Prompt 3
Silvio, Reed, Bromine

"Oh look, Silvio, you can finally be useful in this journey," Bromine snickered, "As someone, forgot to pack the tarp for out tent. We have the beams, but how does one forget the outside?" Reed questioned, staring at the various sized beams around them. "Well, Bromine is correct, Silvio, guess you will have to be the tarp." Reed sent a sharp grin to Silvio, "Just hope it doesn't rain~" He continued. "Least your wings are webbed." Bromine piped up. Silvio sighed, but extended his wings, draping them lightly over the three of them, "Well, sleep is very important before a long journey, as I'll be able to walk longer then you all because I wont be at all tired," The tall man hummed. "Well, if we had the tarp, we wouldn't have to worry, and we would be able to take a break, but no, the one in charge of it forgot I-" Silvio promptly interrupted Reed, "But I have my wings, I mean that is something,
no?"

Dante pushed himself through the trees, the area incredibly dark around him. He couldn’t see a thing, and night was beginning to transform to day. There were no birds chirping, or the mischievous sound of squirrels rustling for nuts, nor and woodland creatures burrowing in the ground below. There was none of that. None at all. Just silence. Pure silence had overtaken what once may have been the beauty of this forest. Dante shivered at the screaming loud sounds coming from all directions, but nowhere. The intensity of the deathly quiet environment was getting to him, like it had gotten to everything around him.

There was a clearing up ahead, and Dante strived towards it, finally some rest. The clearing was rather open, with a small bit of shelter under the trees. The rest of it was open to the stars, the stars in the reddening sky. Dawn.

Dante collapsed into the clearing and watched the beauty of dawn unfold before his eyes. Red sky, orange clouds, the beauty of nature.

Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning
The thought floated into his mind. Surely not, it was going to be a lovely day. He stayed there for a moment, looking up at the sky and drifting into a comfortable sleep.

CRAAAAACKK

Dante awoke with a jump, his pack and himself soaked wet. The sky was a dark color, so dark it looked almost night. Thunder rolled around extremely close, extremely loud. Lightning crashed down on the nearby trees. Rain pelted down with intensity. Dante was frightened, frightened that the silence had been broken and frightened for his life. He had nowhere to run to escape the lightning, so he ran towards it, hoping it would pass over him without injuries. He pulled it pack along, now soaked and useless to him. He curled up in a deserted rabbit hole, rather large and easy to squish into. He blocked the entrance with branches, and lay there waiting for the storm to subside. His soaked rucksack lay out in the rain, collecting more and more of the giant water drops.

His pack was useless, his food was soaked. His sleeping bag was drenched, and Dante was in a rabbit hole to escape the storm with only branches as protection. Thunder rolled outside, and lightning crashed down. What a disaster..

      Prompt; Day Two
Kalokairi, Village Outskirts, 27th of Pegastyme, 401 V.C.
"The suns about to go down, how about we call it a day?" Kirin suggested while both Akechi and Shiro nodded in agreement.
The trio began with setting up their tent, mostly Shiro doing the work with a spare hand from the other two from time to time until their tent stood tall. "Glad that's over with." Kirin muttered.

"Do you want to eat? I have some dried meat from the last town we were in." Akechi suggested and looked over his shoulder. Shiro was laying down in the tent, resting, while Kirin was sitting out, reading a book with the little bit of sunlight still out. "No? Alright." A bit disappointed, Akechi took a seat as well and began to chew on the jerky in his bag. "...What an uneventful day."

When the sun had finally set Kirin began rummaging through his bag in a hurry. "No..no.." He repeated and Akechi looked over at him. "Did you forget something?" He asked, confused. "I forgot my lantern.. and now I can't read." Kirin let out a large sigh. "Oh... it's just a lantern. Here, use mine." Akechi reached into his own bag and pulled out a small lantern and a match. "You sure do like reading that stuff, huh?"

Daily Prompt 3 ------- 385 words
Aɴ ᴜɴᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ ꜰᴏʀɢᴇᴛꜰᴜʟ ᴍɪsʜᴀᴘ ʜᴀs ᴏᴄᴄᴜʀʀᴇᴅ.

"You've got to be…" Yushin trailed off, biting his tongue as the words simmered behind closed lips. They weren't exactly children, but… he didn't want to start cursing in front of the girls.

"What?" Kibasha sat up, looking around nervously with a hand on her sword. Rita shifted, looking unsettled, but holding it together.

