Rhea was humming her favorite tune as she marched behind Li-Wei, following him closely. She always enjoyed bringing fun into weird, awkward, or serious situations. Right now, this would be a serious situation considering the kind of quests they're on and Li was currently ignoring her because she just does everything so carelessly - his words, not Rhea's.

She took a long sigh and plopped down onto the floor when her friend seemed clueless on where to go or what to do next. She noticed something out of the corner of her eye that looked similar to some kind of chest, but it looks like Li had already spotted that. "Hey, what's that?" He asked and Rhea crossed her arms like a child and released a huff. "Come on, I'm not actually ignoring you.." he rolled his eyes, but she didn't bother answering back or looking at him. "You're such a child, y'know that?" He growled and made his way over to the weird looking chest. "Now, how do we go about opening this?" He asked and looked over at Rhea and she sighed, walking over his way. There was really no use in fighting, considering something good could be in this chest.

"We could just try and smash it," Rhea shrugged and she picked it up, holding her hands up high above her head - the chest was really light - and attempted to smash it on the ground, but before it reached there, Li took it from her hands. She glared at him, "what was that for, you idiot?" She was actually becoming quite annoyed by his behavior.

"We're not smashing it, Ree." He sighed, "it could land up in the lava, and if it's valuable, we don't want that, do we?"

"Okay, I'm sorry. May I have it back?" Rhea asked kindly and Li, of course, handed it back to her. She put it on the ground, looking like she had a plan to open it. But instead, within a few seconds, she picked it up and tossed it straight into the lava. Li-Wei couldn't even register what had just happened, he was in total shock. "Happy now?" She growled at him.

"Why.. why on Earth would you do that Rhea?!" He was getting furious and you could tell just by his facial expression. He was also clenching his hands, as if he was resisting trying not to hurt the girl in the party of two. "We could've had our hands on another crystal, or maybe some valuable gems or jewelry we could sell for money! But no, you decide to ruin it and throw it in the lava.. what is wrong with you?" He hissed angrily.

"Nothing's wrong with me. It was really light anyway, nothing good had to be in there, right?" She laughed to herself, seeing as Li was still extremely angry. "Alright, I'm sorry. I just wanted you to chill. And I mean.. it hasn't worked yet.. haha.." She chuckled nervously and started to walk in the opposite direction of the male kalon.

"You think I'm going to calm down now?" His face was turning red by how irritated and angry he was, but there was nothing he could do now except follow Rhea and continue on with their mission.

Featuring Eden and Calypso

"Ow!" Eden crashed to the hot stones which lined the lavalands. She had tripped over some kind of rock, cracking it open. Inside rest a magical-looking box, locked with some kind of golden contraption. For extra, (and obnoxious) measures, it was well-wrapped with chains made out of metal...and in this place, that metal was hot. The kalon quickly scooped up the object, and then immediately dropped it after it burned her fingertips.

"Neat," chirped Calypso, prancing to the side of her hurt friend. She didn't even look at Eden, who lay scowling, on the stones, but instead focused her attention on that glittery box of wonders. What if treasure rest inside of it? What if it had a map to a secret garden, or a message from a wizard. Maybe there would even be a chocolate bar inside...wait, no, it would melt in this ridiculous heat. Hopefully, thought Calypso, there would be no such thing. "How does it open?" she asked.

Calypso knew better than to try and touch the box after seeing what it did to her friend's paws. Instead, she just examined it, bringing her face a little too closely. Surely, one would think that she would have learned her lesson, but instead Calypso ended up scorching her whiskers off. "I'm not sure," responded Eden.

The two kalons, now both seeking revenge, were desperate to open that incredible object. They would do anything at this point. Eden tried picking the lock, Calypso tried sculpting a key. But time after time, the object would not open. Hope was dwindling fast.

Finally, Calypso had enough. She let out a ferocious yell, and whipped a boulder down with all of her might against the lock, and the chains, and the box itself. There was a loud crunch, and as she lifted her makeshift weapon up, she was rewarded with a beautiful sight. The impact had shattered the protective gear, leaving a plain and simple sight. Now, to open it.

Needless to say, from here on, things didn't go so hot for the two kalons. The box was flung against the wall, Eden began to yell rude words, and Calypso had a miniature temper-tantrum at the sight of its contents. Inside of that glittering object rest a chocolate bar...a sad, flimsy, melted piece of candy which dribbled its chocolaty goodness all over the ground.

