I initially liked the idea of UR items, but no, I don't want to see more. I like items, but a good portion of the site does not care for them. Items should remain as an additional site aspect, similar to how FR's item collecting is an additional site aspect, not the focus. Items already do not have rarity tags and have nothing to distinguish them fro any other items on site. Any new UR pet can guarantee to be 2 nons+ upon release and be adjusted from there. The UR items were placed at 1 non before people were even trading them. We do not have rarity changes records of UR items, they do not have rarities. There are enough high value items on site, we do not need UR items to add to it
What I would like to see is an adjustment to how item re-released work. The re-release needs to be based solely on how many items exist on site, not by year. Item years do play a factor but only a small one because of how they're released. Easter costumes and costumes in general end up being much more rare because of how little they're adopted. There's a candy pack from 2012 that had a total of 40 outcomes, but people only got a small amount at about 20.
I know this is about just UR items, but As the first poster stated, more chances of URs thought the year would be great. It would definitely boost site activity. There are already so many UR pets and zebras already have a chance to appear in monthly adopts. I personally don't think we need more than one UR pet a year, but people would hate that.
As an after thought, I think I would be more amicable to UR items if they were once every few years and are actually un released items, like the cakes. I like the idea that the items were part of a set, just never used. I don't think they need to be "special" designs. A lot of the UR pets themselves could easily have been part of a monthly litter, store set, or event. That's what makes an un-released feel like one to me.
SkywardtheDragon wrote:I think releasing unique UR items would make the UR item problem worse, not better. The cakes are really for item collectors; there’s a bunch of other cake items that can do the job if you need a cake for a dressup. But if they were something unique, then there wouldn’t be anything to replace them if you wanted to make a dressup and that was the only item that fit. This would be especially a problem if the items were big; there are some very creative people who can make items for their dressup out of stuff like gingerbread house frosting, game pieces, paint splashes, etc. but those items are small, and even making a small accessory like a hat could take a hundred or more of them. I have tried to make a background out of paint splashes, for example, and despite the large numbers of paint items I have, it wasn’t enough to make anything with a significant amount of detail.
Plus, imagine the supply problem if it’s an item people want multiple of in a dressup!
I think if there were to be UR items, I would want them to be less “useful” and more “gimmicky”. Such as an item that “evolves” over time, like an item variation of the rotting fruits that were the original URs. Or, though I doubt how possible this would be, an item that changes every refresh, or one that cycles appearance based on the seasons or changes every couple days.
This. Any "unique or special" would have people wanting more of the item and those should be reserved for events so people can get more of them. I already feel we don't get enough copies of items as is and a unique UR item will make it worse.
I am going to keep adding on to this instead of making a new post. I'm at work and it's been busy so I will have to just string thoughts together as I see them.
tldr;
-No to UR items. If we have them, keep them like the UR cakes. They're gimmick items for collection purposes, nothing new or flashy for dressups.
- Please adjust item re-release to be based on numbers that have been released, not when the item was released.
- Please more chances for UR pets throughout the year for site activity
