Hello, Crypt. I wanted to provide some clarity regarding the appearance of the silver-charcoal cat, in the event you wish to edit the design of the second parent* or if you want to know what such a pattern looks like, and to ask a question regarding the munchkin mutation.

While black tabby/bengal cats are the most common representation of the charcoal gene, due to a plethora of factors that I will not ramble on about unless you request for me to do so in private messages, there are several other colors the charcoal gene can be present in - more importantly, the silver-charcoal of the second parent, notwithstanding the juxaposing increase in eumelanin and suppression of pheomelanin both recessive genes cause - for such coats have been specifically bred in recent and past decades. As a result, I have managed to find a few real life silver-charcoal cats within the following links: Reddit, TikTok, and Tumblr.

As for the munchkin mutation, is it a dominant or recessive gene in cats? In addition, can a cat carry it without being a munchkin themselves? I have endeavored to research this mutation myself, however, I've been unable to find a straight answer from the various sites claiming to be certain on the mutation.

*In the event you wish to edit the design of the second parent: A helpful tabby marking guide by maxie on Amino, therein I believe the countershading could serve as a charcoal imitation, and a bengal color chart by Mambastar on DeviantArt that displays the colors of charcoal.

Feel free to respond at your earliest convenience.

Hiya! That was absolutely so helpful! I'll probably update the design when my stiffness is down!

I definitely would love for you to ramble to me about the different colors the charcoal gene can present in!

I haven't been able to find much about the munchkin mutation either. I've always thought it would be recessive and able to be carried, mostly because of how wacky genes can be, though also because for reasons I'm unable to word right now because my brain is tired, it just seems to make sense in my brain.

I'm glad I could be of service to you, Crypt, and I'm willing to wait for as long as is necessary for the updated design. All I ask is that you post to this forum once the design has been updated.

In reference to your interest in my rambles, I'll be sure to private message you shortly suceeding the creation and ownership decision of the kittens.

As for the munchkin mutation, similarly, I came to the same conclusion as you. However, given that such a conclusion isn't proven as an indisputable fact just yet, I've resolved that the munchkin mutation could have a 50/50 chance of affecting the kittens - if that's fine by you, of course.

Thank you, CozyArtist3. It's always great to hear an openly expressed admiration for art, especially in regards to design.
