Nope, got to start somewhere.
Why i want to work on heartcatch:
I have a passion for pokemon, it should cheesy, but I really do love them. Growing up, I would watch the anime and make my own pokemon ocs, so becoming a member of staff would be perfect! I joined heart catch right when it started and have seen the community and its passion grow, which is very exciting. I have also been on Chicken Smoothie since 2014 and have a deep love for the site, which has made me stay around so long. I am also very much up to date on the pokemon lore and have played a number of the games, so being able to help people weave their own narratives is a spot I am ideal for.
what suggestions do you have to make hc more organized and user friendly?:
I believe that the arpg should be more accessible to those that do not have a discord. Most announcements are posted only to said discord, so perhaps a place on the main page for the announcements could work. Also, a better guideline on design traits that are or aren't allowed, the doc is very helpful, but at least to me, it was a bit confusing.
How often are you on discord/cs?:
I often have discord running in the background, I am always on dnd due to hatred towards the sound, but I frequently check for alerts. As for chicken smoothie, I am also on pretty often as I am currently unemployed, so I will have a large amount of time for the arpg. I will be having some activities starting soon, but they should not get in the way of being a helper.
What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to interacting with others:
As a pretty laid-back person, I have been walked over in the past, but thanks to some soul searching, I have found that I am stronger by 100x. I understand that people make mistakes; I have made them too and will use that understanding to create a friendly environment. This is not to say that I would let people get away with breaking the rules, as safety for all users is my main priority. Something that affects me, though, is that I do tend to get nervous talking to other people, but the internet factor helps a lot with that, along with the fact that I have gotten a lot better about it too.
Tell me about a time you diffused a situation:
Around three years ago, I was in an experimental learning class where at the end of the semester, the whole class went on a trip to the driftless area of Wisconsin (basically northern WI, where glaciers did not go threw). The trip was one week long, and we stayed in a concrete-floored 'cabin.' It was basically camping but with normal food and inside. On the trip, we did many activities to help the community (this was after a bad flood), such as pulling barbed wire out of the brush and tearing apart a ruined house which we then burned. On this trip, there were many conflicts where I had to use prior conflict resolution training. Some examples of conflicts were loud snoring, a couple fighting, and being snippy from exhaustion. One way these ways the class reached a solution was through restorative justice circles.
Restorative justice circles are when a group sits in a circle. Those that are a part of the circle are those affected (directly and indirectly, by the perpetrators, support for each side, and the teachers of the class. Circles are not meant to highlight the rule or equivalent broken but rather to see how one was hurt and the steps that can be done to help fix the damage done. We used a talking peace so that no one was talked over.
This really takes a lot of stress off those that have been harmed or those that feel bad for harming others, as both have support, and the point is to find a solution rather than place blame.
