her name is tiffany, and she is a witch. that was all marella knew about the kalon who would lift her curse. and she would find her... eventually.
it will be difficult, her father had told her. a curse for life isn't something you get used to.
but she had gotten used to it, in a way. staying inside to sew or knit or embroider, instead of helping with the nets. playing in the trees around the house, instead of going to the beach. she managed! she wasn't that lonely, or anything like that. but... sometimes... she just wished for something more.

on her eighteenth birthday, the day she came of age, marella made her decision. where is she? she asked her parents, firmly. i'm going to find her.
they were horrified, of course. their protests only made her more determined. she would find the witch, and lift the curse, and then everything would fit.
so she packed a bag with the essentials, waved goodbye to her parents, and set off, without really thinking about it, into the forest.

she wandered through the dimly-lit woods, aimlessly, mainly following her intuition, until something caught her eye. a circlet of daisies, hooked over a branch.
her heart quickened, and her claws dug into the soft turf beneath her. this was it! the witch must be somewhere near - maybe she would -
finally! you're here! shouted someone behind her. marella nearly jumped out of her skin, spinning round to see a slight kalon doubled over with laughter, clutching what looked like a wooden shell. i'm sorry, but i couldn't resist- the witch straightened up, and put on a serious expression. you must be marella. you've come about your curse.
how did you know? exclaimed marella. can you help me?
of course. and, magic, obviously! follow me. she led marella along a complex, spiralling path, that she seemed to know well enough to spend most of the time talking over her shoulder to the cursed kalon. so, i have a really good plan for this, right? my name's tiffany, btdubs.
are you sure it's a... good plan? she'd never heard a witch use the word 'btdubs' before. she wasn't entirely sure it was a word.
of course! right, listen - - she turned to face marella, walking backwards - there's this cave. by the sea. it's magic! and if anything can lift your curse, it'll be that. trust me. now c'mon, we'll be late!

it was hard to tell what the hurry was, but when they finally reached the cave - a dark hole in the green turf, rimmed with little white daisies, tiffany stood beside it, expectantly. well, in you go!
what? she couldn't even see the bottom of the tunnel - all she could hear was the soft sound of the waves.
go on! i believe in you. unless you'd like me to go first?
marella stared at the witch she had waited for her whole life.
no. she took a deep breath. i'm ready.
and she jumped.

Daisy And Algae Where Born To Puff, A Kalon With The Element Of Air. She Lived In The Clouds, As They Were The Only Place At That Time. As Little Kalons They Would Always Dance With Eachother, Sing, Laugh And Play Together. One Day They Came Across A Dragon. The Two Sisters Did Not Know How Evil Of A Reputation The Dragon Had. The Dragon Stared At Algae And Daisy Like He Knew They Were Special. Then He Said "You Two Are Different Like Fire And Water, You Have No Rights To Be Together!!". Later That Day The Kalons Realized That They Were Too Unalike For Each Other. They Split Up. Algae Went Too Where The Clouds Would Rain And Daisy Went To Clouds Where Flowers Grow. Algae And Daisy Spent Hundreds Of Years Split Apart. One Day The Two Sisters Went To The Stream That Marked They're Borders At The Same Time. Later They Realized That The Differences They Had Made Them Who They Are. They Touched Noses And Then The Earth Created Around Them.

~PART ONE~

σωφροσύνη blinked the sleep out of of her eyes. She peeked out the small window. Sunlight burned her half-open eyes. And I get up this early for what reason? she spat in her thoughts. The Kalon stumbled out of her warm bed and padded down the stairs. The pungent smell of thyme and rosemary filled her senses. σωφροσύνη turned on the tea kettle and reached for her morning packet of herbs to go with. A soft knock sounded at the door. "Come in," σωφροσύνη rasped.

"Oh, h-" The blue Kalon's reply was cut off by a violent bout of coughs. σωφροσύνη nodded and nuzzled the other to a seat. "I-I'm Magnus Neptune, Magnus." She continued coughing. σωφροσύνη nodded again and fetched marigold and catnip.

"Tea or dry?" she asked. Magnus pointed to a cup. The green female poured the herbs into her mortar. Her jaws clamped onto the postal and crushed the leaves into a fine powder. The tea kettle made the beep that signaled it was ready.
σωφροσύνη took the mortar and poured the herbs into the small cup, and then filled it with boiling water. She stirred the mixture until there was no powder. "Drink."

"Thank you," Magnus told her. She followed σωφροσύνη's instructions. "That feels better already." She smiled. σωφροσύνη slid a few packets toward Magnus and explained that they were a daily medication. The other Kalon strolled to the exit.

"Oh, and I'm σωφροσύνη."



~PART TWO~

A scream sounded. σωφροσύνη was jolted from her sleep, heart cold. "Magnus..." she mumured. She jumped out of her bed and bolted toward the door. Magnus wasn't far off, by her hearing. The green female headed toward the sea with the drop-off. "Magnus?" She called, yelling. A splash responded. σωφροσύνη dived into the water toward Magnus, taking a deep breath as she fell. Her eyes stung as she opened them under the churning sea. Her paws thrust her closer to Magnus. Suddenly, she bumped into a furry shape. Hold on, she thought. Her jaws grasped the bundle and she swam to a flat rock. "Magnus, it's over," She murmured as she licked Magnus's pelt to warm it. σωφροσύνη ran her paws along the other's chest and pushed. Magnus coughed roughly, along with a mouthful of sea water. "Shhh..."

"Wh-what happened?" Magnus asked. σωφροσύνη explained her theory, how Magnus was running and probably didn't know it was a drop-off. Magnus nodded. "Thanks. I mean it," she said. σωφροσύνη suggested they go to her apocathery, since it was closer.

"I promise to visit you soon!" Magnus called to σωφροσύνη. She hugged her and climbed into the cab that would take her to the airport.

"Bye, Magnus, my dear friend..."

Land and Sea, always so close but always so far away. Never could they be together for long until they had to part, sometimes it would be at daybreak which led to them having longer time together but other times it was sporadic and the timing could not be any worse. They would spend hours waiting for the other to appear, from either below or above, always just waiting for the other. Years it went like this, that is until they got separated. The sea going past the land and up to the sky, where it was harder for them to see each other. They grew apart, not being able to see each other compromised their friendship.

Sea and Sky grew closer together as the land and sea broke apart, often Sea could see the land form above in the skies but could never bring themselves to say anything as they then were expected to keep talking. Then one day Sky got angry, and got rid of Sea and dropped them harshly upon the land where Sea was battered and broken once again. Though when Land saw Sea they broke, their heart for their friend was shattered, to see them in such a state tore them apart. For this was when Land sobbed and cursed upon Sky, crying over their friend who was barely alive.

For then was the first time that Land had sobbed in centuries, the earth's ground moved and the core burst, but it did not break. Land's anger was spreading throughout the whole planet now and was taking it's toll upon the sky, creating a gas that made the Sky cough and cough. Nearly preventing them from doing their job of protecting the planet, Sky yelled for the Land to calm down and that Sea was alive still. Land rushed to their friend's side, hoping for the best for their friend. Land calmed down as they realised their friend was alright, and soon the earth was back to normal and so was Sky, Land and Sea.
