ROAN & MERLE::
Roan is on the same locust with merle, so you cannot have a merle roan, but roan horses can carry one merle gene and produce merle foals.

Ex:
Rnm = roan horse carrying merle
RnRn = roan horse
mm = merle horse

You can have the following:
RnRn - dominant for roan; no merle gene
nRn - has roan; no merle gene
Rnm - has roan; carries merle
mm - dominant for merle; no roan gene
Mm or nm - carries merle but doesnt show; no roan gene


Rnm horses, if bred to a mm horse(dominant for merle) or Mm horse or Rnm horse(carries merle) can produce merle foals.
