Short story
Archer sat quietly in the dark interior of a blackberry bush watching a crow across a forest clearing. He noticed some of the feathers on the crow's left wing were missing and wondered why. He stared at the crow's wing for a little while longer but quickly realized that he was too far away to look see any evidence to prove a certain cause.
Archer watched the crow for a while longer before he noticed something small and glittery near the crow's feet. Curious as to what this object could be, he stepped out of his spot in the bush to go examine it. As soon as Archer stepped into view, the crow flew away.

He continued to pad forward until he reached the glittering object, which he realized, upon closer inspection, was really a stone. The stone was a dark turquoise-ish blue color, polished and looked as smooth as water. He picked it up and put it in his pouch. As soon as he did this, he noticed another polished rock a little ways away from him, this time a dark forest green.
He walked towards this second rock, picked it up, and put it in his pouch too. This action was followed by Archer finding another rock (a dark grey-ish brown one), and another, and another. He soon realized the rocks were laid out as a trail, to what, he wasn’t sure.

Archer continued following the trail, which eventually led him to the edge of the forest where he noticed a tall, brown-haired girl shooting a bow and arrow. Me.
He quickly hid in a bush and watched me for a little while. I wouldn’t have noticed him had he not scratched himself and made a rustling noise.

Well, after that, I found him pretty quickly and once I discovered him and he warmed up to me, we got along fine. We never figured out where that trail of rocks came from, though we both suspect the crow had something to do with. The one thing we both noticed about those rocks was that they were the same color as Archer’s pelt. Oh yeah, if you’re wondering how I found out Archer’s name… I figured it out myself (well, after he kept on pointing at my bow when I asked his name). After that, I always did find it an odd coincidence that I was shooting that bow when I discovered Archer.

Personality:
Archer is a bit of a loner but he is extremely stubborn and has strong opinions. He often notices minor details that nobody else does. He is a loner mostly because people find his uncanny ability to notice details kind of creepy and because he has a way of knowing what you're thinking by reading your expression and body language, which most people don't like. His strong opinions are mostly on the cruelty of certain people and the way he thinks the world should work.

You shuffle the papers quietly as you examine the piece of
paper in front of you bearing the title Midnight Dragon.
The description reads, young female interested in adopting
a Jellybean Dragon. Your forehead creases slightly. This
name seems slightly familiar to you. Then it hits you: she
is not a stranger to JBDs. You recall her as an entrant of
JBD #334 and many others, going back to perhaps JBD #40.
She also is a member of the Kiamara community as an
owner and guest artist slot stalker, that you snagged this
round. Whistling, you put the paper down, having read
enough about your contestant.

You shuffle the papers again as you come across a paper with
the name Atlantic written on it. You glance again at the
photograph of the dragon, to get a glimpse of it again. Yes,
it's fitting, you think somewhat warmly. Probably named for
the fur. Indeed, the fur did resemble the color of the briny
ocean on a cloudy day. You could almost smell the salt in the
air, feel the cold droplets of icy waters against your skin,
hear the crashing of the angry waves, demanding attention.
You're snapped back to reality, however, when you read the
next section. It read,I chose this name because of his unique
coat. I saw, immediately, in his fur, the rolling ocean,
crashing against worn grey rocks on the shore. I'm confident
that you see this too. His eyes only enhanced this vision, adding
a saturated azure color to the sky and sea. It reminds me of
the salty waters against a clear blue late summer sky.You put
down the paper, satisfied and moving on.

You're not surprised when you see Midnight has chosen this
bean as a male. After all, you did just refer to him as a him
in your introduction. Besides, you think somewhat reluctantly.
He always did seem masculine. There was evidently no way
in Midnight's mind that this one could be a boy, you could see.
She seemed so set on the idea, you wouldn't be surprised
if she wrote a whole persuasive essay on why he should be
a male.
Nevertheless, you are pleased to read that Midnight sees
Atlantic as a male. You place the piece of paper down,
casting aside the required adoption form, and get onto
the part that Midnight wrote.
