(Told from her point of view)
Plith wrote: Tsk, you want to know my story? Well I guess I can oblige, but know this, my story is still being written, just like every one else, and I have no intention of ending it anytime soon.
So I went to bed the night before, fearing the worst for the next day, which was a Monday. Okay, i'm going to stop my story for a moment, just to say that I really Do Not like Mondays, it's just one of those things. Well, continuing on with the story, I fell into a deep slumber. The next morning I awoke with a start and looked around, to my alarm I was not safely snuggled in my bed at home, instead I was lying on the cold stone floor with stalactites hanging over my head. I glanced around and saw the backs of gigantic silver winged...Creatures..
I'm going to stop this once more, because I need to explain something. I am one of the biggest mythology buffs you will ever meet, butt even I can not tell what a creature who's head is tucked under its wing with its back to me, is. Just putting that out there in case you were wondering why I didn't just say Peryton, get it, got it, good!
Resuming the story where I left off.... One of the creature shifted slightly and I almost fainted out of fear. I started keeping towards the entrance, looking back every so often to see if the creatures had woken up. I had just turned my head back towards the entrance of the cave when a large shadow blotted out the already sparse sunlight that was streaming through the entrance. I stared, shellshocked, at the creature that had landed in front of me. The peryton stared back at me, tilting his great pronged head to the side. "A peryton." I gasped like an utter buffoon as it moved closer to me, nickering softly. I took a tentative step forward and waited to see what it would do.
The peryton moved closer to me, thrusting his snout into my shoulder. "Hey Buddy!" I whispered happily and stroked his pronged head carefully. It moved suddenly and I was knocked of my paws, The Peryton made an urgent nickering sound and lowered one shoulder to the ground, I smirked and charged for the shoulder, pulling myself onto the Peryton. Before I was even fully on the Peryton galloped toward the entrance of the cave and took off. I heard screeches in the distance and looked back, frightened. Three ginormous griffins were chasing after us, their great wings beating the air. I screeched at the top os my lungs in fright as they started closing in. They faltered for a moment, a golden one tilting his head then charged straight for us yet again. I screeched again as one griffins talon dug into my shoulder, the griffin flew away from me so fast, who would've thought I had the plague. The Peryton shook his head as if trying to get the sound out and I smiled, aha! My obnoxiously weird and very high voice was about to come in handy! I screeched at the griffins repeatedly and another one flew away.
But the largest one, the one who had scratched me before, stayed. I continued screeching at it and to my surprise instead of turning away like the others had, it lunged towards us. The griffin raked its long talons across the perytons back and the peritonea cried out in pain. By then I was really fed up with these griffin creatures and hurting my new friend was really just the last straw.I struck out at the griffin with my paw and screeched louder then before. The griffin shook his head and finally flew away. I smiled happily until the peritonea and I plummeted to the ground like rocks.
I coughed and groaned as I rolled off the Perytons body. I gasped loudly and stumbled over to my new friend, and dropped down by his side. I stared at him for a long time, counting the moments in between when his chest would rise and fall. I'm not quote sure what happened next, but I'll explain it the best I can. I stood and tried to pick up the peryton, I worked my body under his large frame and hefted him on my back. Somehow I managed to stagger about half way to the cave before only being able to stand and not take another step forward. Silvery creatures descended towards me and I grunted sadly, so this is how it would end for both my new friend and I. I closed my eyes and waited. What happened next, I can not say, for at some point I lost consciousness, but when I awoke again I was lying in the middle of the perytons cavern. I stood and staggered over to where they had all been standing, staring at me.
"Hi." I said cheerily and they rushed towards me, I squeaked frightened. Instead of being impaled by twenty or so antlers I only felt a feeling wash over me, one that was both warm and cold, smooth and rough, invigorating and tiring. here is the best way i can think of to explain it, It was many things, but at the same time it was none. I stared up at the perytons and I realized that this was their way off thanking me. I smiled at them, though I wasn't exactly sure why they were thanking me.
Well, I figure the rest is a bit boring. You just learned about my favorite mythological creature and my least favorite in one story, good job! So, thats my story, what's yours?
