Welcome to the Flametail Hellund Game! This is the mini-event for the Breeding Event for the Flametail Hellund species! This will be a story game, much along the lines of a D&D campaign, but very much simplified! Don’t worry too much about your rolls, so long as you’re able to make it to the end, you’ll receive a special prize!

Here are the rules:
1) To start participating in the event, you’ll need to fill out a character sheet below! Don’t worry, it’s not too complicated! Your character profile will be linked in the “Participants” section, so they’ll be easy to reference.
2) When asked to roll any dice (random number generators are fine), be sure the result of the ‘roll’ is at the top of your post, before any rping.
3) You are allowed and encouraged to interact with other players in your posts, and are more than welcome to bring any hellunds you already have along with you. Be sure to link to the other player’s post you’re replying to, or color their name so that they can see that you’re interacting with them. DM posts (posts made by me) do not need to be linked or referenced. I’ll be reading everything.
4) Your writing must be at least 3 sentences each, though you are highly encouraged to write more! This is a story game, so details are very encouraged and will likely affect your journey to some degree.
5) You are highly encouraged to read all of the posts, though skimming them is okay, so long as you are aware of anyone interacting directly with you.
6) No directly competing with other players! This is supposed to be either an individual or team journey! Fighting with other players will get you disqualified.
7) Don’t forget to have fun with this! Remember, everyone who gets to the end will get a prize!

Main Story:
The Letter
At The Gate

Going through your mail one day in October, 2020, you come across a royal purple envelope addressed to you in ornate gold handwriting and sealed with a bit of gold wax with a flame emblem. The flame seems similar somehow, but you're not sure how. Opening it carefully, you pull out a letter of the same colors and in the same handwriting. The letter reads:

"Hello (your name), you are cordially invited to my estate on this the day of October 13th in the year of 2020. Our festivities will be held later in the evening, though you are welcome and encouraged to come early. Nearly all refreshments will be provided as well as some wonderful gifts for those invited whom can assist us with a small problem we've been having on our grounds. Please feel free to bring any hellunds you have as our honored guests as well. Be sure to bring at least a handful of treats in order to gain entry to the grounds. Once you enter the front gate, make your way up the path to the door of the main estate. Once all of the guests have arrived, our banquet and festivities can begin. Looking forward to seeing you.

Strength: (Not sure what exactly to put here, but here goes!) Jon is a very positive and cheerful person, without being aggressively optimistic. He is pretty good accepting situations as they are and pointing out the positives in them, without being too annoying. This tends to mean that he's pretty good at cheering people up.
Weakness: Physically, he's pretty average when it comes to lifting and he isn't the best at reading people in general, but he means well.
Description: Jon is a 5' 10" middle aged man (about 32) with mousy brown hair that is just beginning to show some silver flecks in it. He is wearing a grey zip-up hoodie and a pair of nice black jeans. He is wearing some black tennis-shoes as well. Under the hoodie, he is wearing a blue collared t-shirt. His hair, while looking brushed and washed, looks a little raggedy as if he hasn't been to a hair salon in a long while and he probably cuts his own bangs from their uneven edges. Its about shoulder-length, but again, its messy and uneven. Otherwise he has hazel-brown eyes and a tired, but happy expression. As he walks towards the mansion, he appears curious and interested without a drop of nervousness.
Its important to note that as he approaches, a black hellund with striking red and blue markings is draped over his shoulders, looking about her regally. At his side trots a dignified blue hellund and before them all trots a third, this time a pink hellund with rainbow head and spine. She looks about her with bright curiosity and occasionally races ahead. At one point, a fourth hellund dashes about, green and white with an almost bloody looking muzzle. He quickly nips his master before dashing off again. The pink hellund chases after him and Jon calls after them to play nice whilst stroking his shoulder friend and sharing a slightly exasperated look with his loyal companion at his side.

Following the instructions of the gilded purple and gold invitation you received, you make your way up to the ornate black gate of the estate. The gate itself looks both beautiful and fierce, covered in spiked designs of dragons, constellations, and some other figures you don’t recognize of various other creatures. Looking at the dark plant-filled immaculately manicured grounds on the other side of the gate, you can see a plethora of hellunds milling around, seemingly completely unphased by your presence. There is a large variety of hellunds, some playing with each other around shaped bushes, some lounging under large knotted and twisted trees, and a few here and there just seeming to be hunting what you can only assume is small animals hidden among the flowers and groundcover.

