Second half:

In life, everyone is forced to make the choice between what is right and what is easy. Msaliti had always believed herself to be a good person, wanting justice and truth to prevail.

But in that moment, Msaliti knew there was no going back. It was then that she realized she was not a good person. It was also then that she realized she was alright with that.

"Nasaba!" She cried, bounding up to her leader while making sure to look more pained by her injured paw than she actually was. "I-it was horrible!"

As she pressed her nose against Nasaba's fur, she could hear Zawadi behind her sputter, "w-what?"

Nasaba gently pressed her backwards, nodding for Kotoko and Jiwe to take their place on either side of her brother before speaking. "Ssh, Msaliti, it's alright. Everything is okay now. Tell me, what happened?"

For a moment, Msaliti felt as if time had frozen. She looked from Nasaba's concerned eyes to her distraught brother's, but it was Akilia's that ultimately solidified her answer. It was one simple nod, one Msaliti couldn't fully interpret. Whether it was to encourage her to tell the truth as the Oracle saw it, or to go along with the lie the Oracle saw through, Msaliti wasn't sure. But she accepted it as a sign nonetheless.

"Zawadi, he...he attacked me and my father."

"What?" Her brother roared from behind as tears began to leak from Msaliti's eyes.

She wasn't sure whether they were for show or in pain for what she had to do to her brother. She had no choice. Didn't he get that? "Nasaba, my father...he was with a lioness from another pride. Or maybe a rogue. I don't know. I told Zawadi, and informed him I intended to confront my father and convince him to see reason. But Zawadi was so angry-"

Zawadi tried to reach their leader, and Msaliti could barely stand to look at him out of the corner of her eyes as Kotoko blocked him from getting any closer. "She's lying!"

"I was scared," Msaliti whimpered, focusing on Nasaba's sympathetic expression, "but I thought he'd never do anything. However, when I confronted my father to try and make him see reason, Zawadi...he attacked. I couldn't stop him."

"I didn't kill our father!"

"Silence!" Nasaba roared before allowing her to continue. "What happened after that?"

"He looked at me, and he told me...he told me I had better not say a word. I got injured trying to stop him, and he told me that if I did anything to expose him, he'd...he'd kill me."

"I wouldn't do that," Zawadi pleaded.

Nasaba looked torn as he turned to Akilia. "What have you heard?"

The blue lioness looked thoughtful, but Msaliti could have sworn she winked at her. "I sense that Zawadi is deeply disturbed, but that there is hope of redemption yet...but as the pride's witness, Kifo."

"Msaliti," her brother cried, begging her to tell the truth.

She turned her gaze away.

The call for help over their telepathic bond didn't fall on deaf ears. Nara ran through the tall grass, paws beating against the ground with each leap across the earth she got closer and closer to the place her twin brother was being attacked. He was a quiet one, she recalled, someone with compassion and a listening ear that could move hearts and mountains. They had a few things in common, a few constants that linked them as soul bound twins. There was there kind, gentle nature, there constant leaning towards pacifism, towards giving others second chances. Nara was about to give her brother's attacker a second chance that he probably didn't deserve.

Leaping from the bushes she tackled the attacker, the two of them rolling across the ground. Nara called upon the power she had been born with, somnokinesis, the ability to induce sleep upon any she touched. Just as quickly as she called upon her power the attacker became sluggish and collapsed.

Nara stood up and after a brief moment of staring at the now sleeping lion she chuckled.

"I left you alone for two minutes," her accent sounding heavy as she shook her head, mock disapproval coating her language. Her twin brother simply rolled his eyes.

'we should get going,' a voice spoke in the back of her head over their soul bond. All the while Nasir gesturing towards the path ahead. The two of them weren't done on their travels yet- far from it.

Nara nodded her head dutifully, giving her brother a playful bat as she past him.

'Very well', she replied over the bond.

There soul bond was a strange thing, their mother having said that before they were born they were once a single cub who split into two but in doing so, split their soul down into two halves. She explained that's why their eyes were mismatched but the same, a sign that the two shared a single soul. Linked at birth, their mother gave them a warning, one which would always ensure that the two of them would always run to the other's aid. Should one of them die, surely the other would perish soon after.

She would always answer her brother's calls for help for that reason, among others, just as he would hers.

Spoons, would you be willing to give me some time to also try out on my own? Rainy had to drop out due to nanowrimo, but I would like to tryout for these kiddos. I’m going on a retreat that I leave for today and come back on Sunday for, so I understand if you just want to close this, but if you’d be willing to extend a little past Sunday to give me a chance to do forms, that would be awesome. c:

Having successfully fled the previous pride, Lucus looked at Finis. He cherished his sister, a lot, but he really hoped she would one day learn from these experiences one day. “Why do you keep doing this?” Lucus whispered. His sister’s head snapped up “What do you mean, Lucus?” He looked the lioness in her eyes “you keep getting us in trouble. again and again why do you never stop? How have you not learnt when to stop talking, Finis?” The lioness looked offended “Well, you are the reason we got into this sotuation in the first place, Lucus!” She screeched, to which Lucus simply sighed “we’ve been over this. It was neither of our faults we were kicked out, Finis.” The lioness growled at him regardless “Look, it’s whatever Lucus, we’ll just have to figure it our, alright?” They were standing at a split in the road, one path leading into an autumn forest while the other way, which seemed much more walked on leading off into the mountains. “Now which way” Finis asked. Lucus sighed “left” he simply said, walking into the forest “Look finis, just let me do the talking on this one, okay?”

Oh jeez, this was so hard. But the winner of both will be Firedancer77! I was eagerly waiting to see how the pride would reacted to the death of their father-- and the plot twist hit me out of left field!

Congrats on the work, y'all! I'm thinking I'll do another partnered one soon.

oh my gosh thank you!! ahh it was so much fun to write the story for these two, I can't wait to delve further into their now-strained relationship ^-^
