Gossip: Ohhh BABY are you ready for some
hot goss? I’m absolutely B U R S T I N G at the seams, I need to tell someone. Anyone. And you’ll do just fine.
Okay so. Let’s set the scene. I’m me, fabulous Assam: wander, dealer of stories, and dare I say - devastatingly beautiful. I travel here and there, I talk to various herds, and it’s impressive what will be told to a kind stranger simply passing though.
I crossed paths with
Janus and his herd while on a stroll though those mountains. His friend
Wilde - big talker that one, I love her - dishes alllll about him much to his dismay. Usual things, embarrassing stories, until one made my ears perk up and my skin twitch with excitement. He used to be domesticated, but his barn burnt down in a strange accident. He hasn’t seen his old people since (and here Wilde interjects he let kids decorate him with pink ribbons). Someone else HAS to know something about that incident, and I swore on the bones of my ancestors I’d find out one day.
No leads and a few weeks later, I pass by a quaint little farm. I don’t find domestic equids of much interest, their stories are almost always how they didn’t get enough oats with their breakfast. Yawn. This time though,
one in particular caught my attention. He stuck to the shadows, his head hung heavy with some sort of burden, and he never shot me curious glances (which the others did). Being the diligent little investigator I am, I snuck in quiet as a field mouse at night. I hear the guy talking in his sleep.
‘I’m so sorry…I-I didn’t mean to’
‘The heater, I got scared and - no…I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m-’
‘…the smoke. The rubble, I saw you and I-I ran away.’
I may have gotten chased out by an
angry mare, but man was that WORTH. IT. This guy set Janus’ old home on fire? And didn’t even bother lending a hoof to escape?? Bonus, I didn’t even need to talk to him, his nightmares told me plenty.
It’s not my place to tell them about each other, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do a little instigating. Maybe I’ll find a way to get Janus to come down this side of the mountain, even though it’s a long way from his territory. Ohhh I feel the tingling of a plan coming on hehehehhe
