+: Vani prides himself on being able to handle any situation with the utmost
xx.grace, and a large part of it is just believing that at all times he is the only
xx.one who knows what needs to be done and how to do it correctly.
-: Vani is notoriously difficult to get along with, if not for his haughty attitude,
xx.then the utter lack of care for others around him and a mouth that's willing
xx.to nitpick your flaws will get tiring quickly.

Ruthlessly bullied by his own siblings and classmates at a young age,
Vanitas had difficulties fitting in as a kit. It wasn't to say that he was
necessarily shy, Vani simply didn't find use in interacting with those
around him- especially when it seemed like every time he tried he would
inevitably be hurt. Vanitas found solace in books, growing to favor factual
and historical books that would further his knowledge of the world where
he was scared to explore.

Often thinking back upon the few fiction books with happy functional
families he read before growing frustrated with them, only fueled Vani's
frustration and feelings of betrayal when it came to his siblings and peers.
Even his parents were distant if not completely absent from him and his
siblings lives. Negative emotions built upon each other, but Vani respected
his family and had still carried hopes of bettering his relationships.

However, that never happened. Vanitas came home early in the morning
one day, having snuck out to take a walk by the nearest stream to the
house ablaze. Alongside his possessions, his whole family perished. He was
pulled aside as a suspect, where he spent months arguing that he would
have never committed such a crime against his own family. Evidence ended
up convicting a jealous family friend but at that point the damage had
already been done, distant family members who already scorned him for
being a "problem child" were suspicious and unwilling to take him in. On the
cusp of becoming an adult, he was practically kicked out and told to fend
for himself.

Angry at the world, he grew more vicious and desperate to survive while he
struggled with becoming an adult on the streets. This viciousness led to him
eventually being recruited by an organization specializing in training
hired killers.

Vanitas was contracted to hunt down and bring back the runaway son of
a noble, and infiltrating the small adventurers guild of a nearby town was
expected to be necessary for the task. What wasn't expected though, was
for haughty, shut-off, distant Vanitas to grow used to the guild's daily
shenanigans and the environment.

Especially not to the point where he''s tempted to even... stay?
