin numbered amongst the lost. My father left to find them; for days I heard his voice in the distance, calling. He eventually returned, haggard and aged, unsuccessful. So the fear grew like a disease that would not heal; we who never feared illness became weak with terror as our numbers ailed. We grew secretive, startling at every sound, watching from shadows, learning to hide our hoofprints wherever we might roam. Fugitives, captives in our own forests, as shy as deer of our own shadows. It was not the life I had been born into, but it was the life I learnt to live. We had no choice.
Perhaps one day the humans will go; perhaps someday they will stop coming, stop taking us, stop stalking our roads. But till then we keep our distance. And hope we will not be found again.
▪ Personality :
Lyrical, poetic and intelligent. Such are the words used to describe Aoife, and they are not far from the truth. She speaks with an oddly musical quality that makes her stand out. On the rare occasions she sings she can almost charm birds off their branches. She's no air-headed diva either - Aoife is a quick-witted and very smart girl, particularly in the ways of survival away from humans. Being relatively young she can still rather naive about some things though. Aoife is also a guarded beast at heart. Her early experiences have crafted a creature whose trust is not easily earned. She walks the tight line between commitment and necessity - she never leaves a companion behind if possible, but is aware she sometimes has no choice. Few are those who truly befriend Aoife, but those who do will find her a genuine and loyal companion.
▪ Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences):
She's lovely, simple. The plain lavender and lilac hues didn't catch my eye at first, but the uniqueness of her leg and neck markings make her stand out.
