Kalon Name: Francis
Prompt:
The grass was warm and the air was chilly as Francis watched the sky, he had lain there for some time now.
The orange and purple hues that had been splashed across the sky had faded away to reveal a deep dark blue, a color that you could get lost in. And it felt like he had gotten lost in it, watching the stars with his eyes he didn't feel the warm grass or the chilly air, he felt.....well he didn't know how he felt. It was a warm feeling almost, comforting definitely. It was as if the stars themselves had wrapped around him to make a blanket, they shielded him from the world.
One day he wanted to go up there himself, he knew he wouldn't be able to touch the stars or anything he imagined now, but it would still be worth it. He had been working hard in school recently, and had seemed to pay off. When he wasn't learning about the great beyond he was drawing it, reading about it, talking about it. No one really knew where this fascination came from. Around 6 he had gotten an astronaut helmet as a birthday gift, little did they know the interest would only grow, he wore it as much as he could. Around 11 he started sneaking out onto the roof. Around 16 his room was filled with books and telescopes and dioramas, walls no longer visible underneath posters.
He enjoyed the more technical aspects about space but at night he became a little kid, struck with a sense of wonder and calm. He took a sip from the hot chocolate he had brought with him, it had become a routine to visit the little cafe.
Sipping it now he watched the sparkling of the stars, one day he'd be up there one day as well, he knew it.
