Meeting Akir:
SongWord Count: 259
The first time I had laid eyes upon Akir, it was as if Thor himself was staring straight back. This horse was like none you had ever seen; legs thick like pillars, coat gleaming red and white, a pair of sturdy tusk-like horns crowning its head, striking emerald eyes, and the most unique sleeve of runic markings on one back leg. I've had quite a fair share of other-worldly equine encounters, but none comparable to this one.
Our eyes had locked, and it felt like he was communicating with me in a way the physical world couldn't bare. I felt his gaze, his posture was with purpose and patience, as if awaiting my response. The wind blew softly, as if gesturing towards the beast. I was intimidated, but in awe, of whatever was standing before me silently ordering my verdict.
No words were spoken, but I understood this animal on a much deeper level. I was hesitant in my approach, but some force must have decided it was so, and moved my feet to step towards him - his height not out of the ordinary, but the way Akir carried himself, and the power and confidence his soul and body held was supernatural.
Like a scene out of a movie, I offered my hand as a token of kinship, remaining still until he decided when I entered his space. Stepping forward, Akir gently made contact with his shoulder to my hand - a moment I could never forget! This was the beginning of a life long journey, and friendship.

Akir competing in Log Toss:
SongWord Count: 167
The sport was simple; secure the object onto your Draft, and have them toss it as high as they can! Akir's horns were a nuisance in this one, but we made do. We equipped him with a thick sheep skin cover with holes cut out to fit his horns, protecting his face from the log. With lots of trust training and desensitising, he didn't mind being unable to see - he'd been trained mostly in vocal cues rather than visual anyway.
Watching this horse perform was like magic! Akir put all of his might into competing, hardly taking time to slow down, against the better judgement of us or the vets.. but! All went well, no major injuries, but his stubbornness definitely needs to be addressed..
His three attempts at the toss was spectacular! For a Draft of shorter stature, he was at a disadvantage for a few of the sports, but Akir still managed a very decent score here! At least, we think so-

Akir competing in Pulling:
SongWord Count: 44
Akir's favourite sport had to have been the pulling competition: he absolutely thrived in strength reliant activities, and pushed harder than you could ever expect. It definitely wasn't without struggle, the hay weighed a ton, but he gave it an honest and solid go!

Akir competing in triathalon:
SongWord Count: 209
The triathlon was a formidable relay! Hyped and ready to rumble, Akir started out a little slower with the jumps; launching a body as stocky as himself over tall brick walls is no easy feat! Regardless, he was determined. He had his iconic sheep skin under saddle, and his flashiest bridle during this first third.
Once he had conquered the jumps, it was swimming up next! He is not a big fan of the water splashing in his eyes or ears, but he continued to push forward. A quick shake once he was out, and rearing to go on to the finale.
Tacked up with all the necessities of water, first aid, his sheep skin saddlepad, and the like, Akir was roaring to go! Mt Jensen was possibly the largest, most rockiest, most adrenaline-filled mountain climb he'd ever attempted! He was much more confident up here, despite there being large gaps you had to jump over to get a good time record.
Not once did his focus drop, the entire competition Akir was set on success and eager to impress! Dripping in sweat, water, and dirt all over his legs, it was a job well done. This Draft definitely earned a vacation, and full days of pampering back home!
