The air is abuzz as several trucks rumble slowly down the dirt road, tires digging into gravel and stirring up dust as they make their way closer to the house in the distance. What was once a small speck on the horizon from the highway has now revealed itself to be a modestly sized ranch as the vehicles pass under a rusted sign that reads:
“Blue Moon Meadows”
It’s quaint, the quiet couple of fields, a small herd of cattle out grazing, the cat that peeks its head out from the dilapidated barn. A family farm that’s stood here for decades, perhaps the realization of someone’s American dream a long time ago. But as the trucks roll to a stop outside the house and a man comes out to greet them, the excited barking that rings out indicates that they’re not here for the crops or the cows - they’re here for the collies.
Ignitions shut off, boots hit the ground - there’s a small group of handlers from the Blue Beaumont Ranch, dressed casually and with treat pouches slung around their waists, slip leads in one hand as they raise another to acknowledge the man coming down the steps of the front porch.
“Lamar?” One of them calls out, and the young man nods, extends his arm to shake hands. “It’s good to see you in person.”
“And you as well, Owen. I’m glad everyone could make it out today,” Lamar dips his head as he meets the eyes of each person on the team Owen has assembled behind him. “I’m sure y’all know the basics already, but let me tell you a bit more about why you’re here today -
Blue Moon Meadows was my grandpa Joe’s. He started it up with nothing more than a dream, and while it didn’t grow into one of those big old fancy ranches, it was his, it provided for his family, and he was proud of it. There’s a lot of good memories out here on this land, in this house…but since he’s passed, there’s no one in the family who has the time or the money to keep this place running in the shape he’d want it in. I’m no farmer,” he laughs, shaking his head sadly.
“Well, besides the cattle, he also had quite the collection of herding dogs. He took care of those dogs better than his own kids, my dad was telling me - anyways, the family put me in charge of finding new homes for them all, which has been no small task with how many there are and all the young’uns. I was relieved when another rancher told me they looked like Beaumonts and that y’all would take them back in and adopt them out. These dogs meant a lot to him, and they’ll need good homes where they can work again and be loved like he would have wanted.”
The collies had quieted while Lamar was speaking, excited barking turned to sighs and the occasional whine in the kennels hiding behind the house.
“There’s ten adults, and then three litters with two puppies each - which is another reason I’m so glad y’all can take them all. Let’s just say Grandpa Joe’s record keeping was…less than stellar. They’re all weaned now, and I’ve got no idea who belongs to who. It’d be easier to guess if they looked exactly like their parents, but with all the fancy colors and patterns the breed has, well - it’s a real mystery. But you said you’d be able to do genetic testing for them all before adopting them out?”
“Yes, sir, we will - we’ll be able to figure out the parents of each of your litters and genotype all of the collies while we’re at it. While we wait for their results and make sure they’re all healthy and happy, we’ll work on finding them all homes that’ll best suit their needs. We really do appreciate you trusting us with the care of your grandpa’s dogs, especially knowing how much they meant to him,” Owen explains, offering up a smile.
“Alright then, team, it’s time to go wrangle some collies!”

The collies from Blue Moon Meadows are still waiting on the results of their genetic testing to return, but in the meantime we’re starting to take applications for their adoption! All sixteen collies will be raffled off at the conclusion of the event - to enter into each collie’s raffle, you must earn tickets by completing a series of small prompts regarding your kennel and collies. Please see the next post for some general rules and instructions, then the post after that for all of the available prompts!

General Information
➛ Please fill out the provided form for each prompt that you respond to, even if you are responding to multiple prompts in the same post.
➛ Every 24 hours, I will ensure that all responses meet the minimum requirements and post a running total of how many tickets each user has earned up through that day of the event.
➛ You may post your responses individually or make posts with multiple responses.
➛ Please ensure that you do not edit your responses after I post the running total for that 24 hour period! Any edits made to old posts will not be counted even if you add new responses; you must make another post after I post the day’s running total for new responses to earn additional tickets.
➛ There is no minimum or maximum amount of prompts you can respond to within each 24 hour period; these periods are just for us to keep track of your tickets! You can complete prompts at any pace and in any order.
➛ The ticket earning phase of the event will run from February 27th to CS rollover from March 12th to March 13th. After this phase ends, you will have the next 48 hours (until CS rollover from March 14th to March 15th) to decide which collie(s) to enter for and apply your tickets to during the raffle phase.
➛ To apply your ticket(s) to a collie during the raffle phase, you’ll just need to post on their page with the amount of tickets you would like to apply to their raffle. The number of tickets you apply to raffles cannot exceed the number of tickets you earned during the ticket earning phase.
➛ You may apply your tickets to as many collies as you would like, but may win a maximum of two collies. Any staff member that participates in the event may win a maximum of one collie. Raffles will be rolled in numerical order.
➛ All adult collies have a name, which can be changed by the winning user after they are adopted.

Prompts
There are 16 prompts available to respond to, each of which will earn you one ticket (for a total of 16 tickets/raffle entries maximum).
The first section of prompts (1-7) asks general questions regarding your kennel - you do not need to own any collies to answer these prompts, as you can answer in hypotheticals or with plans or ideas if any of the situations don’t yet apply to you. These prompts require a response with a minimum word count of 150 words OR a sketch with a caption.
The second section of prompts (8-12) asks more specific questions regarding individual collies. If you don’t have any collies (or enough collies to provide a fitting response for each prompt), you may use a non-collie character that you own. These prompts require a response with a minimum word count of 100 words OR a sketch with a caption (the character(s) you draw must be recognizable by showing their markings/edits etc).
The third section of prompts (13-16) is a more miscellaneous section. These prompts do not have any minimum word count, but must be responded to with writing, not art.

