During his time on the island, Cherry has spoken to many people. Would he say he had been helpful? Why, of course! That was his job. It was what he lived for. Would he say they respected him? Most certainly. After all, he had given them no reason not to. But, would he say he considered these Kalons his friends?
Well, yes. Yes he would. Coming out here, he hadn’t expected to grow as close to the locals as he had. But after spending time with them every day, hearing about their interests, and helping them with their needs, Cherry couldn’t help but grow attached. He’d spent a lot of time around them all, but perhaps there was one who he’d gotten even more attached to than most.
“Shark!” Cherry waves to the somewhat disgrlookijg mechanic as he apprached the ship.
“Oh, hey. What are you doing here?” Shark only glanced up from his work as he responded.
“You said to say my goodbyes, so that’s what I’m here for. I know I’m usually the one helping people, but you... Well, you’ve done more for us and our ship than anyone here, if I may say.” Shark looked up and him and, as he began to stand up, Cherry held out a hand in a sort of awkward handshake gesture. Shark took his hand, smiling ever so slightly. “Again,” Cherry began, “thank you. And, good luck with the professor.”
And with that, he turned and headed to the beach for one last day of relaxation.