"I… look. You remember the tavern?" The girls both nodded. They'd left about twenty minutes prior, trailing off along the road with an unclear task of gathering wildflowers. But he'd figured, as long as they were out, Yushin could set up a camp for the night. Apparently… not. "My bag. All the camping supplies. It's back at the tavern." He had to bite his tongue again not to let it out. Never before had he made such a massive slip-up. And it was a minor injury to try to accuse that of being the real cause of the dilemma.

"Well… we'll just have to go back and get it," Kibasha shrugged. The sun was still reasonably high overhead, but… they didn't exactly have an abundance of time if they were going to return with these flowers before the day was out, on top of everything else. But even if it meant they wouldn't have time to set it up, Yushin hated the thought of all his gear left alone and unguarded. It wasn't much for value in terms of coin, but he'd survived off that pack for the last three years. To him, it was invaluable.

"Alright. Stick together, then. We don't need any more mishaps tonight," he muttered darkly, scowling at himself in the still standing puddles that lined the road.

Behind him, the girls exchanged nervous glances.

"We should do something nice for him," Rita whispered.

"I don't think he likes nice things," Kibasha teased, but despite the less than ideal timing, got a smile out of her sister anyway. "Yeah, I don't know. Maybe we can buy him something at the tavern."

"We should be careful about our money," Rita warned softly.

"Yeah, but the innkeeper owes us one anyway. I bet he's all set up with Carline by now."

Rita sighed. "Maybe. I hope you're right."

So they trudged off in the older kalon's footprints, and all praying that the equipment was still there, and ideally, untouched.
Have a good day y'all.

      Prompt 3 [WC : 234]

Walking lead to many things- a destination, a finishing of goals, and for Apollyon and Lacroix, it lead to tiredness more than the other two. They hadn’t gotten much of anywhere, but they weren’t nearly close enough to the village to return to an inn for a rest. They need a place to sleep.

      Lacroix looked to Apollyon.

      Apollyon looked to Lacroix.

Their eyes met each others, and then their gaze traveled further, to their backs. Where as much as either of them tried, they could not spot a tent, or anything resembling such. They continued in this silence- a silence of two parts. One was nervous in its silence, and it shrank in on itself. The other was shocked silence, and it took the noise from the air around it. Neither silences seemed very willing to be broken.

Lacroix hadn’t ever been good at reading the mood anyway, “So… Uhm… Could we maybe build a shelter?” Her eyes looked around wildly, landing on a tree. “We need to head back to the village anyway… After we rest.” She looked up at the sky. “At least it isn’t raining?”

      It started raining.

Underneath a tree, both dampened and more than slightly frustrated, they managed to find shelter within branches tied together with excess leather straps. The young witch sighed. “At least it can’t get w-”

      “Don’t finish that sentence. Please.”

      Wisely, she did not.

Featuring Eden and Calypso

"Hey Eden, pass the tent kit"

    "Gotcha." She passed it over.

"Alright, almost done...and...it's set up! Nice!" She beamed at her new creation which stood before her. Speaking for the fact that she never had set up a tent before, Calypso was proud. It stood firmly in the group with perfectly calculated positions of each stake. They had been set up at exactly the right angle measurements from the ground to the tent's top in proportion to the length and width of each side of the fabric. It truly was an engineering masterpiece.

"Well it took you long enough," Eden said with a scowl. What was not previously mentioned was the fact that Calypso's sentence above, which was nicely laid out with three periods that separated long gaps of time, had actually taken about three hours. Now, it was dark and the two could see nothing at all. Eden waited patiently, but Calypso was still admiring her work, even though she couldn't see it. "Well, are you going to get in the tent now?" she asked.

"Yes, yes my bad. Can you pass me your sleeping bag so I can neatly put it in?"

"Mhmm..." Eden searched through her satchel, and fear began to rise in her chest. Surely it had to be in there. There was no way she could possibly have forgotten a sleeping bag, no that was impossible. But if it wasn't in her satchel, then where was it? By this point, that kalon wasn't even looking though her bag anymore, although her paws still churned around the items inside of it and her unfocused eyes still stared down at her supplies. "Ehmm, Calypso..."

"Friend, you've been searching in the same pockets over and over. I think you have to call it quits. Here, at least bring me mine. Oh, and my pillow, too. It should be in the second pocket of my leather pack..." She waited, and heard the sound of a zipper, some shuffling around, and then steps. Eden only carried her sleeping bag. That was odd.

"I couldn't find your pillow," she said, confused. "Is it possible that you could have forgotten it?"

