A time where you helped someone in need: I am not involved with church or religious studies any longer, but back when I was still involved with a Bible study, there was a program that the the groups (it was not co-ed, so we were separated into a boy group and a girl group) partook in called "Rooted." One of the girls in my group was down on hard times, as she was homeless and living with her neighbors who eventually kicked her out, and she had to sleep in her car for several weeks. I got her food one day and made sure she had enough to eat for at least that one day. I also bought her a small pile of essential items that she couldn't afford herself - simple, cheap things like socks, nail care equipment, and a can opener. To really show her some kindness and to drive the point home that she was worth something even though she was down on hard times, I bought her the book that the group was using that was far out of her budget. I had been saving up the cash for a few years and knew I wanted to help someone else with it, so I used it to buy the book for her so she could partake in the study with everybody else. She came every night and even drove me to the study once when I didn't have enough gas money to get me there - she's now a good friend of mine, and we meet up at least once a week to chat and watch movies together.

A time where you helped someone in need:
I don’t do many spectacular things for peopel, but I do make a difference for one adorable pup. My neighbors are grandparents to a young child, and they are always out of town visiting or babysitting him. They are gone all day multiple days a week sometimes, and they don’t take their dog with them. He is the sweetest boy, and it is saddening to see him locked up in a house, alone, all day. I don’t let them pay me, but I take their dog out for walks and sometimes to just go to the bathroom, along with refilling his water bowl and feeding him. He is so playful and such a curious dog! He is a joy to be around, but for the longest time they locked him in a cage in the dark while they were away. Thankfully they changed that and he is free to roam the house, probably because knowing he would get to go to the bathroom eventually helped with his occasional accidents.

A time where you helped someone in need: i used to volunteer at a home for the elderly with alzheimer's. i wasn't certified in anything, so i'd just play bingo, talk, hang out, and sometimes go on walks with them. a lot of them really loved to see a younger face. they'd tell me weird things, give me hugs, pet my hair, and then do the same thing the next time. i don't think any of them remembered me, but i still think they enjoyed the company. they scarcely got any visitors, even around the holidays, and it was really depressing and i eventually stopped going.
