Kalon Name: Tori
Prompt:
As another day swept to its ends the city comes to life. Apartment lights beamed into the darkness of the footpaths as the ice-cold breeze flew through the air. The piercing noise of traffic slowly died and the crowds merely vanished. Hanging up her apron, Tori flipped a sign reading open attached to the cafe’s door. Stepping out into the moonlit alleyway it were if she had finally taken her first breath. Closing her eyes, she strolled silently, attentively listing to the eerie noises of the wind washing over the treetops in the distance. Tiptoeing up the flights of stairs she hauled at an apartment door. Fumbling with the keys she seamed satisfied at a peculiar silver one. Inserting it into the doors lock she pushed it open. “Narla! I’m ho-“ She froze, paralysed with complete fear. All she could muster were a few weak words “N-narla- w-what...” Her mouth quivered. Narla gave a queasy and helpless expression before her feet gateway, collapsing into Tori’s arms, a tear running down her cheek. Tori frantically glanced around her cluelessly. Almost tearing the coat off, she tucked it gently around Narla. Her mobile credit gone and her car still in service she jolted back down the never-ending flight of stairs. The hospital was 4 miles away, but at this point, she had no other choice.
Her arms already aching, her panting breath puffed out like thick white clouds. Her legs began to shake at the thought of what was to be of Narla’s fete. Coming out onto a lamplit pathway, Tori didn’t dare take her eyes from the body in her arms. Feeling her foot fall into a ditch, her whole body thrusting forward, hitting the ground with a thud. Moaning in pain she rolled on the ground, clutching Narla with all her strength. “I’m so sorry…” She whispered as she glared up at the stars in the blissful night sky. “Toriiiiii” an eerie whisper goes unnoticed. “Toriiiii” Then again…”Toriiiiiii” startled by the calls of her name, her ears pricked up. "Tori..." Her eyes adjusting to the darkness, nothing could’ve prepared her for what stood before her. “W-who are…why are you?…” Tori’s body went numb. A ghostly white kalon stood there, her emotionless grey eyes staring into Tori's. “I think you may know why” Her voice trailed flatly. She picked up Narla and placed her in her own arms. “Come with me”
Cautiously, Tori trailed after, puzzled by the root she was taking. On their way, Tori couldn't help but notice strange figures pass them. After another mile or two, the landscape began to become unrecognizable to Tori, whist more of the ghostly figures appeared from thin air. As they arrived at a strange never-before-seen archway, Tori came to the realisation that Narla's fur had become concerningly pale. "Where are we exactly?" The creature placed Narla onto the floor, waiting in silence until a reply was finally made. "The spirit realm" Looking down, Tori's eyes filled with tears. "What have you done to my sister?"
