Asura, known as Akin when selling products

Psychic
How they got "infected":
"Oh this harmless old gag?"
Upon closer inspection, the black substance that seemed to drip from the corners of the merchant's mouth and stained his jaws seems to be more like a gooey liquid than anything. It wasn't foamy, it didn't dribble down his chin or anything. It just seemed to be smeared onto his face like thick mud from a swamp. Asura really isn't infected at all to be honest- he's a conman, that's his job. And when close friends or someone dear to him questions the liquid, he merely answers;
"It's nothing -- harmless really... Just something I whipped up at home for... Work."
The concoction messily wiped on his face is a simple mixture of flour and what seems to be a type of cornstarch, giving the black goo a slimy, wet texture. The flame patterned Gator makes sure to apply this weird mixture everyday, and even keeps some in his mouth which, mind you, is harmless to him, to later on spew out of his mouth to give a 'sick' effect. The sly conman spends his days lurking the busy streets of whatever village unfortunate to harbor him and his masks with his companion, Meenerz. The two manage to sell a few things here and there, though business is usually quite dull from time to time- so one day, Asura had devised a clever plan: Since most people pity the poor, the weak, the less fortunate, how would they treat a 'sick' merchant whose only hope of survival was to sell his masks? From that day forwards, the dark gator made sure he had a bottle of his concoction in his pocket and some dripping from his mouth down into his mask whenever selling his items because he was right: People who saw the indigent gator limp around with a sack of objects on his back and a medical mask strung around his face immediately felt a sting of pity. Meenerz didn't question much of his actions whenever Asura had brought up the weird, black liquid he used to ploy the people on the streets, though she didn't reject the idea since each village they visit, they had sold more and more each day due to Asura's devious plot. On the streets, he was Akin: the penniless merchant who thrived on the sales of his 'medical' items, but unfortunately, he couldn't conjure a thing for himself, so he set out to 'help' others. Around friends and others- he was merely Asura, the damned conman with a lopsided smirk.

"Akin's magical remedies and more at your service, guaranteed to work!" A flame patterned gator practically danced around in the center of town, attracting attention from a few strangers here and there. He seemed to wear a mysterious white, medical mask- a strange gloo seeping into the clean fabric with each word. A wary pair of travellers had stopped at the merchant's 'stand', which really was just a pile of his pack and other attachments. The male gator of the duo stepped up aggressively with a sneer:
"Magical remedies, eh? I'll believe it when I see it." The gator seemed to scoff in Akin's face, who merely winced but he stood his ground. A smaller gator gently tugged at the larger gator, telling him to stop bothering Akin, though her actions were fruitless.
"Don't believe me? Well, that's alright- but will you believe my friends then?" As the words rolled of his tongue, a dark mask seemed to vibrate intensely from his back and detached itself from the bag. It flew over swiftly and stopped next to Akin- a grin under his mask. The gator held an expression of shock before he faked boredom, as if being lectured to keep the flame gator talking, and Akin gladly complied.
"Well? If anything, if you desire anything- whether it be... Eternal youth; power; infinite mon-" A fit of hacking wracked his body mid-sentence. Akin stumbled backwards and the female gator seemed to jump forwards- as if she were to help him. He polite waved her off and pulled out a small elixir from his pocket and downed the thing in one gulp. In the near background, a brown gator stared warily from her post, but she repeated the phrase once more for attention- "Akin's magical remedies and more at your service, guaranteed to work!"
"I apolo-gize. It's a mere condition of mine... There's not much to do as I don't have the money for any proper medicine, and before you start- unfortunately my medicine doesn't work with my... infection... The best I could hope for is to sell my products to scrape up some money..." He hacked up some more goo.
━━━━
Akin gave a smirk from behind his mask- waving off two new customers, with their new masks as he held in his hands a fair amount of money, quickly wiping the cornstarch off from the corner of his lips.
Success...
