The air was warm, the sun shining at its apex in the sky. Rays pierced the clouds and caressed the faces of four small Hydrafelidae kits who lay on a large rock with their mother. She took them to this rock to bask every day at sun high. The small family was not part of a pod, so their survival was more of a struggle. It was this time in the day where everything seemed at peace. Sun baked little kits rolled, played and napped while their mother watched over them.

As Spiralwhisker thought back to this moment, they could almost feel the warmth on their face and were sure they could smell his mothers comforting scent. She wondered if her mother knew just how much those moments would mean to them, even as an adult.
