Task 1:
A bright mare was slowly brought into the sale pen, not for the lack of trying but that the mare was clearly wild. Around the mare's mouth was a dark muzzle, straps crisscrossing over the horse's face to stop it was biting its handler who already looked on edge. It's long tail thrashed dangerously, but I noticed it didn't completely straighten like my other Sveldala Walking Equines. The auctioneer began to list the history of the animal as it was slowly walked around the pen. "Nobody knows where this mare came from. It would be lying to say that the trailer ride was uneventful. The mare body language screamed panic, refusing to step up the stainless steel ramp, ears pinned against their skull. A slow process, of soft mumblings, waiting for the mare to get sort of comfortable with the trailer and watching and responding to her body language. Her strong body trembled and muscles tensed when touched, highlighting that this mare's past owners must have been rather abusive for the horse to be so distrustful of people.

For weeks, everything had to be done slowly. Each touch was slow and deliberate, avoiding touching their face or head to begin with. For weeks, I had a strict routine to help establish trust with the mare, speaking to her and spending time with her to slowly get the mare used to my presence. While I believe she will always be a skittish mare, Keahi feels more safe and gets on famously with the other stallions I owned when she was placed in a paddock beside them.
