- Day 4 - Chaos and Roland - Rabbit
- The focus shifted to me as the circle drew still.
"Truth or dare?" Chaos hummed. He reclined in his chair, folding his arms behind his head. That posture and the sneer on his face made it all too obvious that he was enjoying himself. Of course he was. He seemed to have this strange fascination with seeing others squirm when he was obviously on the winning side.
"Dare." I glared him dead-on, meeting his condescending gaze with some intensity of my own. I wasn't going to let him harass me today. Sure, we were friends. We still are. He just enjoys giving people a hard time and I just so happen to be the only person who sees an issue with that behavior.
"Alright Rol," Chaos mused, "I dare you to maintain a steady handstand until the next three rounds pass."
The circle gasped and I sighed, of course it was like him to toss something unreasonable in.
"Fine." I scoffed, and I proceeded to flip myself upside down. I wasn't a stranger to physical activity and I wasn't a moron either. I would take Chao's challenge, if not for the sake of shutting him up, then for a pleasant refresher on where my boundaries were. I held myself there-- one round, two-- I felt my hands tremble under my weight as my balance began to falter. It was almost back around to Chaos for the third time when I felt my hands slip out from under me. I only had a moment to realize it before my chin smacked into the floor.
I scrambled to sit upright, rubbing my damaged face. Chaos fled the scene, no doubt turning tail to laugh himself to tears. The others consoled me, trying to figure a way to minimize the damage to my chin and my ego. Chaos came back a few minutes later with an ice pack and a sheepish smile, finally looking softened.
"Sorry pal," Chao's cherry red eyes found other things to focus on rather than my bruised chin. Perhaps it was decency, I thought, or maybe he just felt bad. There was a nagging sense, however, that he wouldn't look at me because he felt a bit ashamed for having asked something silly in the first place. "Does this help any?" He extended me the ice pack and I held it up against my chin.
"Yeah," I said simply, "But next time, you're the one doing handstands." My joke caused the room to erupt into laughter, and just like that, the situation dissolved into that-- a joke.
