What do they do to keep warm? [up to 500 words OR 1 art piece]: They would, of course, stay in the bed for a long as possible, snuggling up to their partner while listening to the rain and wind outside. Once their stomachs start to rumble, they would put on some cosy slippers and head downstairs to make some late breakfast and a warm cup of either coffee or hot chocolate. The rest of the day would be enjoyed chatting while rewatching old anime on the television. Just enjoying being inside with blankets and each other.

What do they do to keep warm? [up to 500 words OR 1 art piece]:
Olive skimmed the sheet, narrowing her eyes. “Tell me about the sport that you play.” Olive frowned. Well, that wasn’t going to work. “What’s your favourite class and why?” Nope, she spent enough time at school, she didn’t need to do an icebreaker about it as well. “Tell me about yourself.” No way, it’s so hard to do without coming off as vain. “What are some tips to keep warm in the winter?” Olive paused. This was perfect.

Hibernation.
Not actual hibernation, you obviously still have to eat. And go to school/work. But, well, as close to hibernation as a kalon can have. To “hibernate” you need to have a cave, and -since we’re not bears and can’t sleep in a literal cave- that means you need to make one. This “cave” should be special, something comforting you can only enter on the winter. (It makes winter a bit better.)
I’ll tell you about mine for a little inspiration:
Picture a dark wood room, with a small-ish door. Not too small so that no one can enter but small enough that you might not notice if you walked past it. Now, picture a fluffy carport on the floor - the fluffiest one you’ve ever seen. Now add blankets and pillows galore, the trick is to have no hard surfaces, you see. Or, well, almost none. There’s the snack cupboard and lamp. That’s right, this room has a little lamp, one of the ones you’d see on a beside table. It rests in a corner, and it’s a very special lamp. It has three settings, off, on soft and on super soft. Off is for, well, darkness. On (soft) is for reading when you need something to relax you. On (super soft) is when you want to sleep with the light on but not too bright. Now, this lamp provides the only light in the entire room. Near it is a cupboard, filled with packets of hot chocolate, mugs and snacks. All of them are non refrigerated of course. As for how I make the hot chocolate, I take in a hot water bottle with me. You just take off the cap, pour some in a mug with some hot cocoa powder in it and voila! Hot chocolate. Not to mention, it provides some heat as well. Along with the hot water bottle, I also take in my favourite blanket, a mug of hot milk (since it needs to be refrigerated), and my old friend, Mr. Bearbear the plushie.

Anyway, that about wraps it up. Oh wait! I forget to mention the aroma, you simply must have a calming scent in there. Alright I’m done - for real this time.

The candlelight flickered over the furred creature as she worked. Her back arched over the scarf she sat knitting in the light of her city loft. The smell of wet pavement and pretzels drifted slowly through her open window along with the cool chill of the winter air. She pursed her lips, reaching to shut the glass frames rounded with metal. Her whole body trembled and the kalon hugged the scarf resting around her neck as she set her work down on the desk before her. With one final stitch she smiled and moved it in front of the window to make sure it was thick enough. She threw the last scarf into her already large pile. She stood from her chair to kneel beside the accumulation of clothes. She knew they would help many people and for that reason took great pride in her work. She loved what she did, and happily braved the cold each night to deliver what she had worked on the day before. Her eyes were tired and her wrists ached, but her heart was warm.
The kalon piled all of the cloths into the cart she had attached to her beach bike. They rose all the way to the edge and some mittens even looked as if they were just about to topple over the side. But Brielle covered everything with a tarp and started to bike down the lantern-lit street.
The air was cool and the only sounds that could be heard were the occasional horn honk or the ringing of a Christmas bell as people sat outside asking for money for the homeless. Brielle stopped at each station to smile and place a dollar or two in the red bucket.
The streets were mostly empty from the usual males and females who rest on old sleeping bags. Brielle hoped they had all found cover from the rain earlier in the day and shelter for the winter night’s chill.
The furred creature was about to turn her bike and head home to curl up by the fire when she heard a whimper coming from an overturned trash can. She paused and set her bike against a light pole before walking over to see what has made the upset sound. A harsh wind blew her scarf off her neck before she made it over and she chased after it. The fabric had landed in a puddle and was now dripping wet. It was then that the sky opened and freezing rain started to fall. Brielle’s face fell as she immediately started to shiver.
She was walking back to her bike when she heard the whimper again. It was a small puppy that had crawled into her cart of warm cloth. The small animal looked so warm and cozy, Brielle’s shivering face turned up into a smile. At least her heart was warm, even if the rest of her wasn’t.