The path ahead was a clear as a rainy day.

Cinna continued on her way, glad to feel the air on her newly-exposed neck even if it wasn’t the cool breeze she truly desired. She was relieved that the lavalands at least had some form of a path, as opposed to the directionless chaos of the forest. Sure, maybe it wound in and out of the bubbling pools of deadly lava, but beggars can’t be choosers. She wasn't going to complain.

A gleam of light on metal caught her eye as she rounded another bend, and she stopped to look. Something was hidden rather poorly behind a rock, and from what she could tell it was a fairly decent size. Her curiosity piqued, Cinna strayed a bit off the path to investigate.

Behind the rock was a silver chest that was inscribed with runes meant to ward away heat. Clearly whatever was inside was very important, for the previous owner had placed a heavy lock and chain around the chest to prevent someone from accessing its contents. Or to keep what was inside from getting out. It could be either, honestly. Of course, this only increased Cinna’s intrigue, and while she normally wasn’t one to snoop, well… it was hard to resist opening such a rich-looking box. But she didn’t have a key… how exactly was she supposed to open it?

Maybe she could use brute force. She pulled out her rolling pin and gave the lock several good whacks. The whole chest shook from the force, but the lock stayed intact minus a few scratches. Cinna grit her teeth and gave it another round, using both arms to increase the force. Still, nothing happened. Giving a small growl, she raised the rolling pin high above her head and put her whole body into one last hit. There was a resounding crack of solid wood on metal, but when she looked, the lock was still in one piece. Panting heavily, she returned the rolling pin back to her bag and shook her head a bit. “Okay, so that didn’t work…” She sighed and toyed with a stray bit of hair as she thought. “Oh!” She pulled out the hairpin she used to put up her braid and began to pick the lock. It took her a good while, but finally she heard a click and the lock broke free. She pinned her braid back into a crown and took the chains off the chest. Taking a deep breath, she opened the lid, eager to see what lay inside.

Her excitement quickly shifted to confusion as she looked into the chest. The only thing it contained was a gray, perfectly spherical rock. It was pretty plain aside from a dull luster, and other than its shape there didn’t appear to be anything special about it. She picked it up - gosh, it was heavy - to get a closer look, but even then it was pretty boring. There weren’t any runes or inscriptions that showed any magical abilities. It was just an old, gray orb. Cinna felt a bit cheated after all the effort she had put into opening the chest. She thought about leaving it behind, but decided against it. “I guess I could… throw it at something?” She shrugged and put it into her pack, struggling a bit with the weight but determined to keep it on her.

Who knows, maybe it could be useful?

ginko had been searching for hours but had no luck of finding odo, he sighed and had stopped by a large pool of lava. his spell was holding strong but he was still hot from the warmth that seeped past the protective layer. he looked across the way to see a small cavern protruding from the ground, he thought it may be cooler inside of there and made his way towards it. as he stood in front of the gaping mouth of the tunnel he looked into it and something shiny caught his eyes. he held his staff as his side and slowly made his way into the cave following the glinting, as he came closer he saw that the glare was from a chest that was stuck half way through the ground. ginko tilted his head at it and crouched, he touched it hesitantly with his hand and it felt, cold? he didn't understand it but was highly intrigued by it.

ginko set his things down then sat before the box, he spent a while digging it out but it didn't seem to be stubborn at all and slid out of the fine lava sand. he huffed slightly and drug that rather heavy box out of the ground and beside him. he then looked at the lock clearly, he felt it and sensed he couldn't unlock this chest with a prayer. but he knew he could outsmart the enchantment on it. he took some of the soft black sand under him and filled the lock hole with it until it was filled completely. he then whispered a prayer to harden the sand, it worked perfectly. the sand shaped into the key hole with no trouble at all. ginko then grabbed the small end of the sand key and turned it until he heard a click. he smiled and opened the chest. it was heavy so he expected it to be filled to the brim with treasure and loot. but as he opened it the chest was filled with black sand and in the middle sat a lonely red stone. ginko looked confused but as he touched the stone his fingers turned to ice and he gasped in shock at the sudden temperature change. he took a breath then grabbed some cloth from his bag, he took the gem into it and wrapped it neatly before putting it away. this gem would surely come in handy later, for now he felt the cold seeping from the gem and decided to rest there in the cavern till he felt good enough to travel on.