Calypso's blood felt frozen. She remembered it in the place where she had left it, and in horror realized that it was still sitting by the door to her home, waiting to embark on an adventure which it would never go on. "Oh..."

"It's okay I wanted to sleep on the dirt tonight anyways. And I'm sure it'll be nice and comfortable to sleep with no pillow too." It took Calypso a moment to realize that was sarcasm.

"Well, what do we do? You have a pillow but no sleeping bag and I have a sleeping bag but no pillow."

"We could have it so one kalon sleeps comfortably each night..."

    "Uh, no."

"Wait! I have an idea....but I don't think you're going to like it." Eden eyeballed Calypso's perfectly set up tent. Calypso looked it up and down. She refused to even think of doing such a thing. How proud she was of it's perfectly proportioned stakes and perfectly angled fabric. She had put so much time into measuring out every detail with that protractor which she had somehow remembered to bring, and not her pillow. Through the hours of work, Calypso had become attached to her creation. The kalon did not want to see all of that time put to waste, but she did have to admit that it would be more comfortable than the dirt for a pillow.

Her voice cracked as she spoke. "Tent, I'm sorry I have to do this to you. It's not you, it's me. I promise I will maybe remember you."

Eden rolled her eyes. She had spent enough time with Calypso to know that she was just stalling at this point. While the kalon gave her speech, Eden walked over to the tent and tore it down. She split off a piece of the no longer beautifully angled fabric and handed it to her melancholy friend. Not caring at all, she curled up in a ball, falling asleep to Calypso's eulogy to her poor, perfect tent.

prompt three: forgetfulness
feat. Jet, Nico & Cass

"I cannot believe I let you drag me into this," Nico huffed, batting bugs away from his face.

"You could just give up and let me keep the book." They were well away from the village now, traveling through a thickly forested area. Jet walked a few paces ahead, hands in his pockets and a serene look about him.

"Absolutely not! That volume is impossibly rare, and a collector's item. I won't be leaving it in the grubby hands of some ruffian."

"Well, then I guess you're stuck with me, because I need it."

Nicandro grumbled his dissent, but didn't argue any further. Truth be told, the book was only a convenient excuse for his joining Jet on the quest to retrieve the elemental crystals. He had known for some time now that their kingdom was in trouble, but he hadn't grasped the full magnitude of the situation until their run-in with the demon that morning. If something wasn't done about the darkness soon, all of Kalokairi could very well perish, and if these crystals really were the key to their salvation, Nico certainly didn't feel that he could trust some backwards thief to handle it alone. So he'd decided to lend his skill with a sword and his impeccable logic to the quest; it had to be better than nothing.

"So, we all know why I'm here," Nico said, a touch of snark to his voice, "But why are we bringing her?"

Trailing behind them was Cassiopeia, the final member of their group. She'd just sort of showed up, sipping tea with Jet on his doorstep while Nico had been inside packing his bags.

"She's excellent with medicine and she's a good cook," Jethro replied.

"But can she defend herself?" Nico glanced back over his shoulder at the herbalist, sizing her up skeptically.

"Why, do you plan on attacking me?" Cass said flatly, disinterested. Blasted men, always underestimating her just because she preferred nurturing life rather than ending it.

"Nobody is attacking anyone, or I'll abandon you both." Jet stopped and turned, staring them both down. For as carefree as he seemed, the thief could be fiercely intimidating. "I work better alone anyway."

"I just don't want any dead weight on this trip." Nico said, brushing past him.

Cass dramatically rolled her eyes, and the three carried on in silence.

———————————

"So you're telling me you kept a pair of women's shoes in there, but you don't have a spare bedroll?"

"They were nice boots! I could have sold them, if I didn't use them to save your life!"

The boys were bickering... Again. Cassiopeia sighed and rolled over, burying her nose in the cloak that she'd rolled up to use as a pillow. It smelled of lavender and spices.

At the other side of the clearing, Jet was rolling out a woven mat for himself to sleep on. Cass, being the flower child she was, had made herself a soft looking bed of leaves, grass, and petals. Nicandro apparently hadn't considered that they would probably be sleeping outside for the majority of their journey.

"We can stop in a town somewhere and buy you a blanket or something," Cass mumbled.

Nico huffed, feeling thoroughly embarrassed. He had never slept outside before. There were too many bugs, and germs, and carnivorous predators. It was unbelievably dangerous, and his skin crawled at the mere thought of lying his head down in the dirt.

"I'll just stay up and keep watch," he said finally. When no one responded, he sighed and plopped down among the roots of a large tree, staring up at the stars winking through the foliage over their heads.
