so glad to see the ai rule implemented, thank you ❤️ very reassuring to see the site looking after its creators as usual!

if this isn't the place for critiques etc, feel free to delete this- but i am a bit concerned about the rule regarding adopt cover art..... i mean, i definitely slack on my current ones and i'll admit that hahaha. but if i have to draw fully finished extra pieces to advertise my adopts- on the oekaki, especially, which i struggle with using sometimes- i'll have to charge more for my adopts & will constantly be worrying about whether my covers will 'qualify' or not, or if i'm going to get in trouble for not putting in enough elbow grease.

where exactly are the lines drawn, so i can do my best to adhere to them? i see that a black & white sketch is one of the examples of a cover that isn't acceptable; do covers HAVE to be colored? can you not use any kind of 'sketchy' lineart/style? what if the character you're advertising itself isn't particularly detailed?

sorry for all the questions, i appreciate yall so much. just very worried about this in particular because it was an issue on another website that i used to be active on, but the moderation team became so nitpicky over the guidelines they added that i ended up leaving the site entirely because it was so subjective that no one could agree & i wasn't being treated kindly. i don't have any concern about CS mods being unkind ofc, but i AM worried there's too much nuance and it'll be very stressful to artists

hai :) I am not a mod by any means lol but I think if you, like, make a base or something for your adopts / customs and put that on the cover that could work.

4 example: I have a little customs page and I’m pretty sure it’s cover would be okay under these rules :)

(mods feel free 2 delete this if this post breaks a rule or something I genuinely don’t know 😭)

We have an off-oekaki board where you can sell adopts, you may want to consider using that instead if you don't want to draw additional art for the character on the oekaki. Alternatively, if you drew the adopts directly on the oekaki than a cover (obviously) wouldn't be necessary. The oekaki is meant to be used as its own art program, not just a place to advertise stuff drawn on a different program, so the cover should be adding something to the adopt. You can always send in a help ticket as well if you aren't sure if a cover meets the requirements, you can send us an image of it and we can let you know before you post it.

"Oekaki is the only place where art may be sold without the inclusion of a CS payment method, such as CS pets, items, or C$"

This means I can make adoptables on the oekaki board and sell them only for USD, but this is not allowed on the art shops forum, right?

This is correct. We allow USD only sales on oekaki without the need for a CS-based payment. However all discussion of USD/real money sales anywhere on CS must take place offsite.

Thank you so so much for making a rule on AI! With so many companies/places allowing, it’s definitely refreshing. <3
