Mac sat down on the beach, and looked a little Timothy try to do..something? with his surfboard, but he kept falling down in the water with a huge splash, over and over, it quickly became unbearable to watch, and it hurt Mac's heart, he finally called out to him
"Hey- Timmy! Tim!" Timothy quickly got out, he frowned his mouth "Name's Timothy!" he said with an angry tone.
Mac quickly apologized, asking him what's he doing. "You wanna impress Mako, huh?"

Timothy's eyes lit up like firecrackers once Mac said Mako's name out loud.
"Yeah, yeah! He's THE BEST surfer ever!" Mac smiled as little Timothy started talking about Mako, his hero.
Timothy put his board down, in front of Mac, and kept showing Mac what Mako can do. "He can do ALL this!! But on water of course- how cool is that?!" Mac smiled at him as Timothy kept changing poses on the surfboard, pretending to be Mako.
Once he got tired, he sat on it, and frowned "But I'm not him, and I'll never be.." Mac gets up, and starts walking down the beach, he quickly turns around "Well, there's only one way to learn how to-" Timothy opened his mouth, and stared at Mac with his eyes, then interrupted Mac "Mako?!". Mac smiled "Yes we will go to him, and ask him personally. He's the best surfer ever, isn't he? He'll teach you!" Mac suddenly realized Timothy wasn't staring at Mac, but at something, or well, someone behind him, he turned around to see Mako in all his glory, holding a sick and rad surfboard. Mac sheepishly smiled at Mako, asking him quietly "You.. you'll teach him, right?" Mako smiled back, and focused all of his attention on Timothy "Ha-ha, I didn't know I had a fan!! Of course I'll teach y'a little fella!" he said, as he ruffled Timothy's hair. Timothy jumped happily "Mako himself will teach me how to be the best surfer ever!! Yaay!!"
Mac sat down at the beach again, and looked at Mako showing Timothy the basics, even when he’d fall down, and it seemed Timothy won’t be able to do it, Mako was patient, and smiling the entire time. He kept encouraging him, and so did Mac.
“You can do it Timothy!!” Both cheered, as Timothy smiled happily, as he finally did the trick correctly.

How does your kalon help him out?

This island just got better and better - how had she managed to get herself into this situation? A relaxing cruise had turned into hunting plants, then battling someone for a key, combing the beach for useful things... and now she got to play babysitter for this little tiny kalon clinging to a surfboard. Sycamore was no surfer, but with the amount of wipeouts she'd seen Todd - no, wait, that wasn't right, Tim, maybe? - do made it seem like maybe this wasn't the hobby for him. But he was insistent upon learning this complicated trick to impress some other kalon she didn't remember meeting, and begging her for help with those wide puppy-dog eyes all children seemed to have perfected.

Whatever. It wasn't like she had anything better to do with her time.

A strike of inspiration hit her, and she pulled out the phone she had found earlier on the beach. It was old, but not too old that it didn't have a working camera to take video with. She ordered Tim to go do the trick again, and filmed him. It wasn't the best quality video, but it was good enough. When he came back they watched it together, and she helpfully (okay maybe a little bit bossily) pointed out what she thought might be causing the problem.

They repeated this act a few more times, each time he got closer and closer to doing the trick correctly even though it wasn't quite there. Sycamore watched with crossed arms like a stern trainer, phone keeping a watchful eye on the younger kalon.

Probably about twelve tries later - Sycamore had honestly lost count under the hot sun as she tried not to think about it too hard - there it was! Her eyes got big as she realized that it was over, he had done it! "Congrats," She managed to squawk out as the child came tromping back up the sand with the swagger of someone who's accomplished something they were very proud of. He grinned at her and darted off, no doubt to show off his trick to the lady he'd been talking about earlier. Hopefully he didn't mess it up out of awkwardness.

With her job done, Sycamore made her way towards one of the buildings to find a cool drink and hide away from other kalons for a while.

"Well... I might know a trick, but I'll have to be in the water to help you," Azrail murmurs, an idea popping into his head. He's always had a soft spot for children, even though he's had to help many into the afterlife.

He's never surfed before, but maybe his angelic powers could help Timothy. Since the kit wants to learn a hard trick, Azrail was going to help him with one of the hardest he'd seen a kalon do before. Besides, he was able to keep him safe at the same time.

"I'm going to be underneath your board, okay? Don't worry about me, and just remember to keep your balance," he warns. Wading into the water with Timothy at his side on a surfboard, Azrail begins sinking deeper and deeper into the water until his head is engulfed. He raises his arms above his shoulders at a 90-degree angle and kicks his feet, heading towards the waves.

As a large wave comes closer, Azrail unfolds his invisible wings and carries the board up the wave. As the wave curves at the top, he continues until the board is hanging upside down. Timothy hangs on tight and dangles in the air, eyes wide but squealing in delight. Azrail is still hidden in the water, so no one can tell what he was doing. He smiles anyway, happy that the kit is joyful. Hopefully, Mako will be impressed as well.

The wave crashes over them, and the two float to shore.

it would be a great idea to actually know how to do it first.

"Why don't you go out and try the move one more time?" Plume suggested, "I think your balance is just a bit off, seeing how you keep falling off your board. Why don't you try moving your front paws back a bit?"

Plume had never surfed himself but he noticed that Timothy was always falling forward during or after his trick. Plume knew enough about the center of mass to know that Timothy was off-balanced. Timothy ran through his trick again, finishing a lot cleaner than before. There was still something off about it though.

"Mm..." Plume pondered, "I think you could add maybe just a bit more to your move, but you've been practicing for hours now so let's get you some ice cream and sunscreen before you go out on the water again. It'll give us time to think of an addition to your move and let you rest for a bit."

The pair relaxed for a while, watching other surfers run out to conquer the waves. After waiting 30 minutes after eating ice cream, Timothy was ready to get out on the water once again. Plume had studied another surfer's tricks and was pointing the end out to Timothy, giving him an idea of what to add. He gave Plume a nod and ran out to the water, swimming in deep and waiting on his board to catch a wave.

When the right wave came, he performed his trick perfectly, adding in some pizzazz at the ending to tie the whole move back together. Timothy came out of the water with a huge smile, toting the surfboard behind him. "Thanks, Plume! Now I'm ready to show Mako my skills!"
