Common Quipping
1. Regular (vertical)
Parallel vertical stripes similar to a zebra. This is the most common occurrence and can present in a range of patterns and to different extents from full body to only legs/tail.
- Cannot cross over but can connect
- Can either darken or lighten the mane/tail where it touches
- Can be filled between stripes
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can have a curve
- Can merge with horizontal
2. Regular (horizontal)
Same as vertical but horizontal, can be only a few stripes to dense stripes over the body.
- Cannot cross but can connect
- Can either lighten or darken the mane/tail where it touches
- Can be filled between stripes
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can be chest to rump or run up the neck
- Can merge with vertical
3. Lace/Necklace
Typically arched/thinner stripes that resemble lace or jewellery, mainly focused on the neck, rump, legs and tail.
- Can cross over and connect
- Can either lighten or darken the mane/tail where it touches
- Can be filled between stripes or form 'beads' along the stripes
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can be arched
4. Drip
Vertical quipping with large end at the bottom/middle resembling drips of water.
- Cannot cross and connect
- Can either lighten or darken the mane/tail where it touches
- Cannot be filled
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can only be vertical and straight
5. Spiral/Pinwheel
Characterised by quipping coming out of a centre point.
- Cannot cross over but can connect
- Can either lighten or darken the mane/tail where it touches
- Can be filled where two spindle connect
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can be arched or straight
6. Lightening
Jagged quipping with sharper angles and connects for form bolts. Often filled.
- Cannot cross but can connect
- Can either lighten or darken the mane/tail where it touches
- Can be filled between
- Presents on legs as horizontal
- Can be arched