Sure that you’ve found the right place, you look back at your invitation for instructions on how to get in.
“Be sure to bring at least a handful of treats in order to gain entry to the grounds. Once you enter the front gate, make your way up the path to the door of the main estate.” Is all the invitation says to you.

"Right..." Jon said softly to himself, putting the invitation away into his jeans pocket before reaching back and pulling a bag of treats out of a side pocket in the backpack (ooc: that I totally said was there in my description of him before, yup, totally, don't question it x3) he had on his back. The bag contained two chocolate chip cookies, a licorice stick, five mochi (individually wrapped and each a different flavor: Mint chocolate, strawberry, macha, chocolate, and vanilla), and a couple kit kat bars. He hadn't been sure what the Hellunds here would like, so he brought a bunch.
"Uh..." he said hesitantly, "I... have some treats..? Would anybody be willing to let me in? Please..?"
With that, he carefully placed the bag on the ground, open and as close to the gate as possible so that a Hellund could pick something out through the bars... if that's how this was supposed to work. He then took a step back, head tilted to the side and waiting to see what would happen.

After pulling out your offering of treats, all of the hellunds inside the gate turn and look at you intently as you set them on the ground. One particularly large hellund sprints over to the gate and wags its tail, looking between you and your treat offerings with its four flaming eyes. The size aside, this hellund is covered in spikes and has beautifully patterned purple and gold skin. You note something very odd about this hellund; it has no fur of any kind on it. You stare at it in wonder for a bit before it makes a funny chortling noise to snap you out of it. The hellund before you seems to be intently staring at the mochi among the offerings before looking up to you and wagging its tail again.

Jon's face split into a wide grin as the Hellund came forward.
"Well hello there," he said, voice gentle and warm, bending towards the treat bag, "Its good to meet you!"
He helped pull out the different mochi and set them before his new friend, gently brushing Passion's curious nose away from the opening.
"No..." he said, still gentle, but firm, "You know we packed these for our friends here. I have treats for you in the pack, don't worry."
He set the mochi before the brightly colored Hellund before them.
"Here you go, friend." he said, smiling.

Strength: Claire is very intelligent, and has a lot of knowledge about random things. Her areas of expertise, however, lie in the supernatural realm - she is very learned about supernatural creatures, the practise of magick, occult lore, and other planes of existence.
Weakness: Claire isn't very physically strong, and she is easily distracted. She is also incredibly curious, to the point of getting herself in trouble.
Description: Claire is a young woman of 22 years of age. She stands at about 5' 6", with a rather average physique and little musculature to be seen. Her skin is rather pale, with cool undertones. Her long, relatively straight hair is raven-black and typically worn down. One particularly noticeable feature about her is her unusual dark violet eyes.
Claire typically dresses in darker, form-fitting clothing. As of right now, she is wearing a black lace-up tank top with a purple cardigan that drapes down almost to her knees. Her distressed black jeans are cuffed at the bottom. A somewhat beat-up pair of black converse cover her feet, and her socks are mismatched - the right has a Ouija planchette print, while the left has cute black cats on it. She has a decent amount of golden piercings in her ears. She carries a black backpack with occult symbols on it.
Claire is quirky, excitable, bubbly, and all around rather bright. She loves a good joke and has a tendency to be chatty. Claire is a very curious person, which can sometimes get her into trouble. She can be a bit absent-minded and distracted, but overall is very cunning. Overall, she loves knowledge and learning new things. Claire can be morbid at times, though she retains a bubbly tone of voice whenever talking about such things. She isn't the most empathetic person; and sometimes has trouble understanding social cues. However, Claire genuinely means well. She can be childish at times, usually for humourous effect. Claire always carries some sort of notebook with her so she can jot down interesting information. She also has a large amount of empty mason jars in her backpack, in case she finds something weird and wants to take a sample to study later.

The purple and gold hellund sniff at the mochi before looking between you and your companion. With a huff, the hellund pushes one of the mochi balls towards your hellund and then devours the others. Upon licking it's chops, it runs over to the side of the gate, out of eyesight. For a while it seemed as though you had failed to gain entry, but just before turning to leave, you hear an odd howling creak and the front gate begins slowly opening to allow your entery. There is no sign of the hellund that had accepted your treats however.
