It's been a year since Snow and Mousespeck parted ways from the community. With Snow's promotion to leader of her Tribe and Mousespeck more dedicated to her research than ever, the two had found their spare time dwindling and left to follow their separate paths. Now, however, the two were back -- though only to recognize another important occasion.

Today, two more cats were leaving.

Cliff shuffled his paws anxiously at all the attention, his mail bag wrapped securely over his shoulder. "You didn't all need to be here for this," he mewed, "but thank you. I've had a great time here with all of you, but my business is growing too rapidly for me to stay in one place for long. I'll still come back, of course; you just won't see me around as much."

A chorus of goodbyes rang out before everyone settled down again. To the mail carrier's side stood Agate, their quiet presence broken only by the breeze ruffling through their scarves.

"I've treasured my time spent with you all as well," they finally spoke, "but I think it's time for me to broaden my journey to new horizons. I can feel the wind calling my name, and I long to see the vast sights of the rest of the world. Maybe we'll cross paths again someday, my friends, but for now, I wish you the best."

The others gradually stepped forward to offer Cliff and Agate hugs, parting gifts, and words, before the two offered their final goodbyes and left. A heavy feeling weighed on your heart as you watched them go, but you knew this wouldn't be the last you'd see of them. Cliff would still deliver your mail, and you had no doubt that Agate would wander back here someday too. Who knows -- maybe they'll even bring something new back from their journeys.

As Agate and Cliff disappeared into the foliage, Mousespeck turned to you, an excited glint in her eyes. "Now that that's over," she said, "I've been meaning to share some of my research with you. I've been studying the 'star's greetings' item for some time now, and I think I've found a way to expand its use. Want to see?"

Hey everyone! It's February once again, which means two of our NPCs (Cliff and Agate) have retired, and two new ones have joined in their place! Meet Doodlebug and Bookworm -- best friends who specialize in the arts of crafts and writing, respectively! You'll see more of them in future Stars mechanics someday soon 👀 Additionally, our edit pass rates have been raised for February, and our event NPCs are available for the month as well! ^^

We have a new face joining our staff team -- spideysense has been welcomed to the team as a full artist! 🎉 We've absolutely adored his designs and are thrilled to see more from him in the future. It's been an absolute pleasure to have Hazelfang on the team this month as well! <3 We'd also like to welcome riverotter and feather ' as GAs for the month! We're looking forward to seeing more of their amazing designs ^^

We've made a couple other changes as well:

• Mousespeck's research has turned up something fascinating -- the star's greetings item has been updated! The item now allows the cat to be any degree of transparent (and transparency may vary across the ref) and glow any color to give a ghost-like effect. Starry background and sparkles are encouraged, but not required.
  
  • Cats who had a star's greetings applied before these changes are eligible for a one-time revamp of the edit without the use of another item.
    
  • A reference without the StarClan edit is required to be provided.
• We've officially created and released a guide to unnatural edits and markings, as well as a hub for event-exclusive item info! These links are included on the edits list and StarClan's shop, and we hope this will help clarify how you can use these items ^^ As always, our Discord and community helpers are open for questions!