9. Which of your collies is hardest to win over by new arrivals?
10. Which of your collies is best at helping with pups or younger collies?
11. Which of your collies would help to make a new arrival feel more at home?
12. Which of your collies is most likely to approach a new arrival first?
➛➛
13. Guess the phenotype/color of at least one of the adult collies - please provide your guess and the collie’s name. Your guess does not have to be correct to earn a ticket.
14. Guess the parents of at least one of the litters - please provide the litter number and the names of both parents you are guessing. Your guess does not have to be correct to earn a ticket.
15. Show off one of your favorite collies and tell us a little about why they’re your favorite!

Thank you all so much for participating in Blue Moon Meadows! We hope you’ve had a good time developing your kennels and collies with our event prompts - and now it’s time to use the tickets you’ve earned!
You may apply for as many or as few collies as you’d like - you can place all of your tickets on a single collie, or spread them out across any number of collies in any amount. The only limitation is the number of tickets that you have earned!
The litters will grow and all phenotypes, genotypes, and parents will be revealed after winners have been rolled! All collies will have four breeding slots remaining, even if they are a parent of a litter.
To use your tickets, simply pick out the collie(s) you would like to enter for and post the following form on their page. If you are applying for a puppy, you will do so on the litter’s page (be extra careful to note which puppy you are using your tickets on!).
You will have until CS rollover from March 14th to 15th to use your tickets!

Prompt Number: 1
Response: I imagine my kennel Grimhaven to be somewhere open with plenty of room for collies to run and explore with the closet neighbors being quite a distance away. There's a large farmhouse for the collie caretakers and other staff (including a vet), a separate kennel building close by, and a large temperature-regulated building for the agility course and for indoor collie recreation when winters get too cold for collies to play outside. A sprawling forest can be found along one edge of the property that collies and their caretakers alike enjoy exploring. I haven't decided on where in the world it'd be located, though it would likely be somewhere in North America, probably near mountains, and a place that experiences all 4 seasons (including plenty of snow in the winter).
Grimhaven is a rather peaceful place, though the collies make it quite lively at times.
I currently own thirty-seven collies with one on the way from a split!

Response: In general, everyone in the community has been very kind and welcoming since I joined (around May of 2024). To be able to chat about collies as well as other interests with everyone has been so much fun!
More specifically, I especially treasure Berenice gifting me a pair of wonderful collies when I was just starting out to get some fun genes into my kennel (after having already offered me first pick of my first and second litters that we were co-breeders for). She's continued to help me out to get fun genes throughout my time in the community, and it means a lot to me 💖

Prompt Number: 16
Response: I’ve been here for a hot minute. Just that as of late, I’m just creeping around more since life has me completely exhausted by the time I finally have time to myself. I love the community sm. Over the years, these familiar faces and people have started to become friends and at times, even a community I seek comfort in when life gets tough.
I love seeing the pets of everyone, convos about anime and the talks about squishmallows. I may not always ben an active participant in the convos but it’s always been so fun to see when kind of squishmallows everyone has hehehe
Sometimes being on the other side of the globe and also being exhausted from work means I’m late to the convo but it’s such a nice feeling to know that we share some common interests

Prompt Number: 1
Response: Maple Springs Kennels are located on Bluebell Farms as one of the large acreage paddocks. The farm itself is situated on large acreage land, housing other breeds of dogs aswell as horses. A long farm house sits idly by surrounded by flowery shrubs. The few large paddocks have been converted into dog yards each adorned with a large shed which houses the dogs at night. A barn that sits between two paddocks has been converted into a whelping/storage area. Trees surround two thirds of the property providing ample protection from the winds. The smaller of the paddocks have been changed into training fields with various equipment dotted through the paddocks.
The farm itself is located in Australia, on the outskirts of a quaint town. The weather can temperamental often switching between cold and cold days, but for the most part the cold weather usually is more predominant. The winds whilst often quiet sometimes can howl through the farms sometimes requiring things are doubled check that everything is tied down or stored or risk losing it to wind.
At the current moment Bluebell farms houses 195 collies, with expectance of a new puppy soon joining the ranks.

Prompt Number: 2
Response: A typical day starts with the 3 farm hands, waking early to start the meal prep. One farm hand opens the stables and rolls out hay bales for the horses before helping the others with the dog’s food. Feeding such a large amount of dogs often requires it done in groups and when one group is finished they are let out to roam freely around the paddock. Once all the animals are fed, the collies and shepherds are let loose to mingle with each another other or wandering around the farm. The garden whom wakes later tends to the gardening and other odd jobs around the farm other getting help from the stray dog that ambles over. Hired trainers take some collies for training either for competitions or learning simple commands. One or two collies leave with one farm hand as they prepare to round up the sheep and cattle that graze in the paddocks. One lucky collie gets to go with another farm hand as they travel into town to gather supplies and food that is needed. The last farm hand potters around the farm doing odd jobs usually followed by a string of dogs. As the day draws to and end dinner down like breakfast and as two farm hands monitor the groups the third checks and stables to horse for the night. Once all the animals are safely secured the farm residents head inside for cooked meal and well earned rest.
