She should have listened. If she'd listened she wouldn't be in this predicament. Her father had warned her not to get too selfish, too... Big headed... She hadn't listened. She licked at her wounds in an attempt to clean them. She sighed and reflected on what had led her to this point.

"Your majesty! We can't possibly close our borders to the wild clans! They're our main supplier of prey!" A worried advisor desperately had tried to change her mind. She hadn't listened.

"Did you not hear me 'advisor'?" She dragged out the title mockingly, "we'll close all trade with those ragged strays, after all, if they can hunt surely our patrollers can do it too?" She tilted her head to wait for her advisors complaint.

She had thought that's all they did. Complain for the sake of complaining. She hadn't listened when they'd told her the wild cats owned the land around their kingdom. She hadn't listened when their healers had warned her that claiming that territory would mean fighting strong warriors that were willing to die to defend their clan. She hadn't listened when her subjects said they didn't want to fight their allies.

That's what lead to this moment. It's easier to drive out one cat you dislike than fight an entire clan. What's worse is her parents officially declared her exiled. If she were to return it would be as a common den keeper or trades-cat. She'd not be welcome in her family home... Which is why she was sheltering in the roots of a tree far from home.

The crunch of paws on dry leaves snapped her out of her thoughts. "Who's there?" She meowed hastily leaving the roots so she could run if she needed to.

"Woah." A large calico widened her eyes at the sight, "Hey, Milkshakestar? There's a cat here!"

Milkshakestar? Oh no, she's run into not just regular wild cats but the leader of a group! But there's no way she could run from the large cat without it injuring her more severely.

"Huh..." A fluffy lilac cat with a decorative bow tilted their head curiously, "Who are you? Do you need help?" Milkshakestar sat politely in front of her, "we don't have a healer currently but we have basic knowledge and access to basic herbs. "

"and you can stay for as long as you like!" The large cat hopped excitedly.

"Wh- Gingerpaw! We don't know who they are! Someone might be looking for them!" Milkshakestar scolded the apprentice. Why was an apprentice so large??? She supposed she shouldn't judge cats that offered to help her.

"I'd..." She paused remembering to introduce herself, "I'm- i mean, i was Princess Moonlight Symphony of the Sapphire Royal Family, Head of the Star-Blessed Kingdom." She sighed "I... I suppose i'm just Moonlight now.." She tucked her tail between her legs shamefully.

"I've never heard of the Star-Blessed Kingdom" Milkshakestar tilted her head "Nevertheless, welcome to Drizzleclan Moonlight, Let's get you back to camp."

Moonlight followed the two cats out the forest towards a circle of small wooden twoleg dens. As the cats showed her around and settled her into the healing den, she smiled to herself, maybe things were looking up.
